Words on War is an event that pays tribute to this dark day in history, inviting artists and performers such as theatermaker Tijmen Dokter to take the stage. Through their poignant words, they will transport us back in time to that fateful day, 80 years ago. This event aims to bridge the gap between the past and the present, drawing connections to the wars of today. Amidst stories of oppression, tales of hope for the future will also be shared. Immerse yourself in the narratives of theatermaker and public historian Tijmen Dokter, listen to the captivating storytelling of Chiem van Straaten, and hear the profound insights of (former) city poet Heidi Koren and campus poet Thijs Kersten. The evening will conclude with a thought-provoking reflection on freedom by poet, writer, and columnist Qader Shafiq.
