Join the Stitch & Yarn monthly group at Gallery 1855 in Tea Tree Gully for the March session. This group offers a unique opportunity to cultivate creativity and togetherness while learning the art of embroidery. Led by the talented community and textile artist Michelle Jahn, participants will learn to embroider on a variety of captivating photographs that hold personal meaning. By using a range of embroidery techniques and colorful threads, old holiday or themed photos can be transformed and given new life. The Stitch & Yarn dates for this session are set for March 16th, with more dates to be announced. Additionally, participants have the optional opportunity to share their photographic stories with other creatives and prepare their embroideries for a future exhibition at Gallery 1855 in mid-2025. This exhibition will showcase the creative outcomes of months of dedicated stitching. It is important to note that participation in the group and exhibition is free, and no previous experience is required. The Stitch & Yarn sessions are suitable for individuals aged 16 and older. While thread and yarn are provided, participants are welcome to bring their own materials if desired. The only thing required from participants is their original photos or copies of old photos, with heavy paper recommended for copies. Michelle Jahn, the facilitator of the group, brings a wealth of experience in fabric design and a passion for helping others realize their creative potential. Her workshops are known for fostering a sense of play, experimentation, and imagination.
