Experience artist Mikey Mosher will be discussing his solo exhibition, CONTAINER CONTINUUM, during an artist talk on October 26th at The Martin in Chicago. This event offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into Mosher's creative process and approach to his work. CONTAINER CONTINUUM is a thought-provoking exploration of the relationship between objects and their containers. Mosher, drawing from his background in Religious Studies, combines his interests in religious objects and collage to create a body of work that delves into the contemplative nature of designing containers and curating objects within them. By constructing these simple and unassuming enclosures, Mosher aims to establish a space for modular divination, where found objects can find a permanent home and establish harmonious symbolic connections with their surroundings. This arrangement process serves as a gateway, opening doors between different versions of the self and bridging the gaps between past and present, imagined and real, intellectual and intuitive, physical and psychological. The artist talk, which will be supported by The Martin's Gallery Assistant Dennissa Young, promises to be an engaging and enlightening experience. The event will begin at 6pm, following the opening of the doors at 5:30pm. Mikey Mosher, an interdisciplinary artist based in Chicago, holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. With a focus on hand-cut collage, object collection, arrangement, design, woodworking, and digital fabrication, Mosher's work encapsulates a diverse range of artistic practices. The Martin is an accessible venue with ADA restroom facilities. The gallery has one step up, but guests who require a no step entry can enter through Split-Rail next door and proceed into the gallery. The Martin will provide a card-only bar for attendees, and all guests will be required to show ID for any alcoholic purchases. For those looking to continue their evening, Split-Rail will be open for happy hour and dinner before and after the event.
