This older hotel had very unique remodeled rooms. The rooms in the low 100 series of rooms (eg. 104), were situated on two levels. In our room, there was a large sitting room on the lower level. Stairs led up to the bedroom and bath on the upper level. Windows extend through both levels. I have never seen a similar layout. Rooms on the lobby level (two digit numbers) were standard hotel rooms. Our immediate neighbors had the bedroom and bath on the bottom level, with the sitting room above. I liked our layout best. The room was very clean and modern with a fast internet service. The bathroom was small with a tub. Breakfast was better than average. Quiet. Centrally located on the island of Ortigia. There is a small parking lot of the hotel opposite costing 15 euro per night. Friendly staff spoke excellent English. Overall a very pleasant experience. As it was part of a tour, I can not comment on the cost and value.

I travel and alone most the time . I chose this hotel because of location to the train station and PRICE . There are hundreds of hotels to stay in . Most you will need a taxi to get to . Sicily was here before Jesus and like most of Italy you visit to see the sights . As for being safe I had absolutely no problems . As for being dirty and run down I’ve been in much worse at the Holiday Inn USA . I’m in my room to sleep and the mattress was a comfortable memory foam that let me sleep better than my Sealy Posturepedic at home . The staff was more than professional and very polite . The breakfast was much better than most in Sicily . Remember what I said about cost ? The breakfast is good and yes there are hotels with better food but it should be a fast quick meal because you know you can’t wait to sit along side a street for lunch so it’s way more than sufficient. A 24 hour desk is better than many in Sicily should you have a problem . As for the noise so many complaints were about ? Italy can be noisy but I didn’t need ear plugs . The TV ? It had CNN but I came here to get away from the USA and not worry about the blunders I’m missing out on . There is a Hop on Bus just a few blocks away and at 5 euros all day it’s a great bargain . Sit on the right side of the bus as you will see better at most sights HOWEVER get off the bus at the sights you want to see . It’s a bargain and my hotel desk clerk told me to hop on board . So complain about a bargain or enjoy Siracusa. The choice is yours but I am a world traveler and I have no problem recommending this hotel . Remember that you can spend much more and by doing so you may feel obligated to stay in your room on most of your visit because you paid too much . It is a 5 minute walk from the train station and about a 15 minute walk to the center of Ortigia. The island is just not that big and this hotel is plenty close and just fine fir your stay .

We tend to be more budget travelers but we splurged on this elegant hotel and were not disappointed. Our superior room on the second floor was beautiful, with high ceilings, stone walls, accent lighting, and the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on. The hotel staff was very nice in helping me find nearby free street parking for two days, literally adjacent to the hotel. The breakfast buffet looked amazing but we were too cheap to add that cost and got great pastries and cappuccino at the Dolce&Freddo Pasticeria right down the block for a quarter of the cost. We were happy to leave our car behind and make the 10-15 minutes walk to the center of Ortigia or the other direction to the archeological zone. Not being in the center of Ortigia made it a relatively quiet place as well. We saw the highlights in two full days but could have stayed longer. Siracusa was a delight in early April ... Ortigia was buzzing with local families doing a passeggiata in their finest on Palm Sunday! We were 100% satisfied with our stay at Caportigia Boutique Hotel and recommend it highly.

We stayed 4 days at the hotel for our company retreat (28 people). The hotel is a perfect choice to combine business and pleasure. We truly enjoyed the breakfast with local products, coffee breaks, drinks and lunch/dinners with bespoke menus, previously arranged with the reservation manager. They also facilitated introductions with tour guides and travel agencies for our day trips to Etna, Taormina and Noto. Everything went smoothly despite the complexity of organising a retreat with people coming from 15 different counties. The whole staff is obsessed to make customers feel home. Special mentions to Francesca, Maurizio, Dario and Umberto among others. Overall, I would strongly recommend the hotel to everyone looking to organise a company retreat/business trip. Grazie mille!

4 star hotel without a bar!! restaurant is not in the hotel, some small building that looks old fashion, and doesnt match the modern decor of the hotel. breakfsat restaurant is terrible, tables without table cloths, no cutlery no glasses, no napkins. absolutely terrible for a 4 star hotel, in fact for any hotel. breakfast buffet is old fashioned, we have booked it with breakfast included, my girlfriend wanted eggs, and she had to pay extra for it!! there is no milk on the buffet, we have to go and ask for it at the bar? what is that all about ?? there is no vegan menu, neither vegan option. There is nothing written in the hotel in english, staff dont speak english. how ? in a hotel clearly filled with tourists from other countries. i couldnt even put in a complaint with receptionist, because she doesnt speak english. there is no CCTV in this hotel. everything about this hotel is old fashioned, mentality, staff, restaurant, breakfast. it was like staying in a hotel 50 years ago.

Arrived at about 19.15 without pre booking. Receptionist, who I think is the owner was very helpful. He offered us alot of tips regarding restaurants and Ortigia. We parked infront of the hotel in the reserved parking. Hotel is very clean, rooms are big in size. It is situated in an old building without lifts, but he offered to take our bags upstairs. As their was a private party in another building infront, he gave us rooms on the other side of the building so we could have a good night rest. Breakfast wasn’t exactly what we expected, 1 choice of cake, mini croissants, rusks, jam, biscuits and plain yoghurt. Maybe the reason is because he wasn’t expecting us and at this time of year, it’s not that busy. Position is very close to ortigia. In 5 minutes walk you ll be in the Main Street with many restaurants. All in all good priced hotel with a very friendly, caring owner who maked you enjoy your stay.

