Absolutely loved staying at this hotel! Efficient, polite and helpful staff. Nice lobby area. Simply-furnished but clean and comfortable rooms that reflected the theme of pilgrimage in this town. I love the fact that they have a crucifix in every room! Everything worked well in the room and the beds were very comfortable! We had a room with a stunning view of the grounds and the sanctuary. The hotel is situated in a quiet area, far from the noisy pilgrims who, unfortunately, very frequently forget that this is a pilgrimage town! There was ample free public parking on the road outside the hotel and a hotel-owned private parking area just across the road. Walking through the hotel’s grounds and the picnic area of the sanctuary will lead you to the back part of the Basilica of the Rosary. It’s a short, pleasant walk - around 5 minutes. There are coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The buffet breakfast was standard continental fare. Nothing fanciful but plentiful. No hot dishes. Fresh fruits like apples, oranges and bananas were available. It was self-service which, to me, wasn’t ideal during this pandemic. The staff should be the ones serving the food to avoid many different hands handling the serving tongs/ladles. In addition, every time clients want more food, the food should be served on a clean, new plate. This is just to avoid the serving tongs/ladles from coming into contact with soiled plates and then being returned to the clean food dish. It prevents food contamination. A few other hotels in Fátima actually practise this at their buffets which is really a very hygienic practice! The restaurant area was large and tables well spaced-out. The hotel also provides half board and full board. Apart from breakfast, we didn’t have any other meal there so cannot comment on the quality of the food. We did, however, notice many Portuguese come for meals at the restaurant. Lunch or dinner costs €11/person. The best part of this hotel was the on-site beautiful chapel with the presence of the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament! Masses are said here every morning (7.45 a.m. on weekdays). It was such a bonus for us - to be able to start the day with Mass! Beautiful! The Masses are said in Portuguese and the ambience is so serene and spiritual with the community (priests, nuns and lay religious) present there that you feel at peace and one with God. In sum, this hotel is a good candidate for those wanting to conduct their own private retreat. It has a quiet, spiritual ambience and is very good value for money as breakfast is included in the room rate. I highly recommend this hotel, especially if you are looking for a peaceful stay. Excellent quality/price ratio!

We spent 2 nights at Sao Jose in a double room. The staff provided excellent service. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable with its en-suite bathroom. Breakfast offered plenty of (very good) choices. The location - very close to the sanctuary - is perfect. We could easily find a spot to park our car close to the hotel. All in all, this was a great stay! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Stayed at this hotel as part of a tour. Would highly recommend it. We found the hotel well located with easy access to everything (although it’s a very small town). Everything is clean & modern and service was great. Breakfast area doesn’t start until 7:30am so if you need to leave early like we did may need to consider alternatives. Food was fine, but nothing special. WiFi was fast enough. Lots of people stay here as part of their religious pilgrimage so can only imagine how busy it gets at certain times.

Chose the hotel due to its perfect location but was pleasantly surprised at the super modern facilities, the kindness of the the all the staff. Comfortable bedding, the room décor was modern chic, and very clean. My room faced the square and as a perk, I could hear the bells of the sanctuary and also the mass if I opened the window, such a peaceful view in the morning. I had a buffet at the restaurant (for 18 or19 euro), it not so many dishes but all were delicious, especially the dessert. I was glad that I had dinner there. Their breakfast also has a good selection. The hotel also has a souvenir store right in front, very convenient to get to the evening candle processions and gifts from Fatima. High speed wifi. Overall I'm happy with my stay and I would book this hotel again for my next trip.

**I am giving this hotel a 3 stars for the room alone. Every thing else was above average.** We stayed at this property from 03/20 – 03/23. I had reserved a suite. When I see a suite, I think of a very nice room with a good view. Not in this hotel. We were assigned room #101. This was a suite with a separate sitting room, but the view was of a wall. Not overlooking the sanctuary but a wall of the building next door. Not like the photos on the website. So, if you are looking for a room with a view, do not get room 101. Other than that, the stay was good. The room was clean, and the heating worked well. The price of the room was €93/night. All staff encountered were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant had an excellent staff (especially Ines) and the provided breakfast was very good. Breakfast was €15/person with a very large selection of items. It is one of the hotels located along this street that is directly across the street from the Sanctuary. There is a small onsite parking area with about room for 6 cars. Overall, if I had to do it again, I would not get a room but a city view room. I am giving this hotel a 3 stars for the room alone. Every thing else was above average.

This is a fabulous hotel, in every respect. Attentive, well trained staff, spacious rooms with huge bed, very comfortable. Small balcony to watch the many birds and their antics. Kettle, teapot, cup and saucer delivered on request. Breakfast room service was unbelievable. Really good. Staff very attentive. This hotel has a great management team, well organized, every detail. Good heating. Reading sofas upstairs. You won't be disappointed here. It's exceptional.

