Professor Bass, who is the Associate Professor and Chair of Architecture at the University of British Columbia, has collaborated with the Nuxalk First Nation on sustainable building projects. Through the construction of cabins using locally sourced materials, these collaborations have not only addressed the Nation's needs but have also provided valuable insights for designers working in specific cultural contexts.

Snxakila Clyde Michael Tallio, a member of the Nuxalk First Nation and the Cultural Director, will join Professor Bass to discuss the importance of these cabin projects in fulfilling the Nation's aspirations. Currently, Tallio is managing the development of the Nuxalk First Nation's first Big House in over 100 years. This panel discussion will shed light on the lessons learned from these collaborative design projects and their role in reconciling cultural and environmental considerations.
