This was our second stay at this Homewood Suites for business purposes. The first time we were here, we arrived pretty late on a Sunday night, and the mall that was in close proximity to the hotel was closed and dark - the area looked kind of creepy. Add to that the fact that one of the party was awakened in the night by the sound of something going on outside, and looked out to see someone rooting around in the trunk of one of the vehicles, and police taking them away in handcuffs. This most likely colored our perception of the place. This time, however, was a different story. We arrived early in the evening, the stores in the mall were still open, and there were no incidents in the night. Our room was very clean and nice. Not sure if the suites on the 2nd floor are nicer than those on the third floor (where we were placed on our earlier visit), but this room seemed to be a cut above what our recollection of the last stay was. If things have been improved, then bravo!
Check in was easy. Our room was on the third floor, facing the hotel behind us. Super quiet. Everything was clean. My son was touring Penn State the next day, so we didn't use the amenities. Breakfast was good both mornings we were there... premade omelets, turkey sausage, corned beef hash, potatoes, and French toast strips. This hotel is close to a lot of restaurants and shopping. I like the Homewood Suites because of the kitchens, so convenient when traveling with family. Right before check out, we had an issue with the toilet. The maid in our hallway and the maintenance fellow helped out immediately. We enjoyed our stay.

I come to this hotel at least once a year. This has to be my 10th visit and the hotel has everything for the business traveler. This time, however, I noticed it was a bit worn. The heater in my room did not work nor did the TV in the gym (which had not been cleaned in a while). I say this to alert management and not to put the hotel down. I still recommend it. The lobby is roomy/bright and the staff is most welcoming and helpful. There is a mini-store in the lobby and good coffee is offered complimentary each morning. Also on the ground floor is a nice restaurant (Safari Grille - see separate review), a breakfast station, a roomy business center, a laundry (2 washers and dryers), a decent sized gym with a set of weights and finally, a pool plus hot tub. The rooms are just right for business with a good sized desk, good lighting, plenty of outlets and a comfortable chair. The closet is adequate as is the bathroom. There is a decent sized flat screen, a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, iron and hair dryer. It is still a great option, but just in need of a little work.

This by far was the best Hilton garden inn. My son and I had no issues at all. Usually there's little things that may be annoying but was none here. We stayed here for the D-Day reenactment in Conneaut. The pool and hot tub were working well. By far, the best hot tub and pool. You could smell the chlorine as soon as you walked into the hotel. I only pick hotels with hot tubs cuz my aching legs need it. Everyone was nice and pleasant. There's a Burger King and cracker barrel right next door so was convenient. Would definitely stay here again.

First time staying here and most likely will be the last. I frequently stay at Holiday Inns primarily because the service is great and the rooms are spotless. Very disappointed with this location. Check in - the front desk clerk was pleasant but with 3 adults was a bit surprised we were given 1 entry key. Ok, no big deal, usually given 2 but maybe they were short on keys. Got to the room, king size bed with a pull out couch. On the surface the room appeared to be clean. I have worked in several hotels so I know what to look for. Once I began my standard room exam (for bugs and dirt) I was not happy with what I found. 2 pillows and the blanket on the bed had stains. Big enough where I don't understand how it passed the inspection of the laundry attendants. I could tell the cases were laundered by the smell. Not sure about the blanket. I went to the closet to inspect the sheets, pillows and blanket for the pull out. On fitted sheet found several hairs. Pillow protectors were dirty, one pillow case dirty. At this point I decided not to pull the couch out to sleep. Not sure what I would find. By this time I was becoming extremely irritated. Unacceptable for $250 a night. The hotel was crowded and by this time I was exhausted so I just used the flat sheet to cover the couch and went to sleep- not comfortable but oh well. Next morning went to breakfast, dogs and screaming kids all over the place, my daughter informed me that this is the hotel very close to Splash Lagoon (kids now make sense). After a horrible night of kind of sleep on a rock hard couch, screaming children weren't a welcome sound. Sorry. The ONLY good thing was breakfast, large portions and it was really good and made to order. BTW, include it when you book if you want breakfast in the morning. Not cheap and there aren't microwaves in the rooms, another thing I thought was weird. A family of 4 will spend $60+ for a meal and a drink. Another plus was a nice lady at the front desk named Joyce, per her name tag. Very helpful and kind. Other employees were somewhat cordial but indifferent so Joyce stood out. Overall, I give this stay 5 out of 10. Would not stay here again. Expected better for the costs.

