The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic! It's right in the city center, just a few hundred meters from the Central Station and Dam Square. Chinatown and the Red Light District are also just a stone's throw away. There are tons of restaurants nearby, including many Chinese options. The hotel itself was very clean and quiet inside. The only downside was that our room was on the second floor, and there was a bright light fixture right outside our window that stayed on all night. Plus, it happened to be King's Day celebrations, and our room was directly above where the festivities were happening. The cheers and revelry from people drinking went on until late into the night, and the soundproofing wasn't great, making it impossible to sleep. Overall, though, I'm still quite satisfied.

Great location, close to the train station and the city's main attractions. There's a tram stop nearby, and you can be in the museum district in just 10 minutes. We were able to check in earlier than expected, and the room looked just like the pictures. It was clean, but very basic – no slippers or tissues. This is the first time I've stayed in a 4-star hotel room without cups (just glasses) and teaspoons (just wooden stirrers). Instant coffee in the room for a 4-star hotel is pretty underwhelming; usually, at this level, you get pour-over coffee or a Nespresso machine. The price is high, but for the same money, you'd get a much higher standard in a 4-star hotel in neighboring Belgium.

Location is great! with walking distance to Museums and main shopping and dining areas of Amsterdam. Nearest tram is Museumplein, and about 5-10mins walk. Room was small and toilet was quite tight, with basic shampoo and shower gel only, but spending most time outdoor exploring it didn’t matter much. Bed was comfortable and warm for the winter - opened the windows for better ventilation, overall good. They have an elevator, that helps bringing luggages easier to upper floors.

This is a pretty standard luxury hotel, with no major issues. There's a mini-fridge, but it's not cold enough and doesn't come stocked with anything. However, the umbrella is a high-end carbon fiber one, which is quite rare and a nice touch. The bathroom drain had a bit of a problem, probably a clog from hair that needs to be cleaned promptly. My biggest issue, though, was the front desk – they were incredibly slow! Especially during check-out. I've never seen a hotel where you have to wait in line one by one; usually, you just leave your room card and go.

Overall, this stay was just average! The hotel boasts a fantastic view, and the surrounding area is convenient for dining and shopping. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and the window offered a wide view. The front desk staff were reasonably friendly and recommended nearby attractions. The breakfast had a good variety of options and was decent in taste.

Here’s a firm, professional complaint that clearly states your concerns without making it unnecessarily aggressive. It focuses on the issues you described and requests a formal investigation. Dear Hotel Manager, I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with the treatment I received during my recent stay at your hotel. This experience has been one of the most humiliating and unprofessional hotel experiences I have ever encountered. Firstly, I was charged €250 for smoking in the room. While I understand that hotels have strict no-smoking policies and I am willing to accept the applicable penalty if a violation occurred, nothing justifies the way your staff handled the situation. Despite me clearly instructing your staff not to enter my room, they forcefully entered without my permission. At that moment, I was not properly dressed, making the situation extremely embarrassing and a serious invasion of my privacy. This conduct was completely unacceptable. Furthermore, during this interaction, two members of your staff spoke to me in Dutch in what appeared to be an abusive and mocking manner. Although I do not understand Dutch, their tone, gestures, and overall behaviour were intimidating, disrespectful, and deeply humiliating. No guest should ever be treated in such a degrading way. The second issue concerns my food delivery. I had ordered food late at night, and it was left at the reception. When I went to collect it a few hours later, I was informed that the food had been thrown away. I was never contacted, no attempt was made to inform me that my order had arrived, and no explanation was provided as to why my personal property had been discarded. This is completely unacceptable and demonstrates a shocking lack of respect for guests and their belongings. The combination of these incidents reflects an alarming lack of professionalism, respect for guest privacy, and basic customer service standards. I expect the following: 1. A formal investigation into the conduct of the staff involved. 2. A written explanation as to why my room was entered against my explicit instructions. 3. An explanation as to why my food delivery was disposed of without my consent or any attempt to contact me. 4. An apology addressing the unacceptable treatment I experienced. 5. A review of your staff’s conduct and training to ensure that no other guest is subjected to such behaviour. I chose Mövenpick expecting a high standard of hospitality. Instead, I left feeling disrespected, humiliated, and extremely disappointed. I look forward to receiving your prompt response and an explanation regarding these serious matters. Yours sincerely, Lauv Jaiswal If you intend to escalate this to Mövenpick’s corporate customer relations or to post it as a public review, I can also help you draft a stronger version suitable for those channels.

I stayed at Hotel Estherea in Amsterdam and had an excellent experience. The location is great; you can pretty much walk everywhere, and it's situated in a beautiful area right by the canal. The hotel itself is super charming, with classic, cozy decor full of delightful details. The room was comfortable, clean, and well-equipped, with a very good bed. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a well-located, comfortable, and elegant stay in Amsterdam.

