Yayoi Kusama has constantly faced the critical realities of life and death as pressing issues. Her experience of the Pacific War in a complex family environment, along with her overcoming of suicidal impulses triggered by trauma and neurosis through her creative practices, has influenced her perception of these issues. This exhibition unveils Kusama’s evolving outlook on life and death, alongside the corresponding shifts in her artistic presentation, through a series of diverse works—from her 1940s and 1950s paintings, which bear the imprint of war, to her very latest pieces. After relocating to the United States in 1957, Kusama gained a reputation for her net paintings and sculptures that embody ‘self-obliteration’: the feeling of losing the boundary between the self and the other through the obsessive repetition of motifs originating from her hallucinations. In her anti-war happenings in the late 1960s, she painted dots onto the human body using the same concept of ‘self-obliteration’ while also highlighting the beauty of life and the human body. During the 1970s and 80s, following the loss of her father and her lover, as well as her return to Japan due to health issues, Kusama produced numerous dark-toned collages and three-dimensional works centered on the theme of death, as well as poetry and novels imbued with a sense of mortality. As she continued creating fantastical works exploring death and the afterlife, her works from the late 1980s began to explore themes of transmigration and cyclical returns to eternity through ‘self-obliteration’. Kusama’s works, which increasingly incorporated more colors, reveal how her creative process evolved from a means of coping with death to becoming synonymous with her very existence. In her painting series from 2000 onwards, Kusama has been relentlessly depicting the beauty of life and the joy of living on canvases overflowing with vibrant colors, driven by the ever-looming presence of her own death.

Enter the park:
I arrived at 10 o&#39;clock for the 11:30 admission ticket. Go buy equipment first, then engrave and eat. The time is just right.

It is recommended to buy some in China. It is better to buy wizard robes and wands in the park. You can engrave your own name [grin]. I also bought a hat and scarf that I brought in China. The quality is better than that of the scenic spot. It is recommended to go a small area in advance. There is a shopping store on the left side of the hall before entering the park. You can buy all the equipment you need (there are ties here, but no shirts or short skirts. It is recommended to buy them in China). Don&#39;t buy other things first, because the exit is the shopping store. It takes about 15 minutes to engrave your name. Be sure to go early to change~ The queue time is short.

Lobby
On the right side of the entrance is the service area where you can store your bags, free of charge.
On the left is the tour guide rental. As an old Harry Potter fan, it is completely useless. It has too few explanations ~ 1500 yen, half the size of a brick... so heavy.
The front of the inside is the lounge, with 270-degree surround loop images. It is recommended to watch a loop when you come out, about 3 minutes, and you can take a break.
On the left is the shopping store: go shopping first, then store your bags, including change of clothes, magic wand packaging, etc.
On the right is the restaurant, which is the same as the restaurant in Hogwarts. It&#39;s so impressive. The taste of the meal is average, but it is better than British food [snickering]

The entrance is the first
Wandering to the end of an area, there is a restaurant.
Outdoors is butter beer (non-alcoholic, cups can be taken away) and snacks.
Indoors is a meal + dessert.
There are two special features of the dessert: the mandrake is made vividly, Hedwig is cute and adorable, the main focus is on taking pictures, and it tastes really average. 1600 yen each, the main focus is here.
Pork pie is recommended, it is really delicious.

The first stop is the introduction area. It is all in Japanese. The translation software is not very powerful. It only translates less than 20%. It probably talks about why this is done and what is done. No photos are allowed.
The second stop is the entrance to the Hogwarts Hall. Those who have birthdays can go and push open that door. The Hogwarts scene is highly restored. A wave of tourists is allowed in about every 15 minutes, so if you don&rsquo;t take enough photos, you can take them slowly from here, because it is a waste of energy to go back, and there are too many places to take photos later.

The fourth stop: the dormitory, you can interact. Scan the QR code and register to get your own QR code. All free interactions require this QR code. It is recommended to take a screenshot and save it. The interaction here is in several different scenes. You can shoot a 15-second video and your video will be displayed on the painting on the dormitory wall. There are 5 backgrounds for shooting. Remember to find your own video and record it after you finish shooting, otherwise it will be covered by the next one in a while.
