The Fall Semester of the One Act Writing Program at the Planet Ant Training Center is set to begin the week of November 6th. Whether you're new to the training center or a returning student, this program is perfect for all levels of experience. You can sign up as an individual or with a writing partner, and have the option to work together or individually throughout the course. The program, designed by Will Street and Mike McGettigan, aims to provide students with a solid foundation for writing a full one act play. By the end of the first level, students will have developed two full scenes from different starting points, as well as the opportunity to cast and direct a scene for a live reading. The course includes exercises, discussions, and homework assignments that are all geared towards helping you bring your story to life on the page. Level 1 focuses on the basics of one act writing, including character development, motivation, and dialogue. Level 2 expands on these concepts and helps you shape your idea into a full-length play. Unfortunately, Level 3 and 4 are not being offered this term. The instructor for the program is Will Street, a poet and playwright with extensive experience in the Detroit arts scene.
