Words on the Thirds is a program of monthly poetry workshops held at the SoCo Arts Lab in Tracys Landing, Maryland. These workshops aim to foster a local community of poets and aspiring poets, providing a platform to explore the art of poetry. Led by Nancy Murray, a published poet, playwright, storyteller, and author, these workshops offer a space for participants to discover, develop, and share their poetic voice. No prior experience is required, making it accessible to all who have an interest in words and their potential. The workshops will culminate in a collaborative poetry and visual art exhibition and publication in June 2024. Poets who attend at least six workshops will have the opportunity to apply for a slot in the exhibition. Those selected will be paired with a juried artist from the Arts Lab, resulting in a unique collaboration that will be showcased at the exhibition. Additionally, the poetry and art created during the project will be published. Words on the Thirds is part of the Arts Lab's vision to create a thriving arts destination in Southern Anne Arundel County, where the power of creative expression can be experienced by all. The Arts Lab is supported by the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County, Maryland State Arts Council, Dippel & Co., and Herrington Harbour North.
