We loved Barcelo Guatemala City hotel. We arrived around 7 pm at the airport, the shuttle driver was already waiting for us at the arrival area, the hotel had nice, clean van and it’s only 5 minutes from the airport. Fast check in, the hotel is big and clean, our room was on the 8th floor with 2 balconies. We had a king bed and they provided us with 2 bottled water and a tray of fruits. They have a pool but we didn’t have enough time to enjoy it. Breakfast was very nice, they have different guatemalan food choices for breakfast everyday like fajita, plantains, beans. They also have the usual eggs, bread, cheeses, yogurt, cold cuts and lots of fresh fruits. The servers were so kind. We also ate at the restaurants inside the hotel, Kyoto for japanese cuisine and Strikers for american food. We exchanged currency at the front desk everyday since we don’t know how much money we will spend for every tour. We made Barcelo our base hotel and took tours everyday. We did Hobbitenango, Antigua, Chichicastenango, Guatemala city tour and Lake Atitlan with San Juan la Laguna, which we all booked via Viator, we were lucky that most tours it was only the 2 of us. There is a supermarket Paiz just one block from the hotel where we bought drinks and snacks. The area is very safe and the hotel has 24/7 guards at the lobby and gate. We also booked the shuttle going back to the airport, our flight was at 6am and we took the first shuttle at 4 am, plenty of time to get to the airport, security and immigration. I'm currently staying at the Best Western hotel...it's awesome and great to have some English speaking individuals to exchange words with though most of them speaks Spanish. The room wasn't so fancy, however I gotta say in a cold environment the water system is amazing, quick water heating and a amazing electric system that operates by just leaving your door card in the system by the door and it give the room it's electricity. Apart from that experience. Great employees and a wonderful chef and great servers. Would be 5star if they actually have bilingual employees but thanks to Google translation all went well.From$90

I stayed at this hotel for four nights. I was assigned room 304. Service - Everyone I interacted with at this hotel was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Some speak limited English, but it is fun to learn Spanish, so I like that part of it. Wait staff in the restaurant were all great. The security staff (always stationed outside of the front entrance to the hotel) were also great. Room - Room was large and super clean. Quiet. Super comfortable bed. Mini refrigerator. Safe. Great working AC. It made the room freezing cold, which I love. Great curtains that completely kept the room dark when sleeping in. Wi-fi was reliable and fast. Room did not have a view. Bathroom was fine. Adequate counter space for your toiletries. Shower water temperature got and stayed very hot and the water pressure was great, which I love. Hotel Information - The hotel has 109 rooms and five floors. Decent size lobby, with an ATM, little pantry for snacks and beverages near the front desk, restaurant / bar, business center, and fitness center. I did not have a rental car, so I am unable to comment on parking. Free breakfast buffet for Hilton Diamond members. Breakfast buffet was excellent with tons of fresh fruit, three fresh juice options, tons of hot and cold items, made-to-order omelets, etc. Due to COVID-19, they serve it to you, but it is AYCE. Location - I loved the location of this hotel! It is located in Zona 9 (one of the safest zones in Guatemala City). It is located one block off of Avenida La Reforma (one of the main boulevards in Guatemala City that separates Zona 9 and Zona 10). You can walk to restaurants (almost every US chain is within walking distance - Applebee’s, Burger King, Carl’s Jr, Chili’s, Cinnabon, Dunkin’ Donuts, KFC, McDonald’s, P.F. Chang’s, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, Subway, Taco Bell, and TGI Fridays). Great shopping malls are within walking distance (Avia Mall and Oakland Mall). Oakland Mall is beautiful, huge, and four floors. La Aurora International Airport (GUA) and Zoológico La Aurora are less than 10 minutes by car. Plaza España, Plaza Obelisco, and the many gardens, monuments, sculptures, and statues on Avenida La Reforma, Avenida Las Américas, and 7A Avenida are within walking distance. Most of my tours did not pick up at the Hilton Garden Inn. They only had three hotel options for pickup. One was The Westin Camino Real, which is only two blocks away in Zona 10. I used that hotel as a pickup and drop off for my tours. It was convenient. I highly recommend this hotel if your travels take you to Ciudad de Guatemala!From$107

