This 3-hour session, titled "Introductory Welding for Artists," is designed to teach participants the fundamental skills of Mig and Arc welding. Led by experienced tutor Andrew Revell, this hands-on workshop will give participants the opportunity to practice and develop their skills using scrap metal. Throughout the session, participants will be introduced to Mig, Spot & Arc Welding and gain a deeper understanding of their applications in different scenarios. Beginners and improvers will benefit from tips and tricks shared during the workshop, as well as insights into welders' terms, types of joints, and problem-solving techniques. Participants will also learn how to join steel together and gain confidence by putting their skills into practice. The session will provide ample time for participants to use a Mig welder to create their own steel objects, experiment with sheet steel using a spot welder, and try out an arc (stick) welder. An angle grinder will also be utilized for part preparation and finishing. Participants are advised to wear old clothes and sturdy footwear. Basic materials will be provided. The course will take place on Friday, 26th January 2024, from 10am to 1pm at the London Sculpture Workshop located in Thames Side Studios, Unit Zero First Floor, Harrington Way, London, SE18 5NR.
