Join Modern Art Oxford for a curator-led tour of the highly anticipated solo exhibition by Mexico City-based artist Frieda Toranzo Jaeger. Titled "A Future in the Light of Darkness", this exhibition offers a unique opportunity to explore Jaeger's intricately embroidered multi-panel paintings. By remixing iconography from western art history with indigenous techniques, Jaeger challenges prevailing power structures and historical narratives.

Through her use of pre-Columbian Mexican embroidery techniques, Jaeger disrupts familiar motifs found in well-known western artworks, presenting an alternative existence outside of systems of control. Her work features recurring imagery of queer love, vibrant tropical greenery, and brightly colored flora, juxtaposed with symbols of corporate power such as cars, engines, and spacecraft. The curator-led tours will take place at 5.30pm and 7.00pm, and entrance is free. However, spaces are limited, so booking in advance is essential.
