The hotel is great, even though the building is over a hundred years old, the experience is great.
Location: Very good, in the city center, just over ten minutes walk to Oslo opera, and just over ten minutes away from the Nobel Peace awards venue
Room: Not big, but having such a big room in a downtown area is pretty good
Breakfast: Super great, a variety of snacks and fruits, and the waiters are also very nice

Arrived in Oslo specifically to see the Sam Smith concert. Could walk to and from the venue. This hotel has one of the best concierges in the business! Andrea was amazing - she answered every question and connected me with amazing providers. The bartenders are super nice. Staff is great. Front desk staff are super patient and you cannot beat the location. The room had a very nice balcony. It was clean and comfortable - if a bit pricey but in a country with 25% VAT what do you expect? Really liked the city and hope to return again one day. From$271

Very cool hotel in a very trendy, unique neighborhood. The staff was extremely friendly and our room was very comfortable. The hotel is easily walkable to a really cool neighborhood in Oslo but a bit aways from most of the ”attractions” if you are a tourist - fortunately Oslo is a small city. The only downside is the spa - for the price you pay for treatments/entrance, the facilities are pretty mediocre. The chairs are all plastic so it's really not a comfortable place to relax and there's no hot tub, aromatherapy, etc which I would expect from a property like this.From$296

So good that it was a bit unexpected. Most hotels in northern Europe are small, but this one is quite spacious. The building is relatively high, and the scenery is very good. Arrived on our ferry from Copenhagen before lunch so left luggage and wandered until checkin was possible. All so good so far. When we came to check in we asked to make sure the room didn’t have feather bedding - assured it was clear of feathers, however when went up to room this wasn’t the case. Went down, explained at which point after many discussions (explaining that I’m allergic to feather bedding over and over (as we had with the booking) I was offered another room which apparently was better (but the guy on reception didn’t seem to understand my question as to whether the new room would be free from feathers ….!) Went up to the room and of course it had feather bedding. We moved all of our luggage into the new room and my OH went down to reception this time and the same guy simply didn’t understand what we were explaining so OH requested another member of staff who did understand second time around. (Later bedding was all replaced which was then fine. ) the surprising thing was they had members of staff on reception whose English wasn’t quite up to basic requests (unusual for anywhere in Scandinavia) (while admitting my Norwegian is non-existent!) The bathroom was possibly the smallest I have ever witnessed, albeit it did have a bath with shower over. All v clean and fully functional. The pool and sauna were ok but a little small, but if you timed it you could use them. Generally the staff were a little slow (perhaps the hotel doesn’t have enough staff currently to service guests?) and service alone would put me off coming to stay here again unfortunately.From$136

The location is on the top of the mountain, the transportation is inconvenient, the bus stop to the city center is about 13 minutes away, the train station needs taxi, Oslo nobles, in addition, a large part of the hotel is newly renovated, facilities and daily necessities are not yet available, the room does not even have a phone. The room is not small, the bedside table and table are small, not commensurate with the room area, the bathroom is large, but unfortunately the glass door of the shower room is not well designed, the water will still be immersed. The Tjuvholmen I, As Home is a great choice for guests looking for accommodation in Oslo, having been recently opened in 2021. The hotel is just 2km away from Oslo Central Station. Transportation around the city is also convenient, with Nationaltheatret Metro Station within walking distance. There is no shortage of things to see in the area, with the National Theatre, Rådhuset and Akershus Fortress all nearby. Everything is there except what isn't there. If the room is empty, you can check in early and we can store your luggage for you. There is no refrigerator in the room, but a communal refrigerator is available in the lobby. The lobby also has a vending machine and a microwave. It is a 5-minute walk to Oslo Station and major tourist attractions are also within walking distance. Tram number 12, which goes to Vigeland Park, also stops right next to the hotel. I intend to visit again. I recommend it as a value-for-money hotel.From$68