I travel frequently and stay in a lot of different Hampton Inns. I have to say that this stay has been one of the best. We were just here for one night travelling from Canada to Florida - the welcome upon reception was outstanding and was a great start. Yes, the rooms are showing some age - but extremely clean. Yes, there was noise from the heating unit and also high winds from outside - again this is to be expected (why we travel with ear plugs) The cherry on the cake was the breakfast area - I have to say this is the most clean and complete breakfast area I have seen at a Hampton in a long long time. It was immaculate and a very good selection of breakfast food. The staff we met were so welcoming - from the manager Kathy to Jan the night clerk. Kathy, you should be proud of your team. If we ever come this way again we will stay at this Hampton for sure.

After having an issue with the national call center, the front desk manager Shelly McGranor reached out to apologize and clarify that all rooms in her hotel were non-smoking. Her response time to my emails was always quick and she was very polite. She added a note to my reservation asking to allow my wife to check in early if a room was available and she also checked in during our stay. All things you would expect from a 5 star hotel management team, therefore my rating of this hotel is as high as I can give it. The rooms were also very clean, comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Keep it up, Shelly!!! Thanks again for making us feel so welcome on Erie, we will be back again should the opportunity arise.

The manager here is amazing. Her name is Alex. She goes above and beyond. She does her job but at the same time greets you with a smile. If you need anything she doesn’t make you feel like you are bothering her. The rooms are clean. The room has full size toiletries. Dove. Full size hand soap and body lotion at the sink. Full size shampoo, conditioner and body wash ash in the shower. It was easy to get towels. We enjoyed the free breakfast.
We went as a family of 5 on a Sunday night to Monday. We chose a Monday to be our park day to avoid large weekend crowds. Hotels guests are to get early entry before public at 10am EXCEPT they let in 350 elementary school kids on a field trip also at 10am without ANY prior notification when booking the reservation a field trip would be occuring. Splash Lagoon claims the hotel was TOLD and clearly they chose not to communicate this to their guests. I spent my mini vacation parenting 350 of other people's kids who were VERY poorly supervised and acting wild. The park was so busy you could barely move. Will never give my business to either place again. We will choose Great Wolfe or Kahalaria instead.

We were going to spend one night at this SpringHill while passing through the area on our way back home from Vermont. Unfortunately due to some issues, we had to leave the same day we checked in. When we arrived, I was greeted by a very strong chlorine smell in the lobby. It didn’t really affect me, however it was highly noticeable. We then checked in, the young man working the front desk was unprofessional and rude. He didn’t really acknowledge us and refused to answer any questions we had about the area and property. It sadly was more of like a McDonald’s arrival experience. We then go up to both of the rooms we were assigned, one on the 4th floor, the other on the 3rd floor. We open the door to room 412 and was greeted by the most overpowering air freshener/cleaning smell, (I’m pretty sure it was bleach or something) it was really bad to the point where my eyes started burning and got a horrible migraine. It was as if they were trying to cover something up. I’ll put it to you this way, I was only in the room for two minutes, by the time I left my clothes smelled like the chemical. We then go to room 322, the other room we were assigned. As soon as I opened the door we were greeted by the same exact overpowering air freshener smell. It’s clearly like they’re trying to cover something up in the rooms. We then go back down to the front desk and were greeted by a friendly older woman. She was very kind, apologized, and cancelled our reservations with no penalty. Overall, due to our experience I don’t think we’ll ever be back. If you have asthma or any autoimmune condition do not, do not stay here!!!! Otherwise, if you love the smell of chemicals and overpowering cleaning products this place is for you!

The walls are paper thin in this hotel and we could hear the children next door crying constantly, doors slamming, people talking, etc. When we checked out and mentioned this, the front desk worker replied, 'That's what I've heard.” There is no actual comforter on the bed, basically two sheets with a thin blanket between them. I went out to the car at 2:30am to get a throw blanket that we travel with so I could try to comfortably sleep.... except that the heat/air conditioner was SO loud and would kick on and off repeatedly and as soon as we were falling asleep we would be awoken again. I NEVER write reviews and am not usually disappointed in Marriott properties, as I have stayed exclusively at them for the last dozen years or so. I felt compelled to write this as I wanted to explain what I experienced so that others don't have to. We were in the middle of 16 hours of travelling and REALLY needed a good night's sleep. That is not what we got.

My wife and I stayed here for our first anniversary. We are from South Carolina. It’s a wonderful hotel but Tay made our stay even more enjoyable. Very friendly, courteous, and informative. We couldn’t have asked for a better desk person! Thank you for all your help.
Need better breakfast selections and have someone there running front desk. It's hard to find someone when you have an issue because Noone is at front desk, sign states had to go upstairs but he was out front smoking. Very unorganized hotel but some has nice amenities.

