The 38th Annual Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony & Fundraiser is an opportunity to honor our local sports heroes and legends.
This year the Hall of Fame will welcomes a national championship team, two iconic members of the hockey community, a local football legend and a highly regarded leader in education as a teacher, coach and administrator.
In addition, a distinguished service award recipient and a male and female student athlete will be honored.
The 2025 Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame induction class is comprised of one of the most well-known athletes in Muskegon County history after his storied hockey career with the Mona Shores Sailors, Michigan State Spartans and Detroit Red Wings, 
Justin 
Abdelkader
; Muskegon Catholic Central football standout, 
Frank Lewandoski
; one of the most well-known hockey voices in America,
 Bob Heethuis 
and
 
the 
2010 National Champion Muskegon Community College
 softball team.
The Gene Young Distinguished Service Award recipient is 
Al Nichols
, decorated basketball player, longtime educator as a teacher, administrator and coach, as well as a respected community leader.
Student Athletes of the Year will also be honored.
The event will be held at the Event Center at Fricano Place, 1050 W Western Ave., Muskegon, MI 49441 on Saturday June 14, 2025. Social Hour at 5:00pm, dinner at 6:00pm with the program beginning around 6:45pm.
There will be a buffet style dinner catered by Harris Catering. Adult beverages will be available for purchase