Super location. Right next to oslo city mall and central station and all transport and entertainment food options. This is a modern hotel (or very thoroughly renovated). Entrance was very busy or maybe because I was there at around 2 pm. Very nice looking lobby with lots of seating spaces and good vibes. An Andy Warhol is a. Ice touch. Check in was smooth but room was not ready so I kept my bags in their bag room. It was ready when I came back at around 240. Elevator is a combination of using your card and entering your floor on a touch screen so don’t just hop in with someone else. Room was really modern, hip and user friendly. Smart tv, lots of storage spaces and big bathroom. The view was of the inner courtyard so not much. Bed was very comfortable and really overall liked the room a lot. Depending on your room number it could be a bit of a walk from the elevator so keep that in mind. I tried out the basement level which had sauna, pool, gym. Gym looked good but didn’t use and the sauna was very nice. The pool is round, very small and about the only negative of the hotel. Forget laps, you can sort of float around but even that becomes a problem if 2 or 3 people are in there. I wanted to see the views from the top so went to their restaurant and must say had a wonderful time. I wrote a separate review on Norda but suffice to say it was well worth the visit just for the views alone and the food was very good as well. Finally the breakfast was something else. Honestly I doubt if anyone can try out all the dishes as there are so many. Quality stuff I must add, different types of salmon, avocado halves(!) and what not. Really something to behold. Overall though definitely not cheap, I really liked the modern aesthetic, the prime location and excellent room facilities and the breakfast and Norda were just icing on the cake.From$153

If you're travelling solo and want somewhere handy in the centre of Oslo and aren't too fussed about some usual hotel comforts, then this will tick the box. It's not super expensive but it could also be a bit cheaper for what it offers. The rooms feel like university student rooms, which isn't a bad thing per se. I'm unsure what larger rooms looked like but despite mine having a double bed, 2 people would feel pretty cramped in there. The bathroom/shower was good, no fault there. The bed was comfy but the matress tended to slide around. There's no room service for cleaning up or refreshing linen, they do that on rotations of their own choosing. If you really want that service (which in any other hotel is a daily one) you can request I think. This is fine for 1 night but after a while you feel a bit grimy. I found some clumps of hair on the floor and in an underbed drawer. There's no kettle in the room which is the bare basic that a room should have in terms of amenities so people can make their own tea, coffee or noodles etc. You can buy tea or coffee in reception but it's worth just heading outside to grab something. My room didn't have wardrobe storage but did have wall bracket-hangers which did the job. There were plenty of sockets for charging things. Like I said for a person solo travelling and not wanting a hostel, this place is fine for 1 night or 2. I stayed 3 and it was too long in that hotel and too long in Oslo in general.From$69

I booked this hotel based on reviews saying that it was quite centrally located. And for the most part it is. The central train station is a 17-minute walk with luggage. But once you get to the hotel, there are steps and curbs. We came in from the airport in a taxi. (Avoid. The fare can give you a heart attack or a fine dining meal.) My luggage had broken and so I had to lug my, well, that's the reason they call it luggage. It's quite a walk from the taxi stand. We had to circle the hotel as the driver was not familiar. The rooms are small painted black and purple/reddish that seemed to be intentionally dramatic as the hotel is across the passageway from a theatre. It gave the room a dark tone and an Alfred-Hitchcock-Psycho sense. The toilet is in a smaller room separate from the bathroom sink and shower. I thought that the hotel tried to compensate. The breakfast was the best in my visit to seven cities. Then, included in the hotel package, was an afternoon tea and a dinner. The dinner was homey--salad, soup, fish, fries and soft drinks. If you are so minded, it could be a dinner. Staff were helpful. We had an issue with the room and after explaining the staff said: I do not really understand but let me come up and see how I can help. In contrast, some staff in other hotels have simply shrugged their dhoulders.From$129

Hotel location is very good, next to the train station, the service is also very in place, I will set a person's bed is 20m2 big bed room, the result is told that it is a single bed room (the cheapest file only 15m2). One of the reasons that I liked it so much was due to the excellent job Director, Imran Amin did as the hotels’ manager. I communicated with him via email before I arrived and he was very prompt in responding to my inquiries and greeted me warmly upon my arrival. He was always on hand to oversee that everything ran smoothly. He also had 2 super assistants at the front desk, Joe and Mohammed. Thanks guys for a fun stay in Oslo.

