Neon Dance presents a captivating contemporary dance performance, "Last and First Men", inspired by the visually stunning science fiction film by Jóhann Jóhannsson. Set in a future where humanity faces extinction, the performance delves into the solitary and surreal monuments that remain in this desolate world. This thought-provoking production draws inspiration from Olaf Stapledon's groundbreaking novel from 1930 and serves as a poignant tribute to the late Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson. The choreography, masterfully crafted by Adrienne Hart, showcases the talent of Fukiko Takase, Kelvin Kilonzo, and Makiko Aoyama. The immersive experience is further enhanced by the black and white 16mm film, narrated by Tilda Swinton, and the evocative original score composed by Jóhannsson and Yair Elazar Glotman. The performance, with a runtime of approximately 65 minutes, is suitable for audiences aged 14 and above, with under 16s accompanied by an adult ticketholder. To enhance accessibility, a pre-show touch tour will be available for blind and partially sighted individuals, allowing them to familiarize themselves with the set, props, and costumes.
