Join artist Michael Smoot at the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center (BMAC) for an immersive two-hour workshop exploring the world of relief printmaking. No prior experience is necessary, making this workshop accessible to all. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own unique designs, which will be expertly laser-engraved onto a 5 in. x 8 in. block. Under the guidance of Smoot, attendees will then use these blocks to hand-print their designs using a traditional etching press. The workshop will take place in BMAC's galleries, where a temporary installation of the press will be set up for this special event. 

Michael Smoot is a highly respected artist and Professor of the Practice in Print and Paper at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University. With an impressive background, including training at the renowned Tamarind Institute, Smoot has worked in prestigious fine art print studios and taught at esteemed institutions across the country. His passion for printmaking extends beyond the studio, as he believes that it can foster collaboration, bridge differences, and ignite creativity within communities. This event is presented in conjunction with the BMAC exhibition, Michael Smoot: And to this World.