This 4**** is not up to par. When we arrived around 7:30 p.m., the parking lot was invaded by cars from outside the hotel because the barrier was blocked open. No place to park. A room with 2 beds is allocated to us instead of one with a double bed yet reserved. No possibility of changing rooms or even of transforming these 2 small beds into a large bed before the next day. In the 4****, there is normally a housekeeper service in the evening. The cabinet is not equipped with shelves, just a hanging space. No bottle of welcome water or coffee in the courtesy tray. Just a kettle and tea. The breakfast is very simple, the scrambled eggs are dry, the pastries too. The hot drinks machine gives coffees and chocolates made with powder. No iron and the reception is clueless when we ask for room service at 9.15pm, replying that the kitchen closes soon when the room service menu says until 11pm! The service is still delivered to us. Although simply decorated, the room is a good size and rather quiet, but what 4**** is still equipped with shower curtains in a bathtub?! The minibar is empty. All for more than 120€/night all the same. Positive point, the staff is smiling and helpful

I stayed here recently and had a good stay the hotel is in a good location and close to everything, it’s around 10 min walk from the bus station also, the rooms and hotel was very clean, the breakfast was fine but the selection has been reduced from the last time we stayed here I feel they need to offer possibly fresh tomato’s, soft cheese, more fruit options! This aircon in the rooms worked well and cooled the room down quickly. The restaurant had a set menu for 4 courses for €15 euro which we had and it was great value for money, the food was nice and we enjoyed it, the only other downside was the menu selection wasn’t that big, no chicken or prawns on the menu I think by offering this it would really improve the menu selection. I definitely would stay here again as it’s great value for money and the hotel staff is very friendly.

This is a mixed review. We have returned from a week's stay. When we arrived at hotel all seemed OK until the 'group' got their rooms. The rooms were appalling. They do not reflect what is on the website, apparantly these rooms are for paying individuals but the groups get the 'classic' rooms. When I went to complain, many others were there too. The bathroom was totally inadequate and the shower was so old it soaked the entire bathroom. After a while the manager told me that there was one modern room left and I have to say this room was gorgeous! We thought it was perfect until we came home one day to find a leak at the aircon. Reception already knew about this when I reported it (although I was unaware continuing to use aircon). I had to be sharp to get a maintenance man to the room. When he did appear the water gushed out of the unit and ceiling. Thankfully he was able to stop the drip (towel stuffed up aircon-probbaly catching the drip). To, be fair we were offered a new room but I didn't want to leave. Rooms were spotlessly clean but this service was hit and miss - some days it was clean after breakfast and other days still not cleaned/fresh towels at 7pm. Waiting staff fantastic but most of the dinners were very poor. One evening the chicken curry can only be described as a dogs dinner. If you get chicken for lunch you will get the remainder bones and guts included for dinner 🤢 Groups are treated like 2nd class citizens in this hotel and I would reccomend anyone planning pilgrimages not to use it. The groups got different breakfasts while 'paying' guests got better food. The waiting staff would actually tell you ' you can't have that, that's for the other guests' All good is buffet style and it is replenished but very repetitive and I would say Only enjoyed 2meals the entire week. The free wine and tea/coffee is a nice touch. Elsa and carrina the 2 JWT tour guides were amazing.. Nothing was too much trouble and believe me we had alot of issues at times. They were the best tour guides I have ever had and I have been on 30+ pilgrimages. Steyler hotel need to stop false advertising their hotel.. Rooms with balconies are not even available yet advertised. Pool is not opened. This is not a 4 star hotel. One part of it may be but the other part looks like a hostel.

