The airline's primary hubs are in Fort Lauderdale (Florida) and Detroit (Michigan). Spirit Airlines was initially established as Charter One, providing charter tours to entertainment destinations such as Las Vegas and the Bahamas. In 1992, it transitioned into scheduled passenger services and was renamed Spirit Airlines. In 2023, Spirit Airlines was the seventh largest passenger carrier in North America.
