The evening will begin with a light catered reception, followed by a chance to hear from Thinking Cap Theatre's Artistic Director about the importance of honoring our queer women ancestors and uplifting women artists. TANGO PALACE, a dark, funny, and whimsical exploration of perilous passion, challenges the notion that "all is fair in love and war." This early play by the esteemed playwright and Pulitzer nominee, María Irene Fornés, showcases her indebtedness to the absurdism of Samuel Beckett, the wit of Oscar Wilde, and the camp style championed by Susan Sontag. Premiering in 1963, the play was met with resounding success and quickly became part of the Playwrights for Tomorrow anthology. Anyone who has experienced the tumultuous dance of love will resonate with the themes of TANGO PALACE.
