Tutor: Marie-Therese Wisniowski  Dates: Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th March 2025 Time: 9am to 4pm Cost: $170 Non-Members | $150 current NPW Members Enquiries: marie-therese@artquill.com.au Venue: Newcastle Printmakers Workshop, 27 Popran Road, Adamstown A two-day workshop where participants learn how to create unique and personalized printed imagery using the very versatile silk screen. On the first day of the workshop, participants learn the basic principles of silk screen printing and will be introduced to techniques such as ombre printing, create a temporary stencil, print positive & negative images and create a two-colour printed image using fabric paints on cloth. On the second day of the workshop, participants will be introduced to direct and indirect stencil methodology and will explore printing with basic everyday media such as masking tape, and talcum powder to create exciting improvisational and textured imagery. No prior experience using a silk screen is needed for this class. Materials: There will be a materials fee of $18.00 payable directly to the tutor on the day. Participants will also need to bring some materials - details to be provided late January. There will be a short lunch break - please bring something with you. Tea and coffee are provided. This course requires a minimum of 6 participants to proceed. Covid Safety: Participants must checkin, wash or sanitise their hands immediately upon entering the workshop and maintain physical distancing whenever possible during class. If you have COVID-19 symptoms or have been directed to isolate, you must not attend class. ABOUT THE TUTOR Marie-Therese Wisniowski works full time as a studio artist, author, tutor and journal editor and is the Director of Art Quill Studio at Arcadia Vale, NSW. Specialising in the area of limited edition prints and ArtCloth textiles, she has created signature silk-screening techniques, which she has termed “Matrix Formatting” and “Multiplexing”. For over twenty years she has conducted workshops and lectures on her signature printmaking techniques which she tutors at international and national conferences, and textile/print groups e.g. Surface Design Association’s ‘Confluence’ Conference, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA. She has exhibited widely internationally and nationally. Her works are held in major international/national public and private collections. She has received numerous international awards for her artworks e.g. Work of Distinction, The Americas Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary Prints, University of Iowa Collection, Iowa, USA. From Durham, we took a bus north to Newcastle. Compared with Durham Village, Newcastle is a big city. At Durham Railway Station, I also saw several students going to Newcastle for dinner. The train arrived in about ten minutes. Here I actually saw the city wall, Hadrian&#39;s Wall. In fact, this is the northernmost border of the British province of the Roman Empire. It is similar to the city wall in China, both of which are used to defend against invasions from the north. Along the Tyne River from west to east is the entrance to the sea. In those days, the King of England built some castles here, consisting of a wooden spire main building and an earthen outer wall. New Castle is the source of the name Newcastle.

Close to Buckingham Palace. You can see many animals. Pelicans, swans, black swans, geese, squirrels, etc. The playground is also unique and nice.