The hotel has old-time charm, and though the standard room is quite small (compared to the huge bed, which occupied most of the room), it was functional with a beautiful bathroom. The location of Hotel Savoy in the city centre is excellent and unless you want to explore Oslo on foot, you can easily do it by tram or bus. The best part of the stay was the delicious high-quality breakfast and ”light” dinner, which turned out to be a 3-course meal (warm main, soup and various salads). I don’t eat meat so I just asked the staff member in passing if there was any vegetarian warm-dish option and the next night they had prepared delicious chickpea curry as an extra dish for me. That’s what I call real customer service!😀 Also, the afternoon final (coffee and cake) was a plus in this expensive city. The only (tiny) minuses were a very small selection of TV channels and (in my personal opinion) uncomfy pillows (one gigantic, the other flat and lumpy). But after strolling around Oslo for many hours and enjoying the evening meal, those issues didn’t prevent us from sleeping well in our quiet room facing the inner yard.

It’s very near to the Royal Palace, museums, the street food market, the piers ans a 10 minute walk from the Central Station. If you like to walk, you can walk for 40 minutes to Frogner Park. You may never have to use the transit system. My room was comfortable with its own bathroom (it’s not a given in Scandinavia). It had a window on the street. So it was noisy during the day but quiet late night. When I checked in, they couldn’t find my name. But this happens to me often when I don’t book directly with the hotel. The reception staff was very friendly, especially the morning (blond) lady and the afternoon summer intern. I did not like the breakfast they served. Might think of having it elsewhere. All in all, it’s a good place. If I go back to Oslo, this will definitely be my pick.

The location was perfect for us. We walked everywhere, except for Vigeland Sculpture Park. We took a tram but the stop was really close to the hotel. The breakfast buffet was incredible! It was full of delicious foods that lasted me until dinner. The restaurant attached to the hotel was fantastic. See separate reviews for Kaffistova. I would highly recommend this hotel if you wanna be in heart of it all but without the noise.

The only hotel even mores strategically located would be The Grand. It also sits right on the tram line - talk about convenience in getting around Oslo - just make sure you get the public transport pass that allows you to take bus, tram or metro at no extra cost! The reception staff are all very warm, engaging and accommodating - and we dealt with at least three of them. The breakfast team (Paleo) was less warm by comparison but still helpful when asked. In the two days we were there, the hotel was very busy so Paleo was extremely tight. But the reception boasted that they had the best hotel breakfast in the city - and having tried it twice, I was inclined to believe their boast. They had the orange-squeezing machine that delivered fresh juice, they had both grilled and fresh veggies, their butter was home-made in a large tub that you scooped out of, not those in small plastic containers, they had a bread toaster, the cereal corner had a great spread, and they did the bacon and sausage very well. The rooms are larger than average, with even a small alcove for a sofa set, chair and coffee table, which I found impressive. The bedside tables were of leather though I did find their surface a bit too small. The bathroom was unusually large, with a novel hair-body wash dispenser in the shower. Though I found it odd that there was only one small hook in the entire bathroom. My wife found the toilet seat quite high - probably great for the average Dutch guy but my wife was only 5 feet tall. We also appreciated the coffee maker which seems to becoming a standard for high-class hotels. About the rooms, guests will notice that the room numbers are painted on the door two-foot high! This was the first time we had seen something like this and we took pictures - like jail cells - ha ha ha!

The hotel bar had unfortunately closed early due to unknown reasons according to hotel staff, which was kind of a let-down as it would have been nice to be able to enjoy a beer or a glass of wine in the nice patio outside the bar. The lighting in the room was either extremely bright or pitch dark as lights couldn't be dimmed or separately turned on/off. Maybe I was just unlucky with my room, but it was really hard to find (the hotel is a maze!) and there was a horrible noise every 10 minutes from pipes/the ventilation system or some such, which sounded like someone banging loudly on metal pipes with a wrench. Use earplugs to sleep!

I stayed for five nights in September for a work trip with a some time to explore Oslo while I was there. The location is perfect, the rooms are clean tastefully decorated and well equipped but what stands out is the staff. Everyone was extremely helpful but particular thanks is given to Wilhem and to Hakon. Having stayed at similar concept hotels with apps and no reception it was a pleasant surprise to see how engaged the staff were. My only regret is that I didn't get to check out all the in-house restaurant options or the rooftop Yoga class. It was an added bonus to have laundry facilities and a really cool lobby and workspace to spend the mornings with great coffee. I hope to return one day with my family to this wonderful gem of a place.

