Join Artist Kirstie Macleod for an introduction to the Red Dress Project.  Kirstie has been an artist for over 20 years and has dedicated 16 of those to The Red Dress project. What started as a sketch in 2009 evolved into a global collaboration, connecting thousands worldwide. Growing up across diverse cultures, Kirstie’s early years were infused with color, language, and contrasting experiences. Art became her way of understanding her journey, leading her to a BA in Textile Design and an MA in Visual Language & Performance. Embroidery soon captivated her with its rich history and potential for expression. A pivotal moment came in 2002 in southern India, where she stitched alongside Karnatakan Lambani women, sharing a profound, wordless connection. The Red Dress began as an exploration of identity, transforming into a symbol of unity and voice. Amidst global challenges, its message of collaboration and compassion resonates stronger than ever, inspiring hope for a more connected and empathetic world.
