It was a typical Comfort Inn, older building, one elevator, their usual hot breakfast and an outdoor pool. Noticed a few odd smells, from the elevator to the room which smelled faintly of cigarette smoke. Windows don't open for fresh air. The sink plunger was broken, there was a large humidifier in the room and the hall, the bed was a little too hard for my taste, but great pillows and bedding. I appreciated the microwave and mini-fridge, nice towels, the place was clean and overall good stay.

I have stayed here several times (at least six, but maybe, more). I have NEVER been disappointed! The staff is so friendly. Rooms are spotless...thank you housekeeping! Pool service, daily food and drink specials, gym, theater, free movie rentals...all excellent and the employees are super friendly. There is no ”restaurant” on site, but the daily grill food specials vary, and you can reserve a meal for pickup. BBQ grills are clean, and you can cook your favorite foods. The pools are exceptionally clean. There is an outdoor firepit where you can sit and sip. A lot of activities for the kiddies. Modern, updated rooms with a lot of amenities. I have stayed here so often that I really noticed the attention to details. Staff are second to none. I highly recommend a stay here, but book way in advance...and don't take my room because I WILL be back!

Our vacation wasn't scheduled to start until Saturday at our condo on the beach but we wanted to get the driving out of the way Friday so we stayed one night at this Holiday Inn express! The hotel is acceptable but these ladies Sonya and Donna in the cafeteria for breakfast we're darling 🤩 Loved the Way they spoke to my boys and how they just seemed so joyful. It was a great first encounter on a Saturday morning to start my vacation week! Thank you Sonya and Donna!!

The entire place smells bad. It's filthy. Staff (except Don) are extremely rude and very unprofessional. In the first room i was put in the garden tub in my room was broken and not able to be used. The phone to the office was broken. The room was not very clean. In the morning I woke up to loud construction in the room next to mine. (No warning of this) and my water was turned off while I was in the shower. (No warning). The furniture is outdated and disgusting. After talking to the front desk I was told I was moving to another room on the other side of the hotel where there wasn't any construction. When I came back that evening to move the nasty, rude, unprofessional lady at the desk that evening kept rolling her eyes when I told her what was going on and that I was supposed to move. She finally called the owner and said he said ”No I'm fine where I'm at”. I woke up the next day again to construction and spoke with the desk again. I was finally moved. The rooms AC did not work, there was no cable. The blankets were filthy. The night stand was sticky and gross. The couch didnt even have the cushions that belong to it on it. There were cushions from an obviously different old dirty couch. The garden tub was falling apart and the cable didn't work. And let's not forget the roaches. The nasty night lady was there so I waited until morning. I told the manager only about the cable and roaches. The owner started screaming and cussing at me saying this is how it is and this is his customer service and if I don't like the condition of the hotel to pack and get my a$$ out. He told me to never rent there again and that if I mentioned anything else wrong he would throw me out of the hotel because he isnthe owner and can. I walked away as I was leaving in the morning and was late for an appointment. I called the site I rented through to report. When they called the hotel the owner lied and said everything was fine. The water never went off and everything was in good working condition and I just wanted a discount and they refused. Beware! I wouldn't dare try the free breakfast due to the bad smell, filthy conditions and roaches here

My wife and I arrived after midnight. We had worked all day and driven several hours to Pnanma City. When we arrived the lobby doors were locked for security and a sign directed you to use your room key or pick up a phone that was on the wall. As we had no key, I picked up the phone. It rang between 20-30 times and was then answered. The lady advised she was on the third floor and would be down shortly. A few minutes later, she arrived and unlocked the door. She checked us in without incident and was friendly. As I was extremely tired from a 20-hour day, I just wanted to get to sleep, so we went straight up to the room. My wife immediately noted several medium lengths to long black hairs in the room. They were on the floor in the bathroom, in the sink, in the shower. We were both too tired to address the situation at that time, so we took some pictures to address it in the morning. We cleaned the hair up and went to sleep. In the morning, we approached the desk clerk and explained what had happened. Her response was a little terse and caught me off guard. She wanted to know why it was not reported when we noticed the issue. I explained I was tired and a little cranky and felt it would be better to address the situation when rested and less apt to be impolite. We attempted to show the pictures, but she seemed somewhat ambivalent. We told her all we wanted was for the room to be cleaned while we were gone for the day and her attitude seemed to mellow. She said she would notify the general manager of our concern. When we got back, the room was cleaned, and all the hair was gone. We were not contacted further. Many of my reviews talk about how issues arise, and I try not to judge the issue, but rather how it is addressed. I do not think this was handled in the best way possible. As for the rest of the hotel, it was clean, and the public areas were nice. The location is okay, but not great. We chose this as it was the closest Bonvoy property to our son's residence. I think I would drive a little further on future visits.

