The staff were friendly, the shared spaces were fantastic - a fully-stocked kitchen, plenty of lounge space inside and outside, with a few game tables. They had lockers to leave bags pre-check in / post-check out, which is super handy. My deep dive room was very comfy for one person - I don't think you'd comfortably fit two suitcases in the space though. The mattress was okay. The main issues is the cleanliness - the toilets were filthy for almost my entire stay. One bathroom didn't have toilet paper for almost 24hrs, there was pee everywhere all over toilets and the floor, there was water and hair everywhere in the showers. I was truly bewildered because the hostel wasn't rowdy over the weekend so I don't know how they got to be in that state. Also one night, the shared kitchen was full of dirty dishes and food in the sink and on the benches. These are usually complaints directed at the people staying there, not the hostel itself, but I think more truly has to be done to have rules in places and added cleaning.

The hotel was in a perfect location in Ljubljana, wedged in between the town centre and bus and train stations. The hotel also had a beautiful terrace area with surround views of the mountains and city. My only inconvenience I experienced was that the WiFi was down for the first two days which wasn’t a big issue for me but was for the handful of people that were there to work also.

The beams were beautiful but the room was tiny, there was very little space to stand in (I am 1.77). The quality of the mattress (of the single bed - which I tried) pillows and bedding was poor. For the entire time I spend there (Tue - Wed) the common toilet smelled horribly and the floor was sticky - not properly cleaned- to the point I avoided using it as much as possible. I stayed there at the end of September, I do not know how they handle it in peak season. I booked the accommodation directly from their website for 55 EUR for a night, but as I have seen the same rooms in platforms selling for 70-90 EUR per night, I had higher expectations. Due to its proximity to the center and the comparison of the cost for other accommodation, for one or max two nights its OK, but definitely not more.

|1.02km from city centerWe stayed 3 nights in Asteria hotel and loved it. Location is very good, 10 minutes from train and busstation and 15 minutes from the old city. Supermarket is near the hotel. We, a couple, had a big room for 3 persons. The bathroom divided the room in 2 sleeping parts, and we had a small kitchenette and a nice terrace. The kitchenette is not really for cooking, but there is a fridge, 2 hobs and some stuff as glasses, cups..., good for a drink or making a tea. Everything was clean. Airco worked good. Wifi was good too. Breakfast is very good, with eggs as you wish, yoghurt, fruits, , cheese, ham... It consists of a small buffet and a service at the table. It is lovely to eat outside in the patio. The people working there are very, very kindly and helpfull. Next to the hotel is the restaurant ”Das ist Walter” with typical plates and good beer. So very easy if you do not like to go far in the evening. I can just recommend hotel Asteria.

1. Everything inside is new and looks nice, but it feels like the cheapest materials were used)
2. There was a crackling sound in the ventilation system from time to time. The technician came twice but found no problems. However, it really spoiled my sleep.
3. The gym has very poor equipment and bad ventilation. You have to breathe the smell of rubber from the flooring.
4. Pakring price - 30 EUR per day
In general, the hotel leaves a good impression.

In the price of the room is an over the top breakfast (in USA standards at least). We couldn’t believe we got a sit down breakfast with a waiter with the price of the room. It was quite the treat. On top of the amenities, we were in a bit of a sticky situation and the front desk staff helped us through it all. They were so kind and friendly and we felt completely taken care of. However, there were some problems which we had not expected in an inner city hotel. We went out for a meal both nights of our stay and when we got back around 9.45 we fancied a drink only to find the bar closed at 10.00pm. On the first night we did have time for a glass of wine but on the second we were told the bar was closed. This was disappointing as we had already been out and did not want to go out again. We had one full day in Ljubljana and the weather was glorious. When we went back to the hotel after being out all day we wanted to go into the Terrace Bar and sit outside with a drink and to read a book. When we approached the entrance to the bar there was a barrier across it. We asked the reception staff if we could go up but were told it was closed for a photo shoot. This is not what we expected on a hot afternoon. The information from the hotel also said there was a restaurant but when we asked were told it was only for group bookings. These little touches make a difference and consequently we would not stop at this hotel again.

|1.03km from city centerWhist I understand the hotel had recently had a refurb my room (515) was very dated. The bathroom tiles, wood in the bedroom, internal doors and curtains were poor. Worst was the shower cubicle which was a tiny square old-fashioned cubicle with a corner door and a large step to get into. The tray showed signs of age with cracks/marks in the surface. The drainage from the shower was very poor so you stood in water for all of your shower. It rained heavily when we were there and the shower drain made really loud noises of gurgling water during heavy rain which woke me up at night. The door to the bathroom opened inwards making it hard to get in and out of and the door to the room opened out into the corridor which seemed strange. On the positive side the water pressure and bed linens were excellent. The breakfast was also excellent.

