The Carlin Hotel is a stunning property. The views from the balconies are glorious. I really liked the location - just outside of town, so that it is convenient to everything but during the busy holiday season, it’s on a quiet street. It’s a steep walk back from town, but after all the eating we were doing, we didn’t mind. The rooms are beautiful, tastefully decorated. The staff is attentive and friendly (shout out to Patrick who went out of his way to make a stay special). The food at the restaurant is good - we had Christmas dinner at the hotel and it was really delicious. Breakfasts we tasty and plentiful. If you’ve looked at booking this hotel, you know that it is REALLY expensive. They bill themselves as a six star hotel, but at this price, I’d like even five stars to be perfection. Cons - the air conditioning is wonky. It kept shutting off in the middle of the night and we’d wake up and not be able to get it on again. Our family had the Vista and Panorama Suites and the adjoining king rooms had absolutely no windows - of course this is because of the layout of the hotel which is built into a hill - but not only was there no natural light, but it felt like a fire hazard since the only way out in case of emergency is through the door into the hall. One evening, when the restaurant where we had a reservation was out of food (this seems to be an issue during the holidays in NZ), we went back to the hotel before 8:30 p.m. and were told the only food we could order was from the overnight dining menu, when the hotel menu clearly states that the entire dinner menu is available until 9 p.m. - the food was still tasty, but the menu was extremely limited. Other than that, the stay was heavenly and I’d gladly come back and stay again.

Good * Most of the hotel's staff who we engaged with are nice. Especially, Canadian lady from breakfast is an excellent asset for the hotel. She is so friendly and brings positive energies all around. Also, want thank a young French chauffeur and a bartender for their subtle yet sheer enthusiasm. * Most of the hard products throughout the hotel since they are still in newer condition. Especially, Kohler washlet. * The sunset view. * Breakfast and room service menu from Oro restaurant. Bad * This hotel may be good enough for Queenstown, but Not good enough for real 5 star property outside of Queenstown.... inadequate to meet basic requirements. Please, see my comments or pix. * Very very very weak shower water pressure. It's ridiculous. * The room gets very loud and noisy from other rooms and the hallway. No sound proofed walls. Hear noise from next room and above all night long. * Need one consolidated smart control panel instead of every corner of the walls * Not much privacy on the balcony and hideous partition. * Mattress quality : It's sunken and dipped too much. I'm surprised no one has complained yet? * Have doubts about some of the design and material choices for hard products and Especially, curve appeal if they will age well.... * Got one way pick up with a Cayenne and one way drop off with a local taxi that is not as advertised. At both times of arriving and leaving, Bentley was just sitting in the parking lot. Guess, YMMV... * Never got welcome vibes from the on-site manager during my stay. What's up with that? * Didn't get to settle the folio until check out since their system was down.

The hotel does not have a reception desk. You need to email the check-in password upon arrival. Three-storey cottage Very comfortable, all matching utensils, all plates are no bowls The bedroom looks unbeatable, with roof glass There are special hiking trails seven or eight minutes down the mountain It's more difficult to go up the mountain, but it's almost a quarter of an hour. It's still close to the town.
- 小羔只
Because it is self-check-in, there is no front desk, no service staff, you have to contact by phone. After 8 pm, the basic contact with the hotel's service staff. If there is any emergency, it is more difficult to handle 😣😣

Close to town (5 min walk) , fire was on when we got there - place was immaculate well stocked and guest communication top notch. Apartment was above expectations, all in all made our stay in queenstown so easy. lucky we bought groceries when close to the airport as not many supermarkets close to queenstown but we would stay here again in a flash. - thanks Staysouth. Also brilliant LUMA was on - great weekend - will book again

A beautifully appointed townhouse that had everything you need for a very comfortable stay. Beautiful furnishings and very clean. Lovely location across from the lake and only 5 minute walk into Queenstown centre. Will stay again.

My wife and I stayed at The Spire for a celebration weekend, in one of the Deluxe Suites (Level 2, facing the lake). Others have commented on noise issues. For us, it was noticeable but certainly not disruptive, and we loved the mountain view so were glad to be on that side. The staff at The Spire were all wonderful, and we felt like they created a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The suite itself was awesome, and everything we'd hoped. The onsite bar and restaurant was very good (definitely make the most of the included breakfasts) and our only regret was not having an evening meal there (though we did try one of their crayfish toasties with our complimentary cocktails - both the toastie and cocktails were superb). We had asked for the staff to arrange a few things for our stay, and everything was amazing; from the airport transfers, to the private sight-seeing tour, and the incredible massage therapists who set up in our suite for a couple's massage. It was all fantastic. Thank you team, for helping us to create some wonderful memories. I hope we can be back sometime (we promised to come an dine at No. 5!)

