Join the National Museum of Asian Art in Washington for an exclusive workshop with Artisan in Residence, Shanthi Chandrasekar. Partnering with the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, this workshop is led by the skilled artisan Shanthi Chandrasekar, who is trained in the traditional art forms of Kolam and Tanjore-style painting. Participants of all ages are welcome to explore the craft of creating colorful patterns using sand, dots, and lines. The workshop will take place at the Sackler, ImaginAsia Studio, Level B2, and advance registration is required due to limited seating. Supplies will be provided, and no expertise is required to join. Shanthi Chandrasekar, a multimedia and multidisciplinary artist from Maryland, draws inspiration from her Indian heritage and the wonders of the world. Her works have been recognized with awards such as the Independent Artist Award from the Maryland State Arts Council. Her artwork can be found in esteemed collections such as the DC Art Bank and Montgomery Public Art.
