Join the excitement at the First Annual King-of-the-Hill BJJ Tournament, a submission-only charity event happening at The Coop in Los Angeles. This tournament is dedicated to the memory of Veli-Matti Hoikka, a beloved friend who left us five years ago. Veli's impact on his loved ones both on and off the mats is still deeply felt, and this tournament is a way to honor his exceptional spirit. To participate, a suggested donation of $50 or more is requested. Half of the proceeds will be donated to Hope For The Day charity, which works towards raising awareness and funding for mental health services and prevention. The other half will be awarded to the victorious competitor. The tournament will follow a unique "rubber-band" format, where each participant will receive two rubber bands to wear on their wrists. Whenever a submission occurs, the person who submitted their opponent will receive their rubber band. After 90 minutes, the top four competitors with the most rubber bands will engage in 7-minute sub-only rounds to determine the ultimate winner. This is a no-gi competition, and certain rules are in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. Slamming, flying submissions, biting, eye-gouging, and any form of violent or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated. Let's come together for a memorable event and support a great cause.