The Room is very clean and big, with a balcony, its fantastic view of the City, i stayed on the 12th floor, the view from the room was amazing, it centrally located, may eatery around, all good once, a burger king is just across the street. receptionist speak good English and the service is very good,
My only Suggestion is the breakfast, its good to allow the guest to go for Buffet, instead of set menu, the restaurant people don't speak English so you don't what they are giving you.
I would come back to this place, what more you need, its safe, clean, good service and very reasonable price. Most important they have a Airport shuttle at just 10USD its great.

The hotel itself is pretty nondescript. It has nice size rooms and access to a garden where one can eat or relax. The great thing about this hotel is the lady who runs it is super-helpful and sweet. She answers your questions and makes sure you get anything you need. She allowed us to check in early, helped us order in Pollo Campero, and even packed us breakfast because we were leaving very early for the airport. She even directed us to the zoo which is a short pleasant walk and surprisingly was an excellent place to visit. Great stay!From$57

If i can give 10 out of 5 stars I would!! The hotel staff is kind, welcoming and friendly! My room was perfectly cleaned daily! Yes, in the states we would think that it's not a big deal but trust me, it's a BIG deal when you travel through Central America. With visiting a new country, I was a little uncertain about the right hotel to stay in, but, when I pulled up in the Uber, I was BEYOND grateful that the pictures matched real-life. The entire hotel had an old world, relaxed vibe, that made the wind down easier. I have never traveled to Guatemala before and the friendly service has me considering returning, for a longer, personal trip. Even though I'm not fluent, in the native language, most of the ppl with whom I came in contact, including hotel staff, were VERY helpful and patient.
The bed was VERY comfortable, the room smelled like it had been cleaned, recently and it was VERY spacious.From$109

They were very kind and the accommodation was clean. The airport pick-up service was also safely accessible and is about a minute's drive away. The place where the accommodation was located was surrounded by barbed wire, and the guard was guarding the entrance, so I felt safe. Also, the breakfast was great, and lastly, the kind owner gave me a ride to the airport. If you have to spend a day near the airport, I definitely recommend it.

I’ve been there two days ago for a one day visit of Ciudad de Guatemala (which I recommend!) two days ago. Very nice place with welcoming people. It is quite close to the airport, a 20 minutes bus ride from the center in a nice residential neighborhood. The tropical garden is very relaxing and beautiful, the room was okay, maybe a bit on the dark side because it was ground floor, but nicely set up in a traditional way. The restaurant could offer more vegetarian options, but all we had was good. I recommend and would come back!From$84

When booking my trip to Guatemala City I decided to book three rooms at 3, different Hotels in the city. After we arrived we went and checked out all 3, and chose H & F. The room they initially showed us was a beautiful 1 bedroom. When we checked in a few days later they upgraded us to a huge 1 bedroom loft with 2 bathrooms Which was a great surprise. The room has everything you could possibly need from wine to pasta to juices and all sorts of goodies. I had read reviews on here about the bed not being comfortable. Lucky for us the bed was exactly what I needed firm but not bad or uncomfortable. The bathrooms are upgraded and great water pressure. The hotel offers parking for those who are driving and staying at the hotel. There is also a parking lot next to the hotel. We felt very safe and secure staying here and also walking around this area of Guatemala City. This Hotel is located inside of a small high end mall. As soon you walk into the mall you should ask security for the hotel. There is an elevator to the hotel as soon as you walk into the mall but it can definitely be missed. There are restaraunts and shops right down stairs. The Hyatt centric is down the street as are a lot of the higher end hotels.SOLD OUT