I was trying to find an affordable hotel for vacation and even though this one still seemed overpriced, I went ahead and hoped for the best. Upon check in, I noticed that the staff gave me a reused card holder and during Coronavirus pandemic, that just seemed like a big no-no to me, but I moved past it. I went to the hotel room and tested the door only to find out that the chain had been removed and the deadbolt also unlocked with a key. I had to go buy an alarm for the door since it was so sketchy. The sheets smelled like they were never changed- stank beyond belief. The room wasn’t swept or mopped and we had to wear shoes unless we wanted the bottom of our feet to turn black from the nastiness on the floor. The day after we checked in, we had room service come in (which we didn’t want but there was no do not disturb sign available), and after we got back, my Birkenstock’s had been moved as if someone had tried them on. GROSS. The second night we stayed there, a couple of men were arguing and threatening each other outside our room for HOURS. The point that terrified me the most was when one man claimed to have a gun as a way to scare the other one. Keep in mind, the door is crap and barely locks. The next morning, I had my boyfriend shove everything we had into the suitcase and take everything to the car. When I went to the lady at the front desk and tried to check out and ask for a refund I was met with attitude and skepticism. She said to me “you checked in two days ago and you’re just now feeling unsafe?” With a look on her face. I said “I felt unsafe the first night I got here but last night was the last straw.” I asked for the refund and she said she would have to talk to her manager, which I’m pretty sure means no and she just wanted to get me out faster. I will NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone.

Wonderful stay — depending on what the guest is looking for. To start, this motel is a step back in time. Late 1950s, early 1960s vibe. This would be OG Panama City Beach, folks. From the parking lot, this is straight out of a movie set from mid century America. The “front desk” is in a round building separate from the motel — the way they used to be when folks hit the road for long vacations and drove up to their room area. Free coffee in the check in area and the absolutely nicest front desk staff you will ever meet. Friendly, attentive staff is a hallmark of this place. Lots of staff on hand to help out. I have stayed in $500/night hotels on NYC’s prime areas and not had staff this attentive and friendly. The room was large (especially by modern standards), bed comfy and balcony overlooked pool and the Gulf. Refrigerator was larger than the standard hotel mini-fridge and can hold quite a bit of food. Microwave is standard hotel size. The pool was hopping. Lots of families, retirees and young adults. Teenagers took over at night and had a great time. A huge checkers and chess board was fun for the kids to clown around with. There are steps to the beach, and you can get umbrella and chairs set up down there. Lots of people just seemed to picnic by the pool or sun deck, and had drinks at pool bar. Plenty of towels available for the pool chairs. Again, staff is amazing. They are even patient when a dozen children (age 10 or so and under) from lots of different families pile into the bar chairs and ask for glasses of water that are served with a smile and as if those soaking wet kids are the most important guests they have. Now, for why this place isn’t for everybody: building design is vintage, no-nonsense concrete and brick. It is not a modern high-rise. There is no elevator. If you need help, tell staff in advance, and they will put you on the parking lot level so you can drive to your door. There are ice machines on the east side of each level. It is not fancy, and if you want modern, this is not it. Remember, one person’s “dated” is another person’s time-travel fun. This is a step back to mid century US vacation heyday. The biggest difference from that era: The mix of guests is delightfully diverse. In short: I found it to be a fun place, clean, comfortable, had all the amenities we needed and was a good value. Would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend to folks who would appreciate the vibe. I hope someone doesn’t come in and “update it” beyond its historic roots.

Overall our stay was very pleasant. The bedroom was huge and the bed slept very comfortable. The convenient of the hotel was great. Not to far from the beaches and attractions. It was restaurants, shopping Plaza and grocery stores near as well. If you want some of the places was in walking distance. Howard Johnson is a hotel we'll consider going back to. The owner was very welcoming and personable.

Hotel needs some updating.. especially in the bathrooms. The fixtures in the shower were all loose... shower curtain was moldy. Room seemed damp all the time. Not sure if a dehumidifier is needed or what, but the sheets felt wet when you sat on them. Actual room seemed fine, just had issues with the bathroom. The ”key tags” they use only seemed to work half the time. I got a lot of exercise going to the front desk. They would only give us 1 key tag. Kind of a pain because if one person left the room, the other had to stay in the room because they didn't have a key to get back in!! Phone did not work to call the front desk. It seemed plugged in, but there was no dial tone. There were only 2 bath towels in the room. Well, the room was so damp, they never dried. I had to go to front desk to get more towels. You should put at least 4 towels in a room that has sleeping for 4. Breakfast was less than exciting. Only thing we had was the pineapple juice. Front desk staff was not very friendly... it won't kill you to smile at a customer. They all looked like they hated their jobs.

The property is under renovations so looks a bit like a construction site. Asked for a renovated room which was disappointing because the renovations are only half hearted. Examples; the bathroom tub and toilet and surround was new but the bathroom fan was so full of lint and grime that when turned on, it “rained” black lint on the floor and toilet. The 90’s curtain was not replaced and in fact was hanging off the pull rod. Our room had an area with a couch but there was no lighting in that area making it unsuitable for use. The manager promised to look for a lamp to solve the problem. Never heard back from him. Wish I had not stayed here.
