Join the Lewisham Writes Workshop with Carinya Sharples: Power, a thought-provoking event that explores various forms of political writing, inspired by activism and local action in Lewisham. This workshop aims to help participants discover the power of their writing and the impact it can have. Whether you want to shed light on an important issue or bring about change, writing can be a powerful tool to capture people's attention. No prior experience is required, as everyone is welcome to attend.

This workshop is part of a series of six free sessions following the highly anticipated Deptford Literature Festival 2024. You are also invited to book and attend the festival. The event will take place at Catford Library, located at Catford Centre, 23-24 Winslade Way, London, SE6 4JU.

Carinya Sharples, a talented writer and teacher residing in southeast London, will be leading the workshop. She is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Leicester, focusing on the representation of mixedness in Guyanese literature. Carinya is also a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) alongside her studies.

The event is wheelchair accessible and has accessible toilets available. If you require any additional access provision such as larger print handouts, please contact us at access@spreadtheword.org.uk beforehand.

On May 21, I took my parents to visit the British Museum. The tour guide was enthusiastic and professional. If I didn&#39;t have a tour guide, I might have finished the tour in half an hour. The main reason was that I didn&#39;t learn history and geography well. With the guide&#39;s explanation, the three hours passed very quickly. 🏰Westminster Abbey is really amazing!

📍It is located in the center of London, close to the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. This church is an outstanding representative of British Gothic architecture, with towering spires, exquisite carvings and gorgeous stained glass windows. Every detail shows unparalleled artistic charm.

Walking into the church, it seems to travel through time and space. This is the holy place for the coronation of the British royal family and has witnessed countless important moments in history. At the same time, it is also the resting place of many celebrities. Great figures such as Newton, Darwin, and Dickens are buried here, which makes people respect their contributions.
Walking through it, you can feel the solemnity of religion and appreciate the profound historical and cultural heritage. The Henry VII Chapel in the church is even more exquisite, with a fan-shaped dome roof and dense carvings, like a fairyland. Whether you are an architecture enthusiast or a history and culture fan, Westminster Abbey is definitely worth a visit. I believe you will be deeply impressed by its charm like me.
