The upcoming Wheelchair Athletics Try It Day in Nanaimo at the Rotary Bowl presents an exciting opportunity for Junior Wheelchair athletes aged 8-20 from Vancouver Island communities. Taking place on April 27, 2024, the event will feature various activities such as races, relays, shot put, and softball throw. Participants will have the chance to try out sports wheelchairs provided by BC Wheelchair Sports and are encouraged to bring a friend or family member to join in on the fun. Special guest coach Navarra Houldin will be present to offer guidance and support throughout the practice session. Lunch will be provided, so please notify organizers of any dietary restrictions. No prior experience is necessary, but participants should be able to self-propel a manual wheelchair. Registration is required for this free event, offering an inclusive and engaging experience for young athletes looking to explore the world of wheelchair sports in a supportive setting.
