Join the live event "Authors on Tap: Nick Flynn and Dina Peone" at Exile in Bookville, located at 410 South Michigan Avenue, Suite 210, Chicago, IL 60605. This event will take place on Thursday, November 16th at 7:00pm central time. Celebrate Nick Flynn's latest poetry collection, "Low," as he engages in a conversation with Dina Peone. 

"Low" delves into the complexities of memory and explores how the past can be salvaged despite loss, violence, and trauma. The poetry collection includes prose pieces and sequences, such as "Notes on a Calendar Found in a Stranger's Apartment," which catalogs the belongings of a deceased neighbor, and "Notes on Thorns & Blood," a reflection on time and wounds. "Notes on a Year of Corona" examines the early stages of the pandemic and the aftermath of racist police violence. Despite grappling with existential themes, "Low" also celebrates desire in its various forms, from longing for home and connection to the desire for kindness and understanding. 

Nick Flynn, an accomplished writer, playwright, and poet, has published twelve books, including "This Is the Night Our House Will Catch Fire" and "Stay: threads, collaborations, and conversations." He is the recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the Library of Congress, and currently teaches at the University of Houston. Dina Peone, a graduate of the University of Iowa Nonfiction Writing Program, will also be present at the event. She teaches nonfiction at the University of Chicago.