Our room wasn't made up and the tea/coffee station was not replenished before we took the room on. Reception told us that due to a bit of a panic by the cleaning company over covid, rooms were only serviced at the specific request of the guest! We were not told this and anyway, are covid restrictions not a thing of the past? The silicone around the bath showed signs of mould as did the grout in the tiles in the shower. The toilet bowl looked like it had not been cleaned. There was no soap in the dispensers. Staff eventually left bars of hand soap and tiny bottles of shower gel. The tap dripped, as did the bidet. The plug in the sink doesn't stay in place had we wanted to fill the sink. The shower head in the main shower was pretty useless. Blinds on the window were broken or didn't work properly. There was 3 hangers in the wardrobe. There was a huge TV on a sideboard - the screen had a distracting crackly fault line right across the screen. Having said all of this, the staff at reception were very nice and very helpful.

Prior to our arrival, we contacted the hotel to let them know that we would be arriving after check-in had closed (at 10pm). They were very helpful and provided us with instructions to enter the property by ourselves using an app.
When we arrived, we managed to get into the lobby (using the app), but the room key we were given was different than the one we were told on the phone and email. As a result, we were unable to enter our assigned room.
Assuming that our room number had been changed, we tried the key in the door that matched the new number (as there were no staff or guests around, and no one was answering the phone or emails). It opened and revealed a couple, asleep, inside. Obviously, we were mortified that we had disturbed the hotel guests, and also terrified that we would have to sleep in the hotel lobby until check-in opened at 6am.
After about an hour of searching around the lobby for clues about who to contact, we knocked on some private doors. Thankfully, a man came out and used a master key to let us in. It was clear that we had woken him up (by this point it was 2am). Again, we were sorry to have done so, but were left with no choice.
After we had successfully entered our room, I sent an email to the front desk letting them know what had just happened and that we would like them to apologise (on our behalf) to the guests and staff we woke up. They never replied. In fact, every time we mentioned it, the staff member made excuses like “I wasn’t there so I don’t have anything to do with it” and “the guy who organised the late check-in was training so he made a mistake”. There was absolutely nothing in the way of an apology or compensation for the mix-up until we checked out and it was already too late. We would like the hotel to know that mistakes are bound to happen, so it is imperative that they have a back-up (emergency number or night staff) for guests who have been given the wrong room key.
In addition, since we had been travelling for a while, we were running out of clothes and needed to do a load of laundry. We followed the instructions for the housekeeping staff to collect our laundry but found that when we had returned to the hotel, the laundry had not been done and the room had not been made up. When we went downstairs to inform the staff of this, we were told “housekeeping doesn’t go back to rooms to clean them after you took off the do not disturb sign, I’ve worked in lots of hotels and this is always the policy”. This member of staff eventually helped us find an laundromat, but the contempt with which we were spoken to was unacceptable and uncaring of the fact that we, too, have plenty of experience in the hotel industry as customers. An apology would have sufficed.
Overall, it was a great hotel in a fantastic location. Just make sure you’re okay with passive aggressive communication before you book.

|0.67km from city centerThe hotel is pretty nice, though I’m not sure I’d choose the interior design colors. Room was clean when I first got it. Bathroom door wasn’t closing properly. Lots of TV channels to choose from. The walls are thin- you hear a lot of corridor noise. In general I had good time in spite of a very unpleasant incident with the receptionists (they apologized later). I wouldn’t pay extra for a castle view room as I did this time. It’s really not too impressive as you can see yourselves in the picture. Breakfast was good. Reasonable variety and fresh. Location is good. They started a pilot where they only clean your room upon request. I love the plan but! When I did ask to clean it, my mouth washing glass wasn’t changed and the room wasn’t as clean as when I first got it. I’m quite specific person and my standards are high but I do recommend this hotel in spite of the deficiencies. It’s not much to improve and I hope it will. If you’re sensitive to noise, it might not be suitable for you.

