Join artist Frederick Somers as he takes you on a captivating tour of the exhibition Moments of Memory: Minnesota Landscapes Painted from Life. This intriguing show, hosted at the Bell Museum in Saint Paul, showcases Somers' extraordinary talent as an internationally acclaimed pastel and oil painter. As a distinguished member of the Minnesota Plein Air Collective, Somers will share his unique inspiration and technique during the gallery talk. Frederick Somers' exceptional artistic achievements have earned him prestigious awards and recognition. He has been honored with the title of Eminent Pastelist by the International Association of Pastel Societies and has been inducted into the Hall of Fame and Masters Circle of the esteemed Pastel Society of America. Additionally, Somers holds the esteemed position of Signature Member of the Oil Painters of America.

Following the inspiring gallery talk, there will be a reception where you can meet Somers and other exhibiting artists. This delightful opportunity to engage with the art community will take place from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. Please note that this event operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and admission is included in the regular ticket price.

The Moments of Memory exhibition is made possible by the collaborative efforts of the Art of the Lakes Association, Outdoor Painters of Minnesota, and Red Wing Arts. These organizations are the driving force behind Minnesota's three premier annual plein air painting competitions, held in Battle Lake, Grand Marais, and Red Wing. We would like to extend our gratitude to the voters of Minnesota for their generous support, enabling this event through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, made possible by a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