Hotel was very far from the ferry terminal. This was known when I booked the hotel so no fault of the hotel just that if you are booking here, it will take you 15-20 mins to get to the ferry terminal to take F2 ferry to Amsterdam Centraal. Otherwise take a bus to the metro stop in 10 mins would be faster for exploring the city. Breakfast was basic but included free so nothing to complain about. Room was generally clean. Only small issue that it can get really busy during peak season and lifts take 2-3 mins to arrive. Breakfast if you eat too late spills out of the main dining area. Very crowded. Best to eat breakfast before 8am. Many nice food places and supermarket near hotel.

The location is a bit out of the way; it's about a 7-minute walk to Tram Line 2 and 12 minutes to the metro station. Getting to the city center takes over half an hour. The room was very simple and clean, and the air conditioning worked great. The bathroom had a partial wet/dry separation, but water would still splash into the dry area when showering. The shower gel had a unique scent (like a high-end traditional Chinese medicine). The front desk staff were not very friendly. Both check-in and check-out are self-service, and the staff preferred to chat rather than offer assistance. The employee who handled my luggage storage after check-out was very impatient.

The room having a microwave was a huge plus, very convenient for heating up quick meals. The room itself was actually quite spacious, though the bathroom was on the smaller side. The front desk staff were incredibly warm and friendly. But the absolute best part? They have an adorable orange cat you can pet! Cat lovers, this is your sign! The cat is very mellow and lets you pet him all you want. It's also quite convenient if you're taking the FlixBus, as it's only a 15-minute walk to the station. The hotel has two floors and no elevator, but it's manageable; if you have heavy luggage, you'll only ever have to carry it up one flight of stairs at most.

I had a lovely stay at Generator. If your goal is to meet people, this is a great choice. It's a very social hostel, and during the weekend I stayed, there was a party going on from the basement all the way up to the first floor. It created a fun atmosphere, and the staff were all lovely and welcoming. However, if your priority is getting a good night's sleep, this might not be the best option. I stayed in a 6-bed dorm with two triple bunk beds, and the room felt quite cramped, so you could hear almost every movement. The large storage drawers under the beds were large, but they were also quite noisy whenever someone opened or closed them. And I told you about those parties right? You could still hear the music from the room late into morning.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, making it a great place to relax after a day of exploring Amsterdam. The location was excellent—just a short walk from Noord Metro Station, with the city centre only around 15 minutes away. It made getting around incredibly convenient. A special thank you to the team for the thoughtful surprise to celebrate my parents’ wedding anniversary. It was a lovely gesture that made their special day even more memorable, and we truly appreciated the kindness. The only minor issue was that housekeeping was a little inconsistent. We left a note requesting mineral water to be refilled, but on some days it wasn’t replenished. That said, the staff at reception were always very responsive, and we could easily collect anything we needed from there. Overall, we had a great stay and would happily recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam. 😊

Standard room, what you'd expect from a chain hotel. The lobby area was nice and spacious, with a bar that looked quite nice too. Huge (paid) parking area with two levels. It's close to a metro station, but it really is quite far from everything else. If you are planning to visit the city, I'd highly recommend to stay more closer to the city center because after late night, you'll have to get an expensive Taxi to come back. No late night tram stops nearby. The rooms were typical in size, bathroom, amenities, etc. They stored our bags until late evening, which we appreciated. There is a small kiosk that you can buy munchees if you take on a Brocolli adventure, with cheap chocolates and chips.

The first impression of the hotel is quite favorable: it's a modern high-rise building, check-in is very quick, the rooms are decorated in the currently fashionable ”industrial” style, and the views from the window are beautiful. However, after a while, you notice some drawbacks. First and foremost: the hotel takes a hefty 150-euro deposit upon check-in. It's understandable that the hotel is concerned about the safety of the rooms, but for that kind of money, you'd expect luxurious furnishings. What you end up with are ”basic amenities.” There are no slippers, no robes, no conditioner for washing hair, not even proper ceramic cups for hot drinks. The overall impression is that the hotel isn't a 4-star (as advertised). It's a ”good 3-star.”

This is a 4-star hotel, but the room didn't even have bottled water, slippers, toothbrushes, cotton pads, or any of those small amenities you might need. We had to ask for slippers, and they brought them. The sink was clogged, but they fixed it when we asked. Room cleaning was superficial; one time, they didn't even make the bed, just took out the trash. All the dispensers (shampoo, soap) were nearly empty; we had to request refills. The internet in the room was poor, probably because we were on a high floor. The canal view from the 7th floor was a pleasant surprise – it was definitely worth it. Among the staff, Kostya was very friendly and helpful. The other ladies were less welcoming.