The rest seems pretty ok, the location and the amenities are just fine. There are so many rooms in this hotel, l would say not everything is perfect. The more you pay, the better you get.

We were leaving on a tour early and couldn’t make breakfast so the staff arranged for us the pick some sandwiches, fruit and a drink the night before. We arrived on a Sunday when no shops were open and needed washing powder. Some was dropped up in minutes despite reception being closed. The restaurant below was good value and delicious. Apartment was big and quiet. Location to the castle and Old Town was a stones throw away.

|0.14km from city centerThe hostel is located in a centrical place, the only thing is that the street to get there at night was a bit isolated and i had to enter a huge garden/park to get there, which by myself at night did not seem the greatest of ideas, but ended up being fine and I´m sure the area is fine. It used to be university halls and it´s clean and new - it has been refurbished. I liked the tiles in the gardens in the bathrooms, and the comfortable room with a desk and comfy beds. Some people were yelling downstairs (I was on the first floor) and due to the indoors structure building I could hear them from uptairs, but gladly they were not like this all evening and I could get a good nights´sleep. I also want to emphasise the kindness of the receptionists, both of them, and the fact that they are there 24 hours is reassuring. I had an incident or two, and the one who was there solved it very nicely. Only thing is, since i asked for a private, it would have been nice to have been by myself in a double room, not a 6-bed room, but just commenting. There is a nice cafeteria for breakfast pretty nearby which she recommended, and it is about 20 mins to the train/bus station, so in that sense it was convenient.

|1.29km from city centerI loved Galeria Rooms! Close to everything, with charm and a ”homey” feel, just like they stated. Clara was very helpful and friendly, and suggested some fantastic restaurants. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable. As advertised, there isn't a person at the front desk at all times, so if you need support 24/7, this might not be the place for you. I was totally fine with that, however. Staff was readily available by text or phone, and they were pleasant and unobtrusive. I definitely recommend Galeria Rooms if you're visiting Ljubljana!

|0.62km from city centerHad a nice stay at this hotel but the hotel has some issues. Biggest one of them being parking and carrying luggage to the hotel as there is no way you can park closer to the hotel. On top of it, its a cobbled street. Say goodbye to you bag wheelies…
Secondly, being a 4star property, i would atleast expect a 24hr reception desk. Had a call from trip.com office regarding my eta to the hotel as they would close the reception desk after 10pm and we wouldnt be able to check-in if there is no staff. Thankfully staff stayed late as our flight was super delayed (Perfect easyjet moment) and checked us in before we could head out and get dinner which was past 10:45pm and almost none of the restaurants were serving dinner. So much for the first magical evening in Ljubljana!!!!
Thirdly, there is no lift being an old building which is self explanatory, but travellers with heavy luggage should be warned in advance.
Fourthly, as for the breakfast we expected a proper coffee from a 4star property, but instead there is only a small coffee machine which dispenses coffee on button press. Guys the coffee isnt nice. I would rather head downstairs to the main street with plenty of cafes around. Breakfast itself is just standard, nothing whao. For hot breakfast there is only one option - eggs (served 4 ways) wasnt great, wasnt bad!
Now for the good part, hotel is nicely decorated, clean, rooms are spacious, coffee machine and kettle inside the room. Clean towels, Comfy beds! A complimentary bubbly waiting for you in the fridge, somehow they knew you are exhausted from carrying your bags from the end of the street to the hotel and upstairs!!! 😫

|0.57km from city centerThe location is just perfect for the whole city! In case you come by car, make sure you book the parking place, which is comfortably located right next to the hostel. The accommosation itself is what you would expect - pure basics, one locker (actually locking it is optional), but clean and in good shape. The only downside is that you can really hear everything from the outside and the automatic lights in the street oten illuminate the whole room. So, depends on how deep your sleep is.

The power outlets were old. The price is excellent, just a little attention would be enough to make it a recommended place. Another problem is parking, consider between € 8 and € 15 a day for a nearby car park. Otherwise there are car parks outside the city that are a bit cheaper and include a bus service.
