"This was my family’s sixth time to go to the Rosewood Mayakoba. We have been going back year after year because of the impeccable service, the friendly staff, the beautiful amenities, and the kindness that exudes from every single person there. We love Alberto and Miramar! They are the most fabulous butlers. You would have no idea how many other families they take care. They make you feel as if you are the only one!!Each room is like your own personal house. No matter where you stay you are treated as a VIP guest. Our children love going to the Rosewood Mayakoba because everyone knows their names and makes them feel so important. The food is above and beyond! There is something for everyone. From The fabulous drinks at at Zapato or the fresh sushi at Agave Azul. Spend a night on the beach at the beach fest!! The resort manager, Maria Jose knows every single person on property! And Jose Maria will make you feel right at home!! This is a place that is very special. We can’t wait to head back."
"A different experience with a baby! After check-in at the Rosewood Hotel in Cancun, you enter the room by boat. Each room is equipped with a butler. You can ask the butler to help you wherever you go or book a restaurant. There is a large bathtub in the room and an outdoor shower. There is also a special dressing table, the welcome gift is also very good, and the housekeeper also helped us adjust delicious tequila. It's just that the swimming pool outside the room is a bit small, but the magnificent private beach is still great👍, the hotel also equipped each room with bicycles 🚲, the baby had a great time, in general, the recommendation index is 5 🌟🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟"
"The Rosewood Mayakoba consistently delivers a level of service that delights and surprises. On our second trip to the property, we brought our three young sons (BOLD). At every turn there was something to entertain and engage the children while mom and dad got to enjoy the luxurious atmosphere. Mariajose and her team at the Rosewood Mayakoba go out of their way to make your stay a great experience whether it's an Adults only or Family trip. Highly recommend!"

It looks dirty. The colony is also covered with insect secretions and spider webs. The partitions in the room are all gray, which makes people feel uncomfortable. And if it is too far to go to the beach, it is not convenient. It can only be said that this Banyan Tree is relatively backward, not as good as the nearby Viseroy."
"What surprised me was the set of drawings used by Banyan Tree Sanya and Banyan Tree Sanya. The lobby landscape, villa landscape and interior decoration are exactly the same! The difference is that the private swimming pool in Sanya has a curved line, this one is a straight line. Behind the villa is the Maya River, but Sanya lacks a river. The breakfast is great, Mexican style, hot and sour, all Chinese can enjoy."

"My wife and I got married at Banayan Tree Mayakoba on 6/17/22. All we wanted was a quiet escape at a different resort close enough that we weren’t so far out of Playa Del Carmen. The Viceroy gave us exactly what we needed. With just 41 rooms the staff tailors your experience to your exact needs. I cannot get over the service, or the food! We will obviously be back as this was one of our favorite experiences in Mexico. Thank you to everyone at the Viceroy. And thank you to the spider monkeys and Coatis who made our mornings that much more relaxing."
"My family and I had such a wonderful stay at the Viceroy. It was very much an experience like no other—from the scenery to the service—it was fabulous. Israel and his staff at the Coral restaurant were lovely. The villa was gorgeous - it very much felt like a secluded paradise where you could just enjoy and truly relax - very much what we needed! Thank you for an amazing stay!"

We booked this hotel for a couples getaway. This hotel is not a 5 star property. It is more of a 3 star property. The first day we got there, the jacuzzi on our terrace was dirty. The second the air conditioner broke. After repairing it we had a problem every night after that. We would leave food on our table and within 5 minutes it was full of ants. The food was mediocre. The room service food was cold everyday. We stayed in the platinum section and that was the only thing good about this place. Mariana the concierge person was the only excellent thing about this hotel as well as Socrates, Maria and Mariana at the platinum bar. The rooms are old and worn out. Unfortunately I can’t say I would consider this place again as it anything but a 5 star property.

We were SO delighted with our choice to stay at Mahekal Beach Resort for four nights during our sons wedding. We booked a garden room (not ocean front or Ocean view) and we were very happy with our choice. Very pleasant guest room with fresh white linens, ample closet, very comfortable bed, nice size bathroom, great AC, everything we needed. There is no TV but we were there to relax and getaway from it all….it was a welcome change. The only things missing the room was a full length mirror which would have been nice while getting ready for the wedding . There was quite a bit of sea****/sargasso on the beach which is common during the summer,so we were very happy we booked a hotel with three nice pools. There was very light music being played by the pools….we were thankful it was not loud or intrusive. The lounge chairs were comfortable, and best of all….the service was OUTSTANDING! (The cabana style lounges, however need to be replaced as they are worn and uncomfortable) Barbosa, Jared, Alan and Rubin were all so gracious and attentive ….truly the kind of employees who make a real difference in the resort experience …..all of them checked on us regularly to make sure we had everything we could possibly want. They were very friendly, very helpful and always there when we needed them. Their English was also excellent, and all of them were very professional. My background is 30 plus years in the luxury hotel industry….4-5 star….and any hotel would be proud to have these gentlemen as representatives. All in all we found the hotel very pleasant, well located near the best restaurants in town, and a wonderful choice for a relaxing vacation. Although we dined only by the pool during our stay, opting to go out on our own to the nearby restaurants and bistros, the items we did order, simple fare, were well prepared. We can not comment on fine dining or other food outlets as we did not experience them. We look forward to returning.

