The hotel is slightly outside of the centre of town but not really so much as to make any difference to us during a summer break where skis and boots are not an issue! This isn't really a full service hotel in that the reception desk is only open for a couple of hours a day, but the rooms are serviced daily and a decent breakfast is served in a light, airy room on the top floor. The owner/manager Michaela was on hand every morning with tips about the best walks to do and was helpful and friendly. The room itself was comfortable and we had an extra large balcony - although a deckchair would have been a plus, rather than just two upright plastic chairs. There was a refrigerator and additional sink, as well as a shower (no bath) and sink in the en suite. The TV had no English channels but the wifi was good. An enjoyable stay.

It was a strange experience as we were booked into the Steinbock, we liked the 'Alpine' look of the Steinbock. Anyway, near the date we were due to arrive, by chance looking for the Steinbock's menu, we noticed that it was shut and guests were being sent to the Vereina - but we had not been told this and only found out by chance. Had we not found out for ourselves, we'd have turned up at the Steinbock - and found a building site! The owner was apparantly having an apartment built on top. The notification about the Steinbock's closure was not on the hotel web site at the time of booking. Anyway - it seems this did us a favour as the Vereina is actually rather a good hotel - so why be so coy about the hotel when it should be promoted better and the owners less shy about it? The hotel is big, a dominant location and should really be Klosters' leading hotel. The style of the vast reception/sitting area is a little odd - sort of Alpine meets Asia with some furniture and fittings more like something from a hotel in Singapore, but it's smart and comfortable enough. The room we had - after haggling as we had booked a higher price double at the Steinbock and been offered a lower price double at the Vereina - was a suite and was vast, probably bigger than most people's appartments. Very clean, comfortable and well appointed - it even had a kitchen, so you could live here comfortably for several days, or longer. Large and clean bathroom and comfortable bed, a huge sitting and dining room, with fire place and a huge terrace round two sides, with good views over the large garden and distant mountains. At the time we travelled, it was not possible to book the Vereina, though the hotel was quiet. In reality, a very nice, comfortable and good value hotel, well located and with good facilities, it deserves more attention. Dinner was in a much more Alpine styled restaurant, was quite pleasant and a nice setting. There is a large conservatory and sitting area, indoor pool and large garden. A short walk to the station and town centre. There is a garage under the hotel. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. No need to be shy Vereina - promote the hotel on its merits as its a good hotel.

In Switzerland, there are swimming pool saunas and fitness hotels. I have never seen this price for so many years, and it is still recommended in tourist resorts. Breakfast is simple, but you can also drink tea for free if you are not sure. Here is the closest to the ski resort, there is also a nice Swiss restaurant nearby. I can recommend Restaurant Gemsil. If it is a morning lunch afternoon tea, you can find it in Bäckerei-Konditorei-Café Weber, which is a very beautiful Viennese pastry shop. I will see it on the way to the ski resort.

Having stayed previously at the 5 star Seehof Hotel and also the Hilton Garden Inn both in Davos, I was pleasantly surprised by cleanliness, friendliness and value for money at the Hotel Dischma. Our room with rear balcony (best views) was well decorated and clean with en suite shower. The bed was comfortable and made up nicely each day and the room was cleaned and tidied to a good standard. Breakfast was standard continental but there was more than enough to get the day started and great fun was had with opening up our boiled eggs with the hotels ‘special’ egg cutter - in fact I’m getting one for myself to use at home. We used the restaurant twice and enjoyed our choices of food and the ambience. We found the staff and owners very friendly and helpful and I enjoyed the chance to use the hotels sauna and steam rooms. We would not hesitate to return.

I’m doing business in the area settling business and property, waiting documents, I’ve had a great oppertunity to discover so great parts of Davos that you wouldn’t normally discover about the history and culture. Davos Klosters is an amazing place, and perfect to go discover yourself and find a beautiful secluded bbq on a water stream with a few deer watching you from a distance.

The hotel is located in the middle of the two train stations. It takes about 15 minutes to walk, but there are buses that can get under the hotel and buses are more frequent. Good breakfast, cereal coffee, etc., you can make waffles yourself, if you want to eat fried eggs or boiled eggs, you need to tell the staff. The hygiene is very clean.

To book is one part of the trip, where to stay? can we bring the dog? parking? central versus not central, how to go to ski-lift etc Waldhuus really fit our criteria, however to book it ended up with roughly 20% cheaper via hotels.com versus directly at the hotel eventhough we tried to explain it to the reservation at the hotel... they couldn't do anything. We also had a mail conversation about half-board or not... one person wrote we could use ala-carte and then another person said no...which ended up in a exception for us, hmmm...this was no exception people around us just ordered other menus instead of 4-course Christmas dinner, the food its really average and for a 4-star hotel we expect a bit more. It was also a bit messy to get the table for dinner (we had booked half-board, so it should not be a problem) However, the room, pool, transport to ski-lift and the area around the hotel was great as well all staff whom we meet during the time. (the problem we had was the booking). Especially good is that you have a coffee machine and fresh water in the room. the rate should be 3,5 good but that doesn't exist so we rated it 4.
