Join the opening reception for the Saturday Morning and the Faces We Remember: Exhibition Opening & Dialogue at Public Functionary in Minneapolis. This event, curated by Za’Nia Coleman, will take place on September 16, 2023, from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. As part of the opening, there will be a public dialogue featuring curator Za’Nia Coleman in conversation with Tia Simone Gardner and Ego Ahaiwe Sowinski. This exhibition, presented in partnership with Public Functionary, explores the legacy and impact of the Hollywood Studio of Dance in North Minneapolis. The exhibition showcases archival footage, photos, and documents from 1991 to 2001. Located at 1500 Jackson Street Northeast, Public Functionary offers step-free access and will provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for the conversation at 7:30pm. Wearing masks is encouraged. The Emerging Curators Institute aims to support accessibility for D/deaf and disabled communities. For any specific access needs, please email info@emergingcurators.org.
