I FOUND MY ISLAND TAKES THE SOUTH BANK💚 That's right - we're back for another evening of joyful theatricality, but this time at the gorgeously refurbished Understudy at the National Theatre. Come and sing your heart out under theatre's biggest roof! As ever, all are welcome - lovers, likers and appreciate-from-a-distancers of musical theatre (and everyone in between). You can sign up to perform on the night or just come along to enjoy the performances and some group singing over a drink in a relaxed space. We will have music available to sing with an accompanist or you are welcome to bring your own tune (we can pull up a backing track for you). Tickets: £10 in advance / £15 on the door Doors and sign-up opens 19:00 Performances from 19:30 How to find us: Nearest tube stations are Waterloo (5-minute walk), Southwark (10-minute walk) or Embankment (10-minute walk). You can plan your journey using the TFL journey planner. Waterloo, Waterloo East and Charing Cross stations are all a 10–15-minute walk from The Understudy. You can check train times and service updates on the National Rail website. You’ll find bicycle racks opposite the Dorfman Theatre on the east side of the National Theatre building. This transit trip in London was hastily arranged, and I only booked tickets for West End musicals 10 days in advance and fell into a trap. Let me share my blood and tears.
The first half-pitfall blood and tears in June: I booked tickets for the Phantom of the Opera in June 2023 two months in advance, and I was lucky enough to book the last two rows of seats on the first floor Royal circle. When I arrived at the scene, I found that there were two pillars in front, and some scenes required constant left and right angles to watch the show. If I was willing to cooperate, the overall viewing of the show was not affected.
The latest blood and tears in November: I booked tickets for Les Miserables 10 days in advance, and there were no tickets left on the first and second floors. The only seat I booked, Grand Circle B4, showed Restricted Side View. When I arrived at the scene, it was weird. I couldn&#39;t see the lead singer&#39;s face for more than 80% of the time. In the end, I was so tired that I just listened to the music and was too lazy to bend down to find the angle.
The cast, choreography, and music of Les Miserables were all perfect, but I chose a bad seat, which was really tragic.
If you can&#39;t choose a good seat, don&#39;t force yourself to book a ticket. It&#39;s better to rush ticket on the day than to go there like I did.
