Join the "Intro to Soy Wax Candles" event in Portland at Factory 3 on October 25, 2023. This class will teach you the art of blending scents and hand-pouring 100% soy wax candles. Under the guidance of experienced candle maker Lauren Chunias, you'll learn the basics of creating jar candles using 100% soy wax and fragrances infused with essential oils.

During the class, you'll discover how to blend fragrances to create your own unique scent. You'll also learn the proper techniques for melting and pouring candle wax, as well as finding the right materials to make long-lasting, strong-smelling, and clean-burning candles. At the end of the class, you'll take home a 10 oz candle, which can be picked up 2-3 days after the class or shipped to you for a $8 fee.

Please note that while adding fragrance to your candle is optional, most participants in the class choose to do so. Fragrance oil can be quite strong, and the scent can carry far, so keep this in mind if you are sensitive to smells.

Lauren Chunias, the instructor, is a candle maker with a true passion for designing scents and pouring candles. With over 3 years of experience, she has owned and operated Underdog Candles, which are currently sold in 20+ stores across the US. She holds a bachelor's degree from the College of William & Mary, where she studied business analytics and sustainability.