The hotel's location is excellent, right by the square and Queen's Department Store. I highly recommend it; getting around is super convenient. The staff were all very friendly and helpful (except for a few in the restaurant who seemed to be from Southeast Asia; they spoke to you as if they were scolding you, and their attitude was quite rude, which really detracted from the overall staff image). The design is very novel, but the foundation felt a bit unstable – check out the picture, it seemed wobbly, and I honestly hesitated to book it at first, haha. However, once I actually stayed, the 7 elevators were super fast, and the room design was very interesting. The only downside was that the room walls were all concrete... The view was excellent though; it's so hard to find a high-rise hotel in Amsterdam! Breakfast offered a much wider variety than typical 3 or 4-star hotels. The hotel is about a 30-minute walk from Amsterdam Zuid Station. I'm not sure what tracks are next to it. There's also an Upside Down Museum across the street that I didn't get a chance to visit.

Excellent room, excellent location and atmosphere of the hotel. Staff however, too often, go according to the 'book', and find it hard to think and improvise on the spot. It's as if they are under trained. When checking in there is no need to ask the guest to fill info on the iPad. You have this info, to stay in touch, already. Don't burden the weary traveler with trivial nonsense. If the sun shines, finally after weeks of grey and rain, and a guest sees the patio with tables in the sun, and this guest wants to have tea in the sun outside in the patio, this has to be a possibility. Don't say, well it's not the season so it's closed, it doesn't make sense, you're a top hotel, not the vander Valk. Improvise, think on your feet, explain that he is welcome to sit there and that his tea will be brought out, but it might take a few minutes longer. This way the guest feels listened to and that the moon is even possible. The kitchen is incredible, the food is wonderful. Last evening I had dinner at the Jansz., two ladies working, were very kind, helpful and attentive, they understood the delicate balance between asking how things are going and leaving the guest alone. I want them to know i appreciate them. Please extend my gratitude to them. Also the Asian looking lady who worked during breakfast this morning, was excellent. Please let her know as well. Finally, the staff at the entrance - getting cabs etc. - are great. Some of the male staff are too - in Dutch, popy yoopy. I am your guest and not your friend. That's all, and that's enough. Thank you for a great stay and I hope to come back again when I am back in the Netherlands. Kind regards, Diederik Lugt

The hotel is located in the heart of Amsterdam's Dam Square, to Chinatown, just a 10-minute walk from the red light district. The hotel is opposite the Queen's department store, the most exclusive department store in Amsterdam with many designer shops, and the shopping street is the second road on the left side of the hotel. On the pedestrian street, about two or thirty minutes is the flower market. On the right side is the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. On the first floor is the famous watch shop. Walk to Haicheng Restaurant for five minutes. The hotel has only 16 rooms in a boutique hotel. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the airport. It can be reached by walk from Amsterdam Central Railway Station for about 15 minutes. It is recommended to take a taxi for large luggage, because the road along the road is uneven and difficult to tow. Between 20-30 euros, because you have to detour. The hotel ci is located on the third floor, the service is warm and thoughtful, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, stylish and sophisticated, the smart panel control system is convenient to use, provide late bed service, welcome chocolate and use French Langfan toiletries in Amsterdam hotel Should be among the best. The hotel offers a restaurant on the third floor, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The only products are available, and the price is not high. Because there are too many restaurants around the hotel, the competition is strong. The bar is also on the third floor, and the evening is fragrant. This hotel is worth checking in, but it needs to be booked 15 to 30 days in advance, otherwise the price will rise.

Built in 1867, the hotel sits on the banks of the Amster River, much like the Peace Hotel on the Huangpu River, boasting stunning views! Architecturally, the AESTEL HOTEL (InterContinental) was historically unparalleled in its grandeur. While the interior facilities are a bit dated now, the overall stay experience was still excellent. First, the service was superb! The doormen and bellhops were very gentlemanly and traditional; the front desk staff were warm and professional, able to arrange/book tour tickets, and very considerate in negotiating late check-out; the lobby manager was also very welcoming and professional. Second, the breakfast wasn't extensive, but the taste was decent, and the service was attentive. There was a dedicated tea room with a fantastic view—perfect for sunbathing! Third, the rooms weren't small, with clear functional divisions, and the river views were fantastic. It wasn't noisy, and being right on the riverbank, there was no disturbance from pedestrians. In short, this InterContinental hotel experience was excellent. Next time I visit Aden, if I don't want to spend more money on a W-class hotel, the AESTEL will still be my choice!

