Join Author Carolyn Holbrook and friends for a captivating Sunday afternoon reading and discussion. This event, titled "Voices of Our Times: Feat. Carolyn Holbrook & friends," will take place in Minneapolis at 901 Nicollet Mall. Carolyn Holbrook, an acclaimed writer, educator, and advocate for the healing power of the arts, will be joined by An Garagiola, Sherrie Fernandez-Williams, and Melissa Olson for a thought-provoking session.

Carolyn Holbrook's impressive career includes being the Artistic/Executive Director of More Than a Single Story. Her memoir, "Tell Me Your Names and I Will Testify," received the prestigious 2021 Minnesota Book Award for Memoir and Creative Nonfiction. Additionally, she co-edited the anthology "We Are Meant to Rise: Voices for Justice from Minneapolis to the World" and co-authored Dr. Josie R. Johnson’s memoir, "Hope In the Struggle." Holbrook's numerous grants, fellowships, and awards highlight her exceptional talent and commitment to her craft.

An Garagiola, a talented interdisciplinary writer, researcher, and graduate student, will also be part of this event. As a mixed-race Anishinaabekwe, Garagiola's work is influenced by Indigenous Feminisms and explores topics such as disability, addiction, love, and loss.

Sherrie Fernandez-Williams, an MFA recipient from Hamline University, will share her powerful and intimate writing. She is the author of "Soft: A Memoir" and has published poems in various journals. Fernandez-Williams is also a co-curator of the Queer Voices Reading Series, showcasing the diverse voices within the LGBTQ+ community.

Melissa Olson, a journalist and community archivist, will contribute her unique perspective to the event. Her work highlights the resiliency of Indigenous, Black, and people of color in Minnesota. Olson's award-winning audio documentary, "Stolen Childhoods," and her involvement in preserving Indigenous radio programming demonstrate her dedication to amplifying marginalized voices.