Staying at Iberostar for the second time, never disappointed! I like their diving shop the most. The arrangement is reasonable, the price is favorable, and there is a 20% discount for advance booking. The restaurant is all-inclusive, brunch is a buffet, and there are many restaurants to choose from for dinner, which requires advance reservation. Suitable for travelers who can travel on their own with good English!

We just had the dubious experience of staying at Reina Roja Hotel, an empty bathhouse, er, a “boutique hotel” in the center of PDC. We stayed there because we had read some places saying that it was one of the gay-friendly hotels in town. Regrettably, I did not log in to Travelocity and check the reviews (lesson learned!) First, the good (hey, can’t be all bad, right?): The TVs are upgraded and large. Breakfast is provided – and it’s OK for the most part. Parking is available for a small fee. The hotel is steps away from the famed tourist-trap Quinta Avenida, if you care to be that close to it. And, while it’s a weird design aesthetic, it is a coherent one; to me, it felt pretty creepy and liminal – which isn’t necessarily bad. Now, the bad: This is a NOISY place. Techno starts at ten AM and continues through the early morning hours. I had a falling rain soundtrack turned up to monsoon levels to mask the thump-thump-thump of techno. If you decide after this review to actually stay here, either drink yourself into a coma, bring lots of Ambien, and/or have great earplugs. Furnishings are sp**** and uncomfortable. For example, the bed is firm. Very firm. Klingon-style firm. The sofa was poorly padded as well – and there was only one bedside table. Lighting? Mostly for design, not practicality. No lighting conducive for reading, either by the bed or the sofa. Washcloths are hoarded like gold for some reason (I noted it in another review); we requested more than one, but didn’t get them. Water pressure in the shower? I know, shower issues are a common problem in Mexico - well, this place has them too. The rain shower head provided more of a drizzle (and small for a rain head) – and the temperature fluctuated wildly from just right to boiling hot in a split second. Don’t be tempted by the claims of “boutique”. Or the low price. You can find much better properties in the same price range.

I was a previous guest there from June 23-26th for my friends wedding. I am so disheartened by the terrible service that I received from the staff at this resort. I feel that with their constant promotion through social media and things that I see online I didn't receive the quality of expectation. I experienced incompetent staff who refused consistently to provide great customer service to their guest who paid lots of money to be there. I had to call multiple times for my room to be cleaned daily and still it was only serviced once during my stay and for the refrigerator to be refilled, as well as more towels. I did not receive refill on my beverages at all. My friend who got married had to use my room to have her bridal party get ready in because the room that they stated they had was not ”ready” the day of the wedding, which was suppose to be included in the wedding package. I called multiple times after the videographer and bridal party left prior to the wedding to have my room detailed ; I had to call multiple times, two people finally showed up and stated they would clean my room! When they came to my room I asked for my room to be cleaned and refrigerator to be refilled and they said okay. After, attending the wedding I was notified by the bride that their staff packed up my belongings without my permission and moved it to another room! Again , I was not notified that my items were being moved nor did the staff say anything to me. the staff could've easily called concierge and saw that the room was registered in my name. When I finally returned to the room I found that it was still not cleaned; bed wasn't remade, no beverages refilled, dirty cups stacked on the counter along with old room service plates. I called multiple times to the concierge and was hung up on , the refused to assist me with the issue . The second call they stated that I had to wait until the morning to speak with a manager. Which I never got to speak with a manager and even after leaving and calling I still was unable to speak with a manager about my stay. I am very disappointed the food was horrible , the drinks were very mediocre . The staff who made reservations for guest to dine didn’t have a positive attitude at all. Also the staff the drove around on carts refused to give the wedding party rides multiple times stating that they didn’t have any gas but continued driving. Many of the wedding guest had horrible experiences as well. I would never recommend this hotel to any, beautiful property and live animals but the service sucked. The rooms have plenty of space however you can see that they don't maintain the rooms that well. They also require mask for dining entry but don't tell you that and do not have mask to provide to their guest. There are many other resorts that Cancun had to offer and this isn't one that I would personally recommend!

