Reviews From Real Travelers
Our family recently stayed for one week at Rosewood Mayakoba. We went for Thanksgiving week and there were lots of festive theme dinners with delicious food and music. The service by the staff was exceptional- some of the best I have ever experienced in all my years of travelling. ( Including reception, concierge, waiters at restaurants, pool and beach attendants). It is an gated community with lush landscaping , lagoons and a beach. The setting is truly magical. Be sure to take the boat ride offered by the hotel that goes through the resort. My grandchildren loved the resort including the bicycles provided to all the guests, the complimentary beach equipment including a sail boat. The 1.5 hour snorkel trip was great too. We ate at all our meals at the hotel and Zapote was our favorite. Look into the meal plan that is not advertised but is reasonably priced. My son and his wife did the community dinner and said it was a highlight. At the beach and pools the staff come around with treats all day long. The snowballs are great too! The suites are fabulous and large with luxurious bedding. Housekeeping cleaned our suite to perfection 2x a day. There is a great spa with a sauna and steam area and a beautiful adult pool at the spa. Rosewood Mayakoba does everything first class! I want to thank our amazing butler- Gerry. He provided us with great service during our stay and had the best attitude. Be sure to download the app- to contact the butler. He will respond immediately. Thank you also to Susana Palacios/ Concierge- for your great communication in planning our trip. Also to Jorge Garcia- Reservations Agent- for being so kind to us. It was a pleasure meeting the Rooms Director- Alberto. Thank you for the beach bags. A resort that is that special does not just happen without the leadership of the General Manager- Daniel Scott and the Resort Manager- Christian. They are always present and very engaging with the guests. I loved talking with both of them. There is a reason Rosewood Mayakoba is rated 5 stars by Forbes Travel Guide. They have also won numerous awards including Travel and Leisure Worlds’ Best. Our whole family enjoyed our week at Mayakoba and look forward to coming back.

If you have never stayed at a Rosewood property, stay here. It really is ”barefoot luxury.” Rosewood Mayakoba provides a five-star experience while shedding the stuffiness that often accompanies a five-star experience. Before you arrive, if you have questions or requests, email with the resort concierge. Your questions will be answered, and your requests fulfilled. (Pro tip: Use the resort for you transportation from and to airport). Once you arrive, you will be given a warm greeting and taken to your accommodations where you will enjoy a mezcal margarita, guacamole, salsa, and chips. I dream of riding my beach cruiser to Aqui Me Quedo, sitting by the pool, and enjoying TJs tacos. The team is so attentive at Aqui Me Quedo, after one day, they remember if you like full sun or an umbrella and what your favorite drinks are. Cocktails and dinner at the ultra-cool Zapote (perhaps more than once) are a must. There are the little things that make the stay memorable-champagne o'clock, surprise desserts delivered to your room, rose' ice cubes in the rose', transport by boat to your room, the list goes on. Yes, the resort is beautiful, and the food and drinks are stellar, but more importantly, Rosewood Mayakoba has captured ”that thing” that makes you feel like you are their favorite guest, that you have been there a hundred times, and like you are home. If you go, I promise you will meet other guests who are there for their third, tenth, twentieth stay. I am already planning my third visit. Bravo, Silvia Luevano and every single person who gives Rosewood Mayakoba a sense of place.

We just got back from an extended family reunion at the Grand Velas, Riviera Maya and can't say enough positive things about it...but will try: - The rooms were fantastic. Super comfortable and big enough to fit families of 5 (assuming one is an infant) - One of our party had mobility issues, which was not an issue at the hotel - The food is unbelievably good for an all inclusive hotel - The service is amazing, all around. The people at the restaurants and pool are working non-stop to serve you. A huge shout out to our personal concierge Jorge who helped our family tremendously and to Osvald from the - Teen club who were amazing - There are a ton of activities to do for all ages - The pool is unbelievable - Make sure you try Piaf Can't wait to go back!

Amazing hotel, everything from the room to the beach to the restaurants to the pools (with swim up bars in them). Adrián was great helping us with reservations and providing any information needed easily with a WhatsApp chat, great service! We also enjoyed the Karaoke bar and the waitress Estefany was perfect for her role there. Absolutely recommend this hotel to everyone!

My friend gave me the famous Xcaret Water Park. The hotel prices on Christmas are ridiculously expensive, especially the hotels under Xcaret. So this time, apart from staying in this Xcaret Mexico (hereinafter referred to as X), the other one is not very popular with Chinese tourists. Many Iberostar Quetzal (hereinafter referred to as Q). The price of Hotel Q is less than half of that of Hotel X (of course, Hotel X includes tickets to the amusement park, whether it is worth it or not). I recommend Q more than X, which is more popular with Chinese people, has better hardware facilities, and better scenery. environment: Hotel X is a five-star hotel that Chinese people are familiar with. It has large rooms, new facilities, and hardware. The beach is very distinctive, it feels like an Avatar floating mountain. Most of the beach is reef, a short stretch of sand, and the water quality is super good. X is the garden and Q is the jungle. Catering Services: If I only stayed at the X hotel, I might think it was fine, but unfortunately I stayed at the Q hotel. In contrast, Q Hotel has a feeling of being at home, the waiters are more happy and easy-going, the drinks are open for drinking, the buffet is fresh and varied, and there is basically no need to wait for a table. You can eat big lobster and oysters on Christmas Day, without being stingy at all. In contrast, the waiters at Hotel X are all business-like, and they have to wait for a table when there are not many people at the buffet. It looks like a big place, but there are few tricks to eat and drink. I also made an appointment for a Xin Gao Japanese meal. Don't expect too much. My daughter ordered an appetizer of rice, and what was served was a bowl of white rice! I ordered sashimi without wasabi, the waiter said sorry, there is no wasabi today, I will soak ginger slices for you instead of wasabi Activity: It is very convenient to go to the park under Xcaret, every 20 minutes. The hotel has a free drop-off service, you need to make an appointment one day in advance

