Stayed 1 night here with the family on a road trip. Check in was fairly quick at 9p, front desk attendant was friendly. Hotel is right on 287, but Childress is a small town; we had no issues with PM road noise. We stayed in room 112. Room was a bit dated, but very clean. Saw no issues with cleanliness in bathroom, carpets, linens, etc. Beds were firm and comfortable. Only real negative thing noticed about the room are the walls seem to be a tad thin; could hear more from the other rooms than I would like. However, at a price of about $80 for the night, it was definitely not enough of a negative to deter me from staying again. AM breakfast is well stocked, breakfast area is clean -- no issues. Will plan to stay here again on next trips to CO from Dallas, and would recommend to friends/family who may need a room in the area in the future.

The reviews seemed to be so outstanding that I thought I had truly scored a tremendous deal at 45 bucks. My rating scale might be different from some. Here is how a place gets a star: Clean gets one. Nice, hot shower with good pressure gets one. Comfortable bed gets one. Workable AC which lowers the temp to 65 gets one. Luxurious feel gets one. Based on that, this place would get two stars. One for a comfortable bed and one for a hot shower with good pressure. However, I gave it 3 because it was so cheap and what can you truly expect for that money? It felt really dirty to me. I was going to put some ice bags in the freezer in the small refrigerator in the room, but the refrigerator was inoperative. In the process, I got a small amount of water on the shelf above the non-working refrigerator. I found a cloth in the bathroom to wipe it up and the cloth was very brown after wiping up the water. I thought I would see if the refrigerator was unplugged or something so I got down on my knees to follow the connection to a power strip. It was plugged in, but it was obvious no one had cleaned this "out of sight" are for quite some time. I don't like dirty, regardless of how old or how new a facility is. The lady who checked me in was quite friendly, but there was an older gentleman who was kind of "watching" the front for her who had the personality of that damp cloth I had to use. Overall, I would not return, unless I only had 45 dollars in my wallet for a roof. I like cheap, but not at the expense of cleanliness. Looking at some of the other reviews, perhaps I got a really bad room, but since I only saw one other vehicle in the parking lot besides mine, they would likely have not picked the dirtiest one to give me. Also, a pet peeve is the AC was really old and could not be set less than 72.

Staff was very friendly and the hotel was clean and comfortable enough. There are grassy areas around the perimeter of the hotel for dogs to relieve themselves, but be advised there are lots of fire ant mounds throughout those areas and I had to look closely to keep my pup away from those, especially in the darkness. My pup also sniffed out several pieces of discarded food items in the lawn area within a few feet of the building itself but fortunately I managed to coax him to drop it before he ingested anything. We asked for a quiet room at the end of a hallway away from other dogs if possible because our 3-year-old mini Aussie is very protective of us and barks sometimes when he senses people or other dogs nearby. We were given a room next to a door labeled 'staff only' and over the course of the night there was frequent foot traffic back and forth into that room while staff did their nightly cleaning and laundry. Every time someone walked by and went in/out that door we would hear the door open/close and our pup would get concerned and bark. It was literally the worst night's rest we had on the entire trip.

Our room was spacious and immaculately clean. Reception was smooth and the staff (all family as far as I could tell) were extremely pleasant. We walked along to the Sonic diner up the road and one of our fellow guests had a good meal at the Thai takeaway next door to the motel. There are quite a few motels to choose from in Childress but I cannot believe that there are any better than this one.

Really nice place with great, friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay here for the weekend. Definitely coming back for another stay. They had enough variety for breakfast at check out that everyone was able to find something they could eat. This saved me a few bucks and another stop before hitting the road. Win, win for this dad!

Needed an overnight stop and after reading the reviews thought this would be a good place to try. First off, the owners were extremely friendly and welcoming. Lobby was bright and clean. Going by a previous review, we asked for a room in the back facing the open field as we had a dog. They had absolutely no problem accommodating our request. This is definitely an older property. However, our room was clean, nicely furnished and suited our needs perfectly. It look like there had been some redecorating. I have two small critiques. They provided a desk chair. However, it was a bit too large for the space. We just pushed it in a corner. The second thing is, from my perspective, pillows were kind a hard and too fat. Not a biggie but there it is. The area to walk your dog is really nice. It is on the back of the property. There’s a long open stretch underneath pine trees. The Pineneedles keep the weeds from growing and provided a soft surface to walk on. I would recommend one of those dog waste disposal containers. Yes, you do have to make sure there’s always bags, but it is a nice thing to have. But we travel with bags. We had a light breakfast before leaving the next morning. The breakfast room was bright and clean. There was the customary regular and decaf coffee. A couple of different juices. Dry cereal with milk. waffle maker. Biscuits, sausage, gravy, small critique... turn up the heat underneath those buffet servers. Enjoyed our stop over and would definitely stay again and definitely recommend especially if you are traveling with dogs

Typical Hampton quality, great value. With one exception - no insulation between rooms. My upstairs neighbor seemed to pace back and forth all night. I could hear every footstep so loudly that even my microwave rattled rather violently every time they passed by. At one point I thought my phone was ringing/vibrating, but after further inspection I realized it was the guy in the room next to me.. snoring!! Every time he moved (the only time the snoring would stop), extremely loud creaks and pops came from the wall, even for several minutes after he’d stopped moving. On the bright side, the loud truck stop/AC unit does help drown out your neighbors if you’re like me and appreciate white noise. My suggestion: request a room on the top level, away from other guests if possible. Staff was extremely friendly and room was nice and clean when I arrived. Check in was a breeze and plenty of parking. Wonderful location. Will stay again - but bringing earplugs!

We were passing through Childress on the way home and booked this hotel thinking it was the one we stayed in 10 days previously. We booked online, agreeing that it couldn't be cancelled. That was a mistake. We got there around 7 p.m. and were given a room on the 2nd floor. As we headed to the stairs, I saw what at first I thought was a roach but then I realized it was a big beetle. We put our things upstairs and went to dinner. When we came back there were at least 20 beetles crawling all over the stairway. I went to the front desk and told the person working and she said, "yes it's that time of year. They're horrible and I sweep them away and they just come back." I asked for extra towels to put under our door so they couldn't crawl in the wide space there. It was hard to see them all on the carpet because it's black and brown and the beetles are black, but you could sure hear the crunch if you stepped on one. I expect the place I'm staying to be bug free, as the other hotel we stayed in down the road had been. After going back upstairs, we found it hard to connect to their internet and once connected, it barely worked. Again, I'm paying to have internet access. When we checked out, we found we'd also been charged another $1.50 for a safe we didn't need and never used. I would never stay at this Quality Inn again. We've had excellent luck at the others but I would recommend staying away from this one unless you like paying for no internet and crunching across the carpet on beetles. The only reason I didn't give it one star is the bed was comfortable and breakfast was ok, although I worried about them preparing food with all those beetles around.
