We stayed for 3 nights in November as a large group of 14 adults and 5 children, it was our third trip to Castlemartyr as a group and we had a great time. We rented out 3 of the Gate Residences which are located just as you drive in. The houses have everything you need amenities wise and were absolutely spotless. They're bout a 5 min walk to the village and a 7 min walk to the hotel itself which is super handy. The village has a Centra, Greengrocers as well as a couple of pubs so all you need really. Concierge service is available from the house but it's such a nice walk especially at night so would highly recommend once the weather is good. We had dinner in The Canopy Restaurant on the first night and the Hunted Hog both other nights. Food was absolutely delicious in both as it always is and the service was fantastic. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner the food is really good in the hotel. One thing I would say, if you have a baby who is only moving to solids, there are no options available except soup. So I would advise bringing your own if you have a young baby. It would be great if the hotel offered something even like Ella's Kitchen pouches in the future. The pool is great for adults and kids alike. There are alotted times to bring children and they have a ball. But alternatively there are adult only times which is great too if needing to chill and have a swim. Have to give a special mention to the babysitting services onsite as well. If you require a baby sitter the hotel will provide numbers to organise yourself. We've had Eileen on every visit and I can't praise her enough, she has been amazing and so good with the kids as well. It's great having the option if you want to go for a bite to eat and a drink knowing the kids are being so we'll looked after in the house. Overall another great few days in Castlemartyr and we're looking forward to heading back in the future.

Stand out experience was dinner in Terre, Michelin star restaurant. Chef's table. It started with a guided tour of most of the ingredients used in the dinner menu ,followed by amuse- bouche with champagne while observing the calmest head chef, V Crepel at work,in a stunning dimly lit kitchen with amazing upbeat tunes . Service was excellent. Food was utterly memorable, a culinary extravaganza..from scallops to lobster to caviar..wagu beef..local deer ..fabulous petit fours in the decadent old world bar next door...wonderful opulence in Christmas decorations throughout the hotel...super cosy and warm...Enjoy !
