'DIY: Live the History of Housing Justice' is an exciting new play created by SPID's Artistic Director Helena Thompson in collaboration with SPID's Living History Participants. This captivating production will debut at the renowned Bush Theatre on February 3, 2024, followed by a performance at the prestigious Victoria and Albert Museum on February 10, 2024. The play, which is suitable for young people aged 13 to 25, showcases the talents of these individuals who have worked alongside acclaimed artists to develop, devise, perform, and write poetry segments for this groundbreaking show. Drawing inspiration from notable locations including Kensal House Estate, Trellick Tower, Frestonia, and Grenfell Tower, 'DIY: Live the History of Housing Justice' immerses the audience in the rich history of these places. Over the past 12 weeks, participants in the innovative DIY Approach theatre program have delved into the post-war housing crisis and the subsequent eviction and demolition protests. This exploration has not only shed light on these historical events but has also inspired movements that challenge the decline of modern estates and strive for positive social change. Please be aware that this play addresses sensitive themes such as housing negligence, Grenfell, grief, and mental health. Nevertheless, it is a safe space, and although there is no interval, audience members are welcome to leave and reenter the auditorium at any time. 🏰 Westminster Abbey, it&#39;s really shocking! 📍 It&#39;s located in central London, close to the Parliament Building and Big Ben. The church is a prominent representation of British Gothic architecture, towering spires, exquisite carvings and beautifully painted glass windows, each detail shows an unparalleled artistic charm. Walking into the church, as if through time and space, is the holy place of the crowning of the British royal family, witnessing countless important moments in history. It is also a resting place for many celebrities, and great figures such as Newton, Darwin, Dickens have slept here, making people respect their contributions. Walking around, you can feel the solemnity of religion and the deep historical and cultural heritage. The church&#39;s Henry VII chapel is exquisite, with a fan-shaped arched roof and densely carved decorations, like a fairy tale fairyland. Whether it is an architecture lover or a historical and cultural fan, Westminster Abbey is definitely worth a visit. I believe you will be deeply impressed by its charm like me. 💕 highly recommend it to everyone! 💕
