The Brevet - Instructeur - Basic Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor is a comprehensive training course offered by Paddle Canada. This two-day program is designed for individuals who are looking to become certified instructors in calm water stand up paddleboarding or enhance their existing knowledge. Participants will delve into the history of paddleboarding, learn group management techniques, familiarize themselves with equipment, explore pedagogical progressions, and master basic and advanced techniques. They will also have the opportunity to teach the rest of the group assigned techniques and maneuvers covered during the initiation to SUP. Safety competence, technical skills, general knowledge, and teaching abilities are all covered in this course. Participants will acquire effective teaching techniques, understand proper group dynamics, and develop risk management skills. The course also covers evaluation techniques, instructor behavior and attitude, teaching in protected calm waters or challenging conditions, and nautical safety according to Transport Canada. To attend this course, participants must hold an Advanced Flatwater SUP Skills certificate or have equivalent experience. Upon successful completion of the course and evaluation, participants will receive their Basic Flatwater Stand Up Paddleboard Instructor certification from Paddle Canada. It is recommended to bring your own equipment (board, paddle, PFD, etc.) to ensure comfort and familiarity, although equipment can be provided upon request.