Steigenberger Airport Hotel Amsterdam actually has a whole honeycomb for breakfast! Their breakfast is truly amazing – a honeycomb, grapefruit, freshly made 'jianbing guozi' (a savory Chinese crepe), and the best omelets I've ever had. Definitely lives up to its reputation as a classic German hotel. Oh, and out of the four pillows, one is lavender-filled. It felt lumpy at first, and I thought it was a buckwheat pillow. I slept wonderfully. There were many Chinese and German guests, and a lot of flight attendants were also having breakfast there. There's a forest near the hotel, perfect for morning runs. However, the facilities are a bit old, and the toiletries feel like those in a budget hotel, all 2-in-1. Great location and staff, but poor cleanliness I liked this hotel overall, mainly because of its fantastic location right in the center of Amsterdam. It was extremely convenient for walking around the city, and all the main attractions are very close by. The staff was friendly, multilingual, and helpful with everything. They gave us great recommendations on where to go and even lent us an umbrella for the rain. Our room on the 4th floor was very spacious, especially by Amsterdam standards. However, the cleanliness was a major disappointment. The room was poorly cleaned: there was a lot of dust, the closets were dirty, and the coffee machine was so filthy that we didn't even want to use it. My overall impression is not bad, but due to the lack of cleanliness, I would not stay at this hotel again.

My overall impression is not bad, but due to the lack of cleanliness, I would not stay at this hotel again.

We arrived and were told we could check in at 2 PM. We went into town, and when we returned around 3:30 PM, the room still hadn't been cleaned. Luckily, we received two complimentary drinks as compensation. Once in the room, we found the curtain was broken, leaving a gap where light streamed in. The TV by the bathtub wasn't working, and the shower kept fluctuating between hot and cold. We reported these issues in the late afternoon, and someone was supposedly coming to fix them. We went out again and returned after a couple of hours, only to find the curtain still broken. We went back to reception, but the maintenance team had already left. Since we didn't want to be woken up by light, a staff member eventually went to try and fix it themselves, but unfortunately, they couldn't. Despite these unpleasant circumstances, I would still recommend the hotel. It's a nice hotel, but the staff aren't always as efficient as they could be.

This hotel is a great value, especially compared to the expensive options near Amsterdam Centraal. It's super close to Sloterdijk Station, and if you have a Eurail Pass, the train ride is free! The room was spacious, clean, and quiet, with excellent ventilation and natural light. Breakfast, while not a huge variety, was very good quality. I'd suggest adding conditioner to the amenities. On the downside, the front desk staff seemed a bit stiff, and a housekeeper knocked on my door early on checkout day, which was disruptive. I hope they can improve their service.

The good: -The room and bathroom was spacious and comfortable. -On site parking (25€/night). The bad: -As you enter this establishment, there is a big sign saying that we need to help the hotel reduce their carbon footprint by asking the staff not to clean our room. To go with the text there is a picture of a sad looking polar bear (of course, always the polar bear). I'm wondering, if my room is not cleaned, do I pay a cheaper rate, because cleaning is included in the price? If not, I'm wondering if this hotel has joined the climate cult just because it's a great way to gain money. Make people feel guilty about having a clean room, and you need less cleaning staff , less cleaning products, less time….

Excellent stay near Schiphol Airport. The hotel was clean, modern, and very comfortable. The room was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and everything was well maintained. The staff were friendly and professional, making check-in and check-out quick and easy. The free airport shuttle was very convenient and ran on time. Breakfast offered a good variety of fresh food. It was easy to reach both the airport and Amsterdam city center. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Amsterdam or catching an early flight.

Location of the hotel was great. It was a walking distance to the nearest bus stop, and there is a McDonald’s beside the hotel too. There’s free airport shuttle service which made it very convenient to travel to the airport. Room was clean and there’s a gym too.

The hostel is conveniently located, with a bus stop just a two to three-minute walk away. It's also not far from the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum, about a ten-minute walk. The front desk staff are enthusiastic and have a good attitude. Less positive experiences: 1. The room is quite small; there's hardly any space left after putting down luggage. 2. Cleanliness needs improvement. There were visible dirty marks on the duvet cover (picture 3), many small spots on the carpet (picture 5), and ants on the room walls and bed (picture 7). 3. There is no kettle. 4. The balcony is shared among several rooms (picture 8), and the room has no openable windows. If the balcony door is closed, the air doesn't circulate, but leaving it ajar feels unsafe. 5. Information displayed on the website platform is inconsistent with reality. For example, it shows 'laundry service' (picture 9), but the hostel actually doesn't have a laundry room for guests. They only provide addresses of external laundromats for guests to take their clothes to themselves.