The breakfast has a great variaty and the staff were genuinely friendly! The location is very central to walk around with my kids and had no problem parking my car. The valeu for money is very good and I will not bother looking for another place next time I go back to Fátima.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel a couple of weeks ago. The junior suite we stayed in was so spacious and comfortable! Everything worked well in the room. There was a minibar fridge that we could use (not stocked with minibar items at the moment as part of the ongoing hygiene measures), a kettle and sachets of tea. I would, however, advise the hotel management to apply the same hygiene principles to the drink sachets as they did with the minibar items. Remove them and only give these to the guests upon request. Our tea sachets looked crumpled and well-handled so we didn’t touch them. Depending on the number of guests, breakfast was either a buffet or a pre-ordered meal. We had the opportunity to experience both! Buffet breakfast was great with a lot of variety. There were scrambled eggs, crispy bacon slices, a variety of cheeses and ham, cereals, nuts, yoghurt, hot drinks, vegan packet drinks, different homemade jams, a variety of delicious pastries, different types of fresh bread and freshly sliced fruits (honey dew, kiwi, papaya, orange, etc.). The buffet breakfast was served by the staff. No self-service and no re-using of already used plates for hygiene reasons. Every time we wanted a second serve, the staff would serve the food on a clean plate. This was really such a good move to avoid the serving tongs/ladles coming into contact with used plates and increasing the risk of food cross-contamination!! The pre-ordered breakfast was also very good as it had the same items for guests to order (from a menu list) for breakfast the following day. Location wise, the hotel is around 7 minutes walk from the Sanctuary. The Fátima bus station is a 3-minute walk away and fast food outlets Burger King and McDonald’s are nearby. There is also a Pingo Doce supermarket in the area. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful grounds and a lush, stunning garden that is well worth exploring! There are ample free parking spaces on the grounds. The hotel also has two on-site chapels with the presence of the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. The larger chapel is absolutely stunning!! Sunday Masses (9.00 a.m.) are said here. The other chapel is smaller and very pretty and is used for daily Masses. To be able to attend daily Mass (7.20 a.m. on weekdays) was the highlight for us! Masses were beautiful and spiritually uplifting. Last but not least, the staff! They were exemplary (receptionists, breakfast staff, etc.)! Very efficient, polite, warm and friendly and taking the hygiene measures seriously. My card was wiped with a disinfectant wipe before being handed back to me! I was also given a disinfected pen with which to sign a form! Very nicely done! A beautiful hotel with beautiful chapels, beautiful grounds and beautiful people! Very peaceful and with a good ambience. It is especially good for personal self-retreats. Would stay here again without any hesitation. Highly recommended! We went to spend the weekend with a group of friends. We all stayed in this hotel. At the time of the reservation (by phone) we asked for a berce for our room because we had a 6-month baby. When we arrived in the room, we had no berce. I went to the reception, and I was aware of what happened, and they told me that we had said we didn't want a berce; they made a confusion, I deduce, with another couple friend who initially wanted a berce, but then they didn't want; OK, until there all right, confusion happens. They took the berth later, after paying us €7.5. There is no room for the berth, and we weren't able to put our things down and almost didn't pass around the bed. The most intrigued thing was that the berth had no bed. I had basically a table with the lingerie. I can't understand how they have such conditions for a baby to sleep!! It was exactly the same thing to sleep there or on the floor. I find it regrettable today that there are so many options for cheap beds and beds, that a hotel is going to dislocate in this way. But the available recordings did not work, if we were not warned by power bank, we would not have loaded our electronics.

Perfect place for both pilgrims who want a quiet space to contemplate their visit to the shrine and travelers in the general area looking for a unique and lovely place to stay.

It was finally an option to rest one night before going on. It is a pity that some of the staff believed they had reason about the clients and that it was the customer's fault that the room had no coat or edredom available in the room and had to go to the reception. In January it is normal to get cold and the rooms have conditions and especially sticks /edredom available, isn't it?

It is a very friendly, familiar and well located hotel, even next to the sanctuary. I think that it is a good option for anyone who wants to spend a few days in a family with quietness, has a parking park, but it is not very confident because it is small. If the hotel is full, it is likely that it will not be possible at certain hours, and it has a restaurant that is not a speciality, and it is finally reasonable in quality. However, whose gastronomic experience is richer, will find better options for restaurants.

There is 1 elevator that is accessible to guests, therefore, check-in was easy, but getting to the room with everyone arriving on tour took 20+ minutes. The shower stall [no bath] was short of a square meter, therefore, beware if you are a bit more round than tall. I woke up with a migraine and needed nourishment to keep it at bay. My wife and I sat down with a very meager plate in a dining room that had been near empty and the manager proceeded to kick us out, because the night before, without any warning, the telephone rang in our room and we were not consulted, just TOLD that our reservation was now @ 8 am. No manners, just an order. The manager was rude and angry when he found us, and made us feel as if we had crossed some imaginary line! Last I looked, hotels are there to serve their customers; had the manager been just straight forward or [god forbid] polite, I would have explained the situation - no chance of that. Nowhere have I ever felt more uncomfortable with the meager service and the unsolicited changes. There are many, many hotels in Fatima, as during holier days, they could be booked solid with no tents to rent, but this was not high season. I would imagine that many devout catholics would dream of such accommodations upon arrival, but we were just looking for a one-night visit. If ever you are in Fatima, beware of hyper-vigilant staff who seem to feel that they are doing us a huge favour by accepting our money and allowing us to eat. Wouldn't go back were they to send me the airfare and invite us back.

This hotel was absolutely fabulous. The location was perfect for all the Fatima religious experiences we wanted to attend. Staff was exceptionally helpful and professional. As Americans we were kind of in the dark - they helped us to navigate our stay wonderfully. Rooms were so comfortable and modern. Breakfast was wonderful as well. Prices were great! We couldn't have had a better stay and highly recommend this wonderful hotel!!!
