To celebrate World Art Deco Day and the centennial of the Art Deco movement, WMODA is hosting a sensational weekend series of events showcasing the Fired Arts. The 1925 Paris World’s Fair of decorative art gave rise to a new international design style, which became known as Art Deco. The style is characterized by streamlined, geometric designs, bold colors and the use of luxurious materials, reflecting an appreciation for modernity and machine-made objects. Meet the Experts… Stephanie Sabato, Professor Emeritus of Design and Communications, will provide insights into Art Deco! What? Where? When? Louise Irvine, Executive Director & Curator of WMODA, will introduce the Flappers, Vamps and Divas created by British and European designers in the Art Deco gallery. Sharon Koskoff, President of the Art Deco Society of the Palm Beaches, is Keeping the Art in Art Deco as she celebrates art and architecture in Florida and further afield. Also… Enjoy a guided tour of our new Art Deco Gallery at WMODA, showcasing pottery and porcelain art from the Roaring Twenties and Glamorous Thirties.
