What this workshop is about:
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN ADULTS ONLY EVENT - I am available on a 121 basis for sewing session with young people under the age of 18.
You are booking a single two hour session from 2pm-4pm which I will be hosting at THE HALL ON THE HILL, St. Catherine's Hill, Christchurch.

Would you like some help from a qualified textiles teacher and experience seamstress?
Who is this class for:
These sessions are open to all whether your skills are none existent or advanced. What you choose to make is your choice, see below for guidance.
Please note I am a qualified textiles teacher and experienced seamstress and pattern cutter. I will be there to help you on your sewing journey but this dressmaking session is not a structured workshop, it is an open session where you can work on your own project with my support.
What you will learn:
The skills you will learn will depend upon the product you choose to make but may include:
Developing your sewing machine skills
How to create an open seam, hem and neaten
How to complete fastening such as zips and button& buttonholes
How to hand stitch
how to create decorative features
How to use and read and adapt a commercial pattern
Materials & Equipment:
You will need to bring a project with you. If you are a complete beginner you will need to select a simple or easy beginners pattern and choose a woven fabric to work with. I am happy to answer any queries or questions you may have to help you select a suitable project. Please just email me on nellybeadesigns@gmail.com.
I can loan you a sewing machine for the session but these need to be BOOKED IN ADVANCE by messaging me.
Equipment is available for you to use on the day.

Christchurch International Antarctic Center is a fantastic experience beyond imagination! As soon as you enter the door, it seems that you have crossed the ice and snow world in an instant, and the simulated Antarctic environment makes people feel like they are in a very cold place. The simulated sled experience is super exciting, sitting on it and feeling the wind and the wind, as if flying on the Antarctic ice sheet. You can also see cute penguins shuttled in the water, and the state is so cute that people can&#39;t help but take a few more photos. The various interactive exhibitions are also very interesting and can learn a lot about Antarctica. Here, both enjoy and grow knowledge, super recommended!

Christchurch Botanical Garden is a fascinating place! Entering the garden, it seems to be in a green fairy tale world. In the rose garden, more than 250 roses bloom, colorful and aromatic. Walking on the trail, you can see the Avon River flowing quietly, and there are light boats rowing across the river from time to time. There are also various theme gardens in the park, such as vanilla garden and Shiqi garden, each with a unique scenery. This is not only a paradise for plants, but also a good place to relax and let people linger.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing punting on the Avon River in Christchurch, and it was an absolutely delightful way to explore the city. The journey itself was serene and picturesque, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.Our guide, dressed in traditional Edwardian attire, expertly navigated the flat-bottomed boat with a long pole, allowing us to relax and take in the tranquil surroundings. We drifted past lush greenery, charming bridges, and historic architecture, all of which created a postcard-perfect backdrop. The gentle pace of the punting made it easy to fully appreciate the beauty of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens and the calm waters of the river.The entire experience was wonderfully calming, yet never dull. Our guide shared interesting tidbits about the area&rsquo;s history and natural features, making the trip both relaxing and educational. It&rsquo;s the kind of activity that feels timeless&mdash;no rush, no stress, just the simple pleasure of gliding through a scenic waterway.Overall, I&rsquo;d highly recommend punting on the Avon to anyone visiting Christchurch. It&rsquo;s a unique and charming way to see the city, and it&rsquo;s perfect for solo travelers, couples, and families alike. I came away feeling refreshed, with a newfound appreciation for Christchurch&rsquo;s natural beauty and historic charm.

It can be said to be the largest and best park in Christchurch. Located in the city center, it is a great place for friends of all ages. You can spend the weekend afternoons with your family, using the sky as your room and the ground as your bed... quietly contemplating... or just being idle for the afternoon... It is also very popular on weekends or holidays!