Siracuse is an historic, God forsaken port city in deep south Italy, in fact in east Sicily. Maybe, just maybe, these circumstances explain the locals persistent indolence and no purpose rebellious attitude A clear example of this context is this hotel. I left early several more than once and every time I went through reception there was the invariable group of employees, lead by the owner or manager, gathering around a computer and passionately discussing trivialities, Italian style. Of course, no mask and no social distancing. In fact, it was not strange to catch an employee hastingly putting on a mask the moment he/she noticed a guest in the surroundings The hotel is centrally located but then the “centro historico” is rather small.Gran Albergo Alfeo sells itself as a four star establishment but tolerates one star behaviour such as clothes lines set up in the balcony of its most expensive rooms.Maybe that is because we are in Siracuse, Sicily, deep south of Italy, “l’altra Italia” as they say in Milan and with good reason. Breakfast is Spartan and service by a well coordinated waiters. Cleaning is fair and staff is friendly maybe because they are tollerated

Very good location at the same price, very close to the business district and the church square. The rooms are very spacious, very different from those cramped hotel rooms. It is more suitable for the whole family to travel together. The breakfast is very rich, and it is not compliant with a five-star hotel. If the check out is too early, the hotel will prepare a take away breakfast in advance. The only thing to note is that the front desk is not staffed 24 hours a day. If you arrive too late, it is best to greet the hotel in advance.

As we did not rent a car this hotel was an excellent choice for us as there is no parking anywhere nearby. We did lots of walking, used the bus to go to Noto and taxis from the airport. Lots of superb restaurants nearby, we were spoilt for choice. The hotel is spotlessly clean and a special mention to Margerita, head of housekeeping who does a wonderful job.Breakfast were good but it is a pity that the restaurant does not open until 7.30pm.which meant that we did not ever have dinner there. We prefer to eat around 7pm. and all the other nearby place open earlier. We would certainly recommend this hotel.

The bridge to Ortigia is possibly a 10 min walk from the B&B Nike and Ortigia is absolutely wonderful. The B&B is also located within walking distance of the bus station (we took the bus from Catania and onwards to Palermo). The archeological park (also highly recommended) is a 30 to 40 min walk. The room and bathroom were roomy, spotless and comfortable. Vittoria and Angelo were both helpful and personable. While the B&B is located a few floors up there is a lift for the suitcases which certainly is helpful for us older folk!

We stayed here for three nights in September 2019. Unfortunately we had the room on the ground floor which whilst lovely and spacious has no dedicated outdoor area as the opening patio doors lead straight on to the cafe terrace. It may also be noisier than higher rooms albeit it is a very quiet area during the night. The shared roof terrace is great though, and we had it to ourselves both times we went up there. Breakfast was self-service and there didn’t appear to be a massive choice although I think you can ask for other things from behind the counter such as croissants etc. The coffee was excellent. Location-wise, it is only a short walk to the main thoroughfares and associated shops and cafes. We arrived by train and a taxi cost 15 Euros each way - it’s not really walking distance with luggage.

The views from the breakfast terrace over the harbour were lovely, and the breakfast buffet was one of the better ones, the bed was comfortable enough, the aircon was ok, and the in-room safe was one of very few I encountered in Sicily which actually worked, but there were issues. I was in a room with an internal view. The first evening, when I tried to slide the shower door closed it came off the rails, almost fell on me, and I had to carefully lift it to the corner of the bathroom. I mentioned it at reception the next morning, and it was back on the rails by that evening, but I'm not sure how permanent the fix was. The second evening there was not enough hot water for a proper shower. I had picked this B&B in part because the website mentioned secure parking, at an additional cost. I was phoned on the afternoon of my arrival to check what time I planned to arrive (I think in part so that someone could take my car to the secure car park). I arrived a little earlier (about half an hour earlier) than planned, in a torrential rainstorm, and having driven round the block in circles trying to work out where to stop to check in. Having stopped on the street very close to the hotel (somewhere where I think parking wasn't allowed, as opposed to one of the "Ortigia residents only" spaces, I checked in. The friendly helpful receiptionist/manager said that he'd move my car to the parking space, but it ended up in one of the spaces on the street, rather than a secure car park elsewhere (maybe the latter was full?) The next night I arrived back after 8pm when reception closes, so ended up leaving the car in the conveniently located but eye-wateringly expensive harbour car park (30 Euros from 8 pm to around 11 am the next day).

The rooms are very beautiful and stylishly decorated. They have everything you expect from a B&B. The air conditioning is very modern and you can make various settings. The rooms also have roller shoes that you can really make it dark. Unfortunately, you can hear the street noise. A very big negative point is the cleanliness. Surfacely everything seemed clean at first sight, but several hairs were both in the bathroom and in the bed. Also the duche was stuck with hair. The rooms were "cleaned" only once in the time (4 days). After the cleaning power there was only the bed made. Dental paste spots on the floor and grumbles were still there. The towels were also only rearranged (one was even wet from the shower). I don't need a stranger in the room if she doesn't do anything there.
