The renowned novelist Marja Pruis will be engaging in a conversation about her latest literary masterpiece, 'Huiswerk', alongside Roos van Rijswijk. Aptly described as a typical Pruis creation, 'Huiswerk' is a work that captivates with its lively and associative narrative, multifaceted characters, inventive storytelling, and a touch of humor that will have readers chuckling throughout. However, beneath its seemingly light-hearted surface, the novel delves into more profound and unexpected themes. 

In 'Huiswerk', Clara Feij finds herself in the most splendid residence in Amsterdam, where she delegates all cleaning duties to a procession of foreign housekeepers seeking refuge. But when Rose enters her home, everything changes. How can you assist someone when you know nothing about them? And how can trust endure when all evidence points against her? 'Huiswerk' is a striking novel that explores the intricacies of intimate happiness and domestic betrayal. 

Marja Pruis, known for her debut novel 'Bloem' (2002), which delves into the realms of desire and expectations between men and women, and her subsequent work 'Atoomgeheimen' (2008), which tackles subjects of sexuality, intimacy, and the erosion of ideals, showcases her prowess as a writer. In addition to her role as a literary editor at De Groene Amsterdammer, Pruis also crafts insightful essays on various topics such as humor and beauty standards. Her collection of essays, 'Genoeg nu over mij', earned her the prestigious Jan Greshoff Prize for essay writing in 2019. 

Furthermore, Pruis has compiled a series of essays titled 'Boos Meisje. Over vrouwen en frictie' (2022), which delves into the complex predicament that girls and women find themselves in. They are expected to be kind yet assertive, but not excessively so, lest they be labeled as angry girls.