The location can't be better, very centric, near the Karl Johan Gate and walking distance from the museums, the opera house, etc. The rooms are small but still feel very comfortable and the bathroom was pretty big considered the size of the room. The staff was always super nice and the breakfast was one of the best I've had during my trip to the nordic countries. You have everything you need to start your day, different breads, pancakes, charcuterie, smoked salmon, pickles, herring, cheeses, they even have vegan cheese, cereals, milk, yogurt, eggs, bacon, etc. For every taste and for every dietary restrictions also. Great hotel for a stay in Oslo.

This was a slightly disconcerting start but from then on everything was significantly better than expectation. The room was very comfortable, the location very convenient and the breakfast choice so broad as to be nearly overwhelming. Staff throughout were friendly (without being intrusive) and very efficient. My only slight quible was that the rooms facing onto the atrium did not have an outside view so was a little difficult to guage the weather! I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this place to stay.

The only thing I can suggest hostel improvement is to ask guests what they plan on doing at the hostel as, I stayed in a 12 bed mixed dorm and only met 2 people my age who wanted to meet and become friends and hang out etc.
The rest were boring 50+ and even one 72 year old who was living there and was a let down as they kept complaining that we were talking after 11pm.
If the young ones and old ones, or the quiet ones and the meet friends and go out ones are seperated, this hostel could be 5**

Location: Very good, in the city center, just over ten minutes walk to Oslo opera, and just over ten minutes away from the Nobel Peace awards venue
Room: Not big, but having such a big room in a downtown area is pretty good
Breakfast: Super great, a variety of snacks and fruits, and the waiters are also very nice
Next time I go back to Oslo, Hotel Bristol will be my first choice.

But be careful with the taxis at the door, as they will charge you arbitrary fees. I encountered a scam by a taxi driver. Try to use Uber to take taxis in Norway. If there is any problem, it is easier to contact the platform.

This is a modern hotel (or very thoroughly renovated). Entrance was very busy or maybe because I was there at around 2 pm. Very nice looking lobby with lots of seating spaces and good vibes. An Andy Warhol is a. Ice touch. Check in was smooth but room was not ready so I kept my bags in their bag room. It was ready when I came back at around 240. Elevator is a combination of using your card and entering your floor on a touch screen so don’t just hop in with someone else. Room was really modern, hip and user friendly. Smart tv, lots of storage spaces and big bathroom. The view was of the inner courtyard so not much. Bed was very comfortable and really overall liked the room a lot. Depending on your room number it could be a bit of a walk from the elevator so keep that in mind. I tried out the basement level which had sauna, pool, gym. Gym looked good but didn’t use and the sauna was very nice. The pool is round, very small and about the only negative of the hotel. Forget laps, you can sort of float around but even that becomes a problem if 2 or 3 people are in there. I wanted to see the views from the top so went to their restaurant and must say had a wonderful time. I wrote a separate review on Norda but suffice to say it was well worth the visit just for the views alone and the food was very good as well. Finally the breakfast was something else. Honestly I doubt if anyone can try out all the dishes as there are so many. Quality stuff I must add, different types of salmon, avocado halves(!) and what not. Really something to behold. Overall though definitely not cheap, I really liked the modern aesthetic, the prime location and excellent room facilities and the breakfast and Norda were just icing on the cake.

|0.48km from Jaipur Indian RestaurantWe spent three nights at this hotel and while it wasn't terrible we would not choose to go back. The rooms are small and have minimal furnishings. There is nowhere to unpack and little place for relaxing or working. We did appreciate having a view of the Opera House but the extra money we paid for a balcony was wasted as the balcony had no furniture. The breakfast was fine; we did not have a problem finding a seat though others we saw did. The only 'extra' in the lobby is water; other snacks and drinks must be purchased. The staff was uneven. On our arrival day the people at the front desk were quite rude, later staff were pleasant. One note - though Oslo is a very safe city, the area around this hotel attracts what homeless population we saw in the city (there seems to be a drop in clinic there). While we never felt threatened, we did have to change our route near the hotel to avoid unwanted attention. Some travelers might prefer not to have to deal with this. We saw many other hotels in the area and think they would be a better option.