We were in town for a basketball tournament and stayed 2 nights. Our room was very clean and beds were comfortable. Front desk staff was very accommodating and helpful especially with our large group. Only downside would be they ran out of pool towels at one point. The mall is literally right across the street and several restaurants are close by. Great location!
The room is clean and hotel is quiet. 10/10 would recommend. The front desk staff were very nice and were helpful. WiFi was very fast (100+Mbps) and the bedding was so nice and comfortable. One con was that the desk was right in front of the tv so one couldn't watch tv when someone else does work on their laptop.

The difference a day made! I have only positive things to say about my experience at this hotel. Check-in was welcoming and informative. Without prompting, I received a detailed orientation to the site and its amenities, and was encouraged to use them. The commitment to providing outstanding customer service at the Courtyard by Marriott Erie Ambassador Conference Center extends beyond the front desk. Literally every employee I encountered was helpful, gracious, or attentive. For example, one employee gave me recommended two local grocery stores. This morning's breakfast was bountiful and tasty. By contrast, yesterday's breakfast at the Home2 Suites Erie was basic and blah -- breakfast bowls heated by a lamp, plain bagels, and cereal with milk. No yogurt. Mainly for work, I spend approximately 60 nights per year at hotels. I recognize that hospitality is largely performative. Even if hotel employees are in a bad mood, they tend to meet the expectation to smile and provide useful information. My stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Erie Ambassador Conference Center was flawless. This was a sharp contrast to my previous night's stay at the Home2 Suites in Erie. Unlike at the Courtyard by Marriott Erie Ambassador Conference Center, where my stay was very pleasant, there were zero smiles at the Home2 Suites in Erie. At the Home2 Suites, I was not greeted by name, even after I introduced myself to three employees -- front desk; front desk manager; manager on duty. When I tried to ask questions about the location of the elevators and when breakfast was offered, the front desk manager stopped emptying the trash to butt in the conversation and threaten to cancel my reservation. I obtained that information from the manager on duty, but only after she looked it up. My room at the Courtyard by Marriott Erie Ambassador Conference Center was clean and comfortable. All the expected amenities were present. Nothing was untidy. By contrast, my room at the Home2 Suites by Erie was clean-ish. There was no lotion in the bathroom. There was no hair conditioner in the bathroom. In the shower, I noticed a VERY dirt place where one might place a bar of soap. While showering, I discovered that there was NO shower gel in the wall-hung dispenser. When I removed its cover, I confirmed the dispense was bone dry. Yet another letdown by the Home2 Suites by Erie. I mean, essentially an employee has to *never* check the dispenser for it to be empty. I had high hopes that my next stay at the Home2 Suites, for which I had pre-paid would be more pleasant. I confirmed my reservation with Hilton Honors on 5-31-23 and 6-1-23. I used the Hilton app to select my room and check-in on 6-1-23. As I approached the front desk at 3 p.m. to get my card keys, I saw the side profile of the front desk manager from the day before. She dashed into the office, closed the door, and canceled my reservation at 3:02 p.m. In my experience, that is an all-time low in customer service by a hotel employ

I was traveling to upstate NY for less than ideal reasons, a family emergency that turned into a funeral trip. I don't know if it was fate, karma, destiny, etc. but I ended up with probably the quietest room in the hotel. This was perfect after a long couple of days driving halfway across the country. The room was clean and spacious, and there was no noise to be heard from neighboring rooms. The location was exactly what I needed, and John Russell Brewing Co. was a short 1-2minute walk from the hotel which made the location even better.

Connected with Splash Lagoon, this hotel is a little dated with only one elevator. The rooms have a kitchenette and is relatively large. The front desk is nice and polite. If you're visiting Splash Lagoon, I'd choose this hotel especially if you have a need for a kitchenette.

Our family (35M; 35F; 5 yo; 2 yo) stayed here for four nights. We specifically chose this hotel because of the advertised HEATED pool & water play area for children. We needed a budget family-friendly location which was relatively close to Presque Isle for our mini-vacation. Our room was dated, but standard for what we were paying to stay there. The greatest downfall was the whole reason we booked the hotel; the pool! Had the pool been heated as advertised, we would have been in heaven with our stay. This pool was the absolute coldest pool we have ever encountered in a hotel (colder than Lake Erie & an unheated outdoor pool we went to during our stay in the area). We asked the front desk if the pool was in fact heated, & the gentleman there flat out stated, “no”. Why advertise for a HEATED pool if the pool feels like ice & is NOT heated?! We were incredibly disappointed in the false advertisement because we would have looked elsewhere had we known! Regardless, we stayed & did enjoy the hot tub available there as well. Overall, the hotel has potential to be very nice (needs a renovation), but we will not be staying there again.
