He was a backbench MP, held several ministerial positions, and stood for prime minister – before being sacked from a Conservative Party that he had come to barely recognise. Now, well away from the political arena, he regularly shares his insights into current affairs and global politics as co-host of the UK’s leading political podcast, The Rest Is Politics.

Middleland: Dispatches from the Borders 
to discuss his decade as MP of one of Britain’s most rural constituencies, Penrith and The Border. And he will argue that to truly create a better future for all we must understand the tensions that exist between rural and urban, between farming and the natural world, between the need to preserve and to grow, and between local and national politics. Bridges must – and can – be built, he will argue.

We just finished our trip&mdash;she was incredibly patient, explaining each of the museum&#39;s most prized possessions in detail. Those three hours were so fulfilling! Otherwise, we would have been wandering around like headless chickens!

It is definitely worth going. You can deeply feel the profound British culture and the importance Britain attaches to talents in various fields such as science, culture and art. When we went there, we queued for less than an hour to get in. The order arrangement in the venue was very reasonable and the Chinese translator was very useful.

This is a well-deserved attraction, ideally allowing at least two hours. It&#39;s grand yet unassuming, and historical yet not outdated. Each step is incredibly difficult to take, and the scenery is breathtaking. You won&#39;t want to stop until you&#39;ve seen enough. Photography is not permitted.
