This exclusive event offers visitors a unique opportunity to delve into the effects of the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management, Economic Stability Act (PROMESA) through gameplay, while basking in the captivating ambiance of Carlos Reyes' PROMESA lamps, which visually represent Puerto Rico's power outages resulting from this legislation. Participants will be guided by the game's creator and MIT faculty member, Mikael Jakobsson, as they learn how to play before immersing themselves in the experience within our gallery space. 

Mikael Jakobsson, a research scientist at MIT Comparative Media Studies, specializes in game studies, game design, and social design exploration. Collaborating with CAST Visiting Artist Rosa Colón Guerra, Mary Flanagan from Dartmouth College, and other talented individuals from MIT Game Lab, Jakobsson has developed an innovative and thought-provoking board game that aims to challenge prevailing narratives of colonialism and amplify the voices and experiences of present-day Latin Americans. Unlike most games set in Puerto Rico, which focus on the European colonialist era, this project provides an accurate and unfiltered depiction of the hopes and struggles of the Puerto Rican people.

The journey to create Promesa involved workshops and collaborative efforts between game designers, students, and professionals from Colombia and Puerto Rico. It culminated in the launch of Promesa in May 2022, accompanied by an enlightening presentation by Jakobsson, Colón Guerra, and the MIT Game Lab. Now, the Promesa Game Night at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on February 29, 2024, offers attendees an exceptional opportunity to engage with this groundbreaking board game and explore its profound social impact. There is a statue of Henry VIII at the entrance to Trinity College. There is an apple tree on the green lawn at the entrance of the College, which is the source of Newton&#39;s law of gravity. When you enter the courtyard of the College, the magnificent building brings a sense of awe. The front hall of the church is filled with jade statues of famous graduates from Trinity College, including Newton, Bacon, Tennyson and others.

Bridge of Sighs

The Bridge of Sighs is a covered bridge in Cambridge, England, belonging to St John&#39;s College, Cambridge University, built in 1831, across the River Conn. The architect is Henry Hutchinson. It is named after the Bridge of Sighs in Venice.
