The Southland Mega Matchplay, presented by the Cleveland Pinball League, is an IFPA Certified event that offers a 250% WPPR value and 100% cash payouts. Taking place on February 17 (Qualifying) and February 18 (Playoffs) at Southland Lanes in Middleburg Heights, this tournament offers a 200% TGP.

With the boost in WPPR value to 250% for this event, players have the opportunity to earn valuable points. In the past, the last two tournaments were worth 111 WPPRs, and the goal is to surpass that this time.

Pre-registration for the Southland Mega Matchplay opens on January 13 at 2pm. There is a player limit of 68, with 5 spots held for TDs and techs. To secure your spot, simply sign up with no charge and pay in cash at the event. You can reserve a maximum of 2 tickets on one reservation, and if you have more than 2 people in your group, additional registrations can be made. A waitlist will be available if the event sells out.

The entry fee for the tournament is $20 in cash, plus a coin drop. It is recommended to bring cash as there is no ATM on site, but change machines will be available. For those looking for an added challenge, there is an optional side pot with a $20 buy-in for high rollers.

The qualifying rounds consist of 20 rounds of matchplay, with balanced groupings and game draws. Scoring is based on a 7/5/3/1 system for 4 player groups and a 7/4/1 system for 3 player groups. The top players will advance to the playoffs, with the number of players making the cut determined by the total number of participants.

The playoffs will be held in PAPA format, with 3 game rounds and 4/2/1/0 scoring. The high seed will choose games from the categories of Old/Mid/New, with no consecutive rounds featuring the same game. Ties to advance will be played on randomly selected Old/Mid games.

The schedule for the tournament includes practice time, qualifying rounds, and playoffs. The estimated ending time for the playoffs is 7:00pm on Sunday.

The prize pool for the Southland Mega Matchplay is determined by the number of participants, with cash payouts for the top finishers. There is also a side pot with additional payouts for those who paid into it.