As the Banyan Tree service did not have to say, that is, the charges are expensive, even the expensive is not good for hygiene, the pool villas, the small collapse in the yard can not lie, placed in the corner of the eaves do not say mosquitoes There are many ant bugs and a lot of spider webs. It looks dirty. The colony is also covered with insect secretions and spider webs. The partitions in the room are all gray, which makes people feel uncomfortable. And if it is too far to go to the beach, it is not convenient. It can only be said that this Banyan Tree is relatively backward, not as good as the nearby Viseroy.

What surprised me was the set of drawings used by Banyan Tree Sanya and Banyan Tree Sanya. The lobby landscape, villa landscape and interior decoration are exactly the same! The difference is that the private swimming pool in Sanya has a curved line, this one is a straight line. Behind the villa is the Maya River, but Sanya lacks a river. The breakfast is great, Mexican style, hot and sour, all Chinese can enjoy.

We had the best time at Mahekal! It was our second time back and we’re ready to plan our next stay. The rooms are lovely and the amenities are everything you need for a relaxing vacation. Food and drinks are very good (especially compared to other all inclusives in the area), but what stuck out the most to us was the service. Everyone we encountered was more than kind and really made the experience so memorable. Special shoutout to Rosa, Alberto, Luis, Eduardo, Manuel and Gilberto - they are all a dream and we miss them already! Can’t wait to go back.

Finishing up our trip to Mahekal. By far the best experience I’ve had in Mexico! Room was 2 seconds from the beach with hammocks to lay in and relax. The food and Spa were definitely the highlight though! We enjoyed dinner at Fuego so much, we had to go back each night. At the Spa, Gloria and Rubi were amazing and Elsa treated us extremely well 10/10 definitely coming back

We just returned from our anniversary trip to the Andaz Mayakoba, and we loved it. We actually starting planning our next visit before we had even left! The service is excellent--only positive experiences with all staff we encountered. They are so kind, helpful, and sincere. We loved having our room cleaned every day, then tidied again in the evenings while we were at dinner. The beach is beautiful--lovely soft, light sand and NO sea****! The whole Mayakoba area has barriers placed in the sea to keep the sea**** from getting into the swimmable areas and onto the beach (we heard from other couples on our flight back that sea**** was a problem on other beaches around Cancun and Playa del Carmen). The whole resort is lovely with meticulous grounds. The buildings have a modern feel to them (stainless steel, gray woods, glass), but with a beautiful, colorful mural painted on each one (in the lagoon area). The regular king bedrooms are spacious with big bathrooms, a sitting area, and an outdoor patio. (We've stayed in suites in the past which are lovely and have a great little plunge pool, but don't ever really use all the space since we're usually off doing things). The resort is divided into a lagoon area and a beach area with bicycles you can ride back and forth, or golf carts that will take you from one area to the other. Both areas have their advantages with access to restaurants and pools. The lagoon area feels a little quieter, probably. It's easy to access both areas--I enjoyed riding the bikes to and fro. Food is very good. Highlights for us were Sotavento which is magical at night--right on the beach with lights and lanterns. I had sea bass and the green salad at Sotavento and both were delicous. The ice creams there were top notch--we tried two of the desserts one night, then came back again the next night for dessert so we could try the other ice creams! Casa Amate is a little pricey--but worth the splurge. Everything is prepared so beautifully. The red snapper was cooked perfectly and bursting with spices and flavor, and my wife's chicken was ultra tender and flavorful. Starters, salads, and desserts were fantastic. The other restaurants are less money--Tinta del Pulpo and Cocina Milagro portions are large and shareable--especially if you plan to get dessert! (I liked Tinta because when in Mexico, I love eating good Mexican food.) Overall--highly recommended. One of our favorite resorts anywhere.

Staying at Iberostar for the second time, never disappointed! I like their diving shop the most. The arrangement is reasonable, the price is favorable, and there is a 20% discount for advance booking. The restaurant is all-inclusive, brunch is a buffet, and there are many restaurants to choose from for dinner, which requires advance reservation. Suitable for travelers who can travel on their own with good English!

