This place must be the feather in the Serena property’s cap. We’ve stayed at several on our vacation and all were wonderful but Lake Elementeita was simply perfect! Absolutely perfect! We were greeted with a champagne toast upon arrival and had the property amenities explained to us. As it was off season, there were only two other rooms booked besides our party of five. We were delighted that the staff still went all out, providing us opportunities such as a cooking class and tree planting activity both on site. I also must say I had one of the best massages of my life there. (Thanks, Dorkus!) Definitely book one! And a true visual highlight was a sunset happy hour high on a cliff overlooking the lake. It’s not to be missed! I literally lost myself in the moment up there. Visually the property is breathtaking. It stretches out along the coast of the lake so while you’re walking anywhere on the grounds, you can see down to the water and all the wildlife gathering there. We saw from our dining table zebras, monkeys (whom came into the dining room!), impala, waterbuck, flamingos, storks, etc... You can also see them from the comfort of you front porch. One unexpected sighting was a black mamba! The accommodations are so gorgeously appointed. We brought my niece for her graduation present and she absolutely fell in love with Lake Elementeita and wants to bring the rest of the family back. I don’t want to be remiss and forget to mention the food.... first, all meals are sit down menus of several courses. We tried to eat each course at first but then just had to pick and choose because it was just too much food! It was difficult because everything was divine! That said, the steaks were some of the best I’ve had anywhere. The service was impeccable. And as one of our party has Celiac Disease, the staff worked together to make sure he had something amazing and safe within his dietary restrictions. We loved every second spent here and hope to return.

So this place is a hidden gem. The turning is slightly unintuitive, but soon as you turn that gate, security guards are awesome, and so is the front desk. I met Kiptoo, who deserves a medal for his calmness and welcoming nature. Super professional in handling clients. The rooms are also nice and spacious clean too, with tea and coffee offerings in the room, and a safe. Food is top notch, and Mary at the restaurant and her team are also great, providing the best dining experience I have seen in a while. The views are spectacular, with some of the rooms offering a 180 degree view of the lake. Dotted with flamingos and some of the most picturesque sunsets and landscape reflections in the lake water... Been to a few places in the country, but this get very few things wrong.

We stayed for one night during an unplanned visit to Nakuru. Simon is a great host and helps you with anything you need, even on a short notice. He can help you with Safari's as he is also a guide! (He helped my friend and I with booking a train ticket through M-pesa). The rooms are cheap, (2000 for two, with breakfast, for a night.) clean and have mosquito nets. The bathroom was not in appealing condition but it was working fine. You got hot water which is great, but the showerhead (which is electric and controls the heat level) is a bit spooky on first sight, seeming a bit exposed and not-as-safe. That is the only real problem I've seen in my time there. Great for budget tourists/backpackers.

Stayed here for several days while visiting Kenya for a missions trip- extremely gracious, welcoming staff; Breakfast buffets were amazing! I really enjoyed trying the Kenyan foods- SO good! Bed was very comfortable, room very clean and a nice, hot shower at the day's end was very appreciated. Thank you!

This is probably the only hotel whose rooftop bar offers you an unrivalled view of Nakuru City. Foodies will really enjoy the fresh, thoughtfully prepared menu here. The Indian curry is a definite win for me. They have a live band on Sunday afternoons that plays a mix of African and world music. Did I mention the rooms here? Immaculate and spacious. The children can enjoy a dip in the pool or take a walk around the hotel grounds. The only down side is the road to the hotel. While it is an all-weather road, it is poorly lit and bumpy. Regardless, lunch or dinner at the Alps is a must-do.

The room was a perfect size with a massive glass window overlooking the reserve. From our balcony we could see the zebras and water buffalo walking past to get to the waterhole. We enjoyed having a drink by the pool and taking in the views. The decor inside the restaurant and bar area is very creative and colourful, we loved the giraffe hanging lights! The service was at a very high standard and we were always greeted with a smile. An awesome stay :)

Pros: The room is very clean and the waiters are very welcoming. The security in the hotel is very good. There are security guards on duty at the entrance of the two buildings for 24 hours. But the street is not necessarily safe. Buy something in a small shop nearby. The security guard will accompany you with great enthusiasm. The network speed is about 200k/s, and the signal strength is OK. Breakfast is very rich. Disadvantages: The hotel is old, with two new and old buildings, but they are almost ten years old, just across the street. The room is small, there is no desk to work, but the hall is very spacious, so many tables are free to use.

Best location at the heart of Nakuru CBD, where you can shop do walks within the town and public transport is within meters away. The best customer service, the staff are humble, always with a smile, willing to help and assist where they can and very polite. The rooms are spacious. If you love the natural lighting in your room, the windows are all wide. Great breakfast, fresh food and fruits. Beds are super comfortable and classy. WiFi is fast. TV is available and you can switch over the lighting within the room to your liking. The gentleman and ladies at the reception, very humble. However, poor workmanship especially on laying of the tiles, Wall paint peeling off and the finishing on ceilings and woodwork. At first, I thought this was among the old hotels within Nakuru, only to be told its among the new. Some section of the stairway from rooms to the restaurant is missing rails. The room I was in, the bathroom had no sliding door. If you are on budget, working within town or on transit, this is the place to stay. I enjoyed my stay, slept to the best of my comfort, the bed are super comfortable.

We stayed at Kivu Resort just before Christmas so it was in full festive mode! Nakuru is a busy bustling city and it was a relief to get into the peace of the Resort itself. Reception is tucked away at the back of the hotel but there were plenty of people on hand to show us the way. All the staff we encountered were courteous, helpful and friendly. All the rooms are bungalows set around a courtyard garden. We stayed in the deluxe rooms. Each room has a small entrance hall wIth wardrobe space. The rooms are basic but clean and functional. The bathrooms were very basic and could do with an upgrade. The rooms would have benefitted from a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities too. The bed was a good size with mosquito nets but the pillows were hard. In addition to the bed there were a couple of armchairs and a small table, a chest of drawers and TV. There was plenty of space within the room for bags etc and the African themed curtains were cheerful and fun. The hotel has a swimming pool and a childrens pool which was set in pleasant gardens. We had lunch by the pool but the wait for our food was lengthy. The pool is open to non residents and so by the time we left it was quite busy as it was the school holidays. I chose the hotel for its proximity to the main gate of the National Park where we went on a game drive for much of the afternoon. It took us very little time to get to the park. We had lunch, dinner and breakfast at the hotel which we had to preorder at reception. The menu was rather limited. The bean stew was a big hit with the vegetarian in the group. We enjoyed breakfast very much and it was served from about 6:30 allowing us an early start, The hotel provided us with packed lunches including a vegetarian option.

Traveled to Nakuru for my dads anniversary, we had a dinner in town then checked in at Merica Hotel. We had booked for bed and breakfast. The facility is okay with a swimming pool and the rooms are average in size with WiFi. We had a small problem in the morning, there was no hot water. We called the reception they promised to send someone over but no one came so we had to do with what we had. The breakfast was okay comprised of fruits, porridge and cereals. The service to me was just okay the guards though are more proactive. I wish I had taken an air bnb instead. The bathrooms need abit of renovations.

The Gees Inn is good. The bed is comfortable. It has a wardrobe and a table and chair. The TV only gets very limited channels. But the breakfast is good. If one has got a WiFi computer.....no problem.... Gees has WiFi! And downstairs is a little pub! ( They sell beer at 200 shillings ).....I frequented the pub most nights. And it is a short walk to the centre of town!