We stayed in PDC for 2 nights to shop, eat and enjoy the city. We have stayed at other small hotels before so this was not a new adventure for us. It’s been about 3 years since we last visited specifically PDC. I extensively research every place we stay… I wish someone would have left a more candid review. Upon arrival we were excited that our room was ready. We had an early flight and traffic from Cancun was not a problem so arrived around 1pm. Woman at the front desk was really helpful and check in was quick. Hotel lobby and courtyard was as pictured. Very picturesque so far so good. To get to our room, there was no elevator, not uncommon just needed a few minutes to prepare for the sweat to start pouring. Ha! My husband had all of his luggage handled and the lady from the front desk helped me with mine. To be fair, I did not upgrade our room. I reserved a standard king room. With the hotel being a Wyndham property and the price being generally more $$ then other hotels in the area, I felt confident that for 2 nights we would be fine. Boooooo… Our room consisted of a king bed, minuscule refrigerator, skinny table/credenza thing, like a 24in TV, 1 small hung crooked picture over the bed, closet with a safe and small bathroom. There were 2 chairs outside of the entrance door which were basically in the courtyard hallway overlooking the breakfast area. The walls in the bedroom were scuffed and dented everywhere. There was zero natural light in the bedroom as there were no windows (zero) and the patio entrance doors were well enclosed in the shade of the courtyard. The lights in the room were stark white fluorescent. I’ve never seen that before in Mexico. Yuck. Bathroom… shower was fine. Sink water pressure was a trickle when the toilet was flushed which took forever to make a full cycle. We arrived on a Saturday and that night there was a family in the courtyard. The husband and wife were SCREAMING at each other and they had a small child that was BALLING at the top of its lungs for about 2 hours. I tried calling the front desk a bunch of times to have someone check in them but no one ever answered. I was not going out there. Eventually they stopped and it was quiet. I was ready to leave the same night we arrived and go somewhere else. Husband talked me off the ledge and we stayed. I’m just so disappointed that this is somehow a Wyndham property. We love PDC and will be back but will never even consider staying here again.

We came here to celebrate my birthday. When we arrived Charlie was there to check us in and he was very friendly and helpful. We saw him at various times during our stay and he was always friendly and witty. Angel helped us with our bags and he was also very friendly each time we saw him. I had a super relaxing hot stones massage from Rubi. I would recommend her and the massage. Fernanda researched and organised an excursion for us. Fernanda was very patient while we worked out what we wanted to do and when. We had her details on Whatsapp so we could ask her questions in advance and she always replied. I loved the selection at the breakfast buffet. I would only say I wished the hot options were hot rather than just warm. This didn't stop me from having the hot selection though as it was always tasty. Alongside hot there was an omelette station (I didn't try this) plus selections of cakes, fruit, cereals and juice. The team in the restaurant kept the coffee coming and the coffee was also very nice. A shout out to Gabriel and Carla who made us feel welcome each morning. The restaurant is actually Ipanema's Brazilian Grill which serves amazing food in the evening but I was disappointed that it was the Brazillian grill or eat out. Not that much of a hardship as there are loads of eateries nearby but it would have been nice to have a choice. Although Magic Blue is a beautiful and super relaxing hotel, there were a few things which bugged me (didn't stop us from enjoying our stay). The bar area is lacking in atmosphere. It didn't feel like a place where you could hang out and be sociable. Food at the bar is only available up to 8pm. It's difficult to know if it's so dead there because people prefer to go to nearby bars or whether people go to the nearby bars because Magic Blue's is so dead. For that reason we only sat in the bar area once during our 10-day stay, although we did order drinks from there to have at the pool. The gardens and pool area are very well maintained (I loved the landscaping), but the stairs to our rooms and our terrace could have been cleaned better. We were on the 3rd floor in one of the master suites and there was bird droppings at a corner of our terrace when we arrived and up until we left 10 days later. The droppings looked like they had been there for a while. Birds did seem to like perching on the railings, all the more reason to do a proper clean each day I think. While we liked our room, it was clearly evident where repairs have been done. It looks like there was no attempt to make good where, for example, there might have been a leak in the past. For the price of the rooms I think more care should be taken with presentation. We saw the same in the spa. It doesn't have to be seamless but at least try not to make the end result look botched. All in all we like and would recommend Magic Blue. The staff made all the difference.

a very nice to be, the rooms are large with stable ventilation, we didn't know to speak their language but the amazing thing is, most of the workers know to speak and write English . this made us us feel we are home away from home, they escort us to airport as we departure to continue to spend our holiday to Tanzania.
