Join the Bicycle Chain Raleigh team for the Gravel Ride at Umstead Park every Wednesday at 6:00pm. This is a great opportunity for newcomers to the area to connect with like-minded individuals and experience the beauty of Raleigh's Umstead State Park. The ride starts at Umstead Visitor Center, conveniently located off Highway 70. Don't worry about being left behind, as this is a no-drop ride where everyone sticks together. However, it is important to be considerate of other riders by being aware of your own abilities. The pace will be around 7-9 mph, covering approximately 13 miles. Helmets are mandatory, along with a well-maintained bicycle and basic handling skills. Expect challenging gravel greenways with steep climbs and thrilling descents.