1 star - Please read if you care for your credit history and money. I worked in the travel industry and often travel a few times a year. My fiancé and I upgraded to the “privilege” rooms paying $420USD. Allow me to list the issues 1) The room was not fully stocked and we had to have room service come again to stock the bar 2) Hairdryer did not work 3) The Jaccuzi in the bathtub was leaking and we had Maintenance fix it the next day (I have videos) 4) Upgrading gives you a wine bottle. We didn’t get this until the next day AND no wine glasses 5) Room was dirty and not cleaned properly all the days and basics missing like tissues and etc What was the point of paying this much for an upgrade? The butler didn’t even schedule my ride back from the room to the lobby for check out time although she promised to. Here is when it gets worse!!! KEEP reading please They gave us a sales presentation to become a member with them. 10,000USD. I asked them not to a hard inquiry on my credit and they did. They lied and not no one from the company is responding to me. I emailed them to cancel my agreement and everyone is bouncing me back and forth. The director of sales Roger and the sales representative Ray are scammers. They are not willing to resolve any issue with doing a hard check on my credit or compensation. I want both Roger and Ray to fix my credit with the company and provide compensation for this horrible experience. I will write my experience and reviews everywhere until my issues are resolved.

It is NOT all inclusive and most of the resort smells like sewage! Anything on the beach is most likely you have to pay (the fancy beds, the food) Even the pool by the beach, the same chairs that are free on the beach you need to pay for and reserve at the poor nearby. Marley Coffee..not included, ice cream...not included, the Spa...not included Most of the staff are not aware of the happenings/way things are run on the resort. The guy giving out towels was unaware and surprised that chairs need to be paid and reserved around the pool near the beach. Workers gave the impression the Brasserie restaurant/buffet is reservation only, but when we went there they let us in no problem. Along with the luggage. Rooms are ready by 3pm and if you arrive hours early they will put your luggage away and serve whoever is present/bring them to their rooms before you when you are ready. (Recommend booking a later flight so you arrive after 3) We enjoyed the rooms, and DID have it serviced everyday, my only issue was the bathroom design. The shower design in villas makes it so it will leak out into the hallway. Slit in bathroom/toilet so you can see into. Gross/briny beach that is not really swimmable/deep, along with the pools , they are all about 5ft deep and warm Tips to survive The Fives: 1. DO NOT close the big glass door to your balcony if one of you is not in the room, you WILL be locked out and need to wave down employees to come let you back in. 2. USE interact for buying things if you run out of money, the ATM’s charge you $30 to use. 3. The monkeys will steal your items if they are not secured to you. Be careful when throwing things in trash, in case there is a possum inside. 4. DO NOT brush your teeth/rinse toothbrush with sink water in room, it smells 5. DO NOT eat the lettuce, or you will spend the next few weeks with stomach pain and consistent bathroom visits 6. Save your tip money for when you actually need it!!!...and you will (see following stories) We booked a few excursion via AirTransat/a worker named Dhyada. She was very pleasant and answered our questions...or so we thought. Our first excursion was snorkeling and visiting the Isle De Mujeres. Dhyada mentioned that we need $10 USD for a travel cost. (She failed to mention WHO to give this to) We are not that well versed in travelling, so we gave it to the bus driver and he kept it as a tip. When we arrived at the docks to leave, we didn't have any $, due to the agent saying we only needed it for souvenirs etc. We were bailed out and totally unaware that ”etc” meant EVERYTHING. When we arrived at the island (without any cash/cards whatsoever), we were greeted by the bathroom costing money, anywhere in the shade costing money, water from the bar costing money. Had we known we would have brought some, but we were lead to believe otherwise. We tried to plead with the caravans to take us back we don't want to stay in the blistering sun with no water for 3 hours. But they persisted t

Everyone we encountered was more than kind and really made the experience so memorable. Special shoutout to Rosa, Alberto, Luis, Eduardo, Manuel and Gilberto - they are all a dream and we miss them already! Can’t wait to go back.

This is a very nice small hotel with extraordinary service. We stay here every time we are in Playa del Carmen. You feel so comfortable in this place, that you really feel like home. This was our fifth time and we stayed for 8 days. The hotel is excellently located 5 minutes walk from the beach and two blocks from la Quinta Avenida, that is the heart of Playa del Carmen, full of restaurants, bars and cafes, but despite this, the hotel is very quiet and the environment is very relaxed. And this place is cheap when you consider the prices in Playa del Carmen. We strongly recommend it!

The hotel is an older hotel. The location is great for access to the beach and walk around 5th Ave. The bartenders and the travel shop/scuba shop were great the hotel maintenance and front desk staff were not the best. We did have issues with our rooms and they were fixed eventually except the king room that we booked was not available and we had to share a double bed. Iit’s an older hotel with musty smells and stuck drawers. The pool closed early on a Saturday night (8pm) but the mariachi/karaoke can play until 11pm and the noise will carry into the room. The kelp on the beach is filled with sand fleas and we came home with over 100 sand flea bites between the 5 of us. The buffet was ok but not worth $45 per day per person.

The hotel was very, very pleasantly surprised. On the seaside, there is a road with a rooftop swimming pool. The most beautiful infinity pool I have seen. The sea is in the distance. Dropping this hotel provides the greatest comfort on the way