Wonderful room - large, spacious and spotless. Plenty of places to pop your luggage. Well appointed bathroom with heated floor tiles which was a welcome treat in winter. Great pressure in the shower and beautiful, nourishing body and hair products. The bed and pillow are comfy, as are the lounge and arm chair. The fireplace is cosy and lovely to watch. Complimentary mini bar products are good quality and mostly local. We had a decent size balcony with chairs. You could see out to parts of the lake and mountains. The location is fantastic - right in the heart of Queenstown. There is a ***** club and late night bars across the lane. It meant some noise but nothing that worried us, and definately nothing consistent. Our breakfast was at the sister property for the duration of our stay - the breakfast was ok. The Spires new restaurant was just opening as we left. Looking forward to returning

The hotel is on a slope. This time, the first row is facing the road. There is a garage below the road on the first floor. Parking in the garage is very convenient. You can also drive up the slope, making it easy to pick up luggage. There are three bedrooms and three bathrooms on the first floor of the hotel. The second floor is the living room. We have four adults and one child, which is just right. The hotel is quite cozy, and the facilities are very new. The location is not far from Queenstown on foot, about 10+ minutes, but there is a long steep slope... It's a bit tiring to get back to the hotel...😂 There is road construction going on near the hotel these days, which will wake you up in the morning. The only shortcoming is that there is no radiator in the hotel room. Sometimes it feels cold in the middle of the night. Everything else is good.

We had an amazing stay at these stunning apartments. The views were amazing with a huge balcony to take it all in. Our 3 bedroom apartment was like a home away from home with everything you need. The living area and kitchen were very spacious and we loved the cosy fireplace too! Everything was very clean and tidy. Highly recommend staying here, such beautiful apartments.

Beautifully manicured grounds, stunning views! The lodges are very well appointed, extremely spacious with luxury twin basined bathroom, separate sleeping area, which can be divided off from the lounge/seating area. Small sink and fridge provided with adequate tea/coffee making facilities. There is also a lovely gas flamed fire, which can operate for visual effect, or to warm the lodge, fabulous to sit by if the weather is not so good. Without exception, the staff were more than helpful, welcoming, engaging and couldn't do enough for you, providing recommendations for our onward journey of views, restaurants etc. Breakfast was provided at an additional cost, freshly prepared to order, although we felt the cost of this could have been included given the price of the accommodation. Dining in the restaurant was very good, dishes beautifully presented and well cooked. We tried the complimentary wine tasting, which we thought was a little underwhelming, being offered only 1 white, 1 rose and 1 red to sample, all entry level, with the suggestion to pay for the next level wine tour and tasting. Unfortunately, this was not possible for us due to timings of our visit and ongoing travel commitments. We had wanted to sample wines to select something to have alongside evening dinner, but this was not possible to do. A fabulous place with exceptional staff but a couple of minor disappointments.

The Gibbston Valley Lodge & Spa is absolutely, hands down, 5 star!! As is the AMAZING TEAM that makes it so!! My wife and I are celebrating our anniversary, (and secondarily, my birthday) here. Given our experiences here, I think my wife will keep me around for at least a few more years! ;) We could not be more pleased, or more grateful!🙌🏻🎉🍷Thank you!!🙏🏻❤️ We are on a 4 month around the world journey, and this is checked off as one of the best and a definite “must re-do” again!!

The hotel is very new and beautiful, the bathroom with glass roof is very characteristic. Snacks and wine are served at 6 pm, so guests can easily communicate. Selling is an attitude towards life. Breakfast can be ordered in the morning, and the quality is excellent. The hotel is located in the town centre, isolated on the mountain lift, and near Queenstown Park. Going up the mountain seems to be a high-end residence with a large supermarket, fewer people and more goods than the town's supermarket. There is also a chain restaurant selling boiled lamb shoulder potatoes, which is a must try in Queenstown in addition to big burgers.

Breakfast is very good, Xiqiao buffet or you can order barbecue three fish meat various vegetables, fresh juice milk coffee. Free drinks and snacks are available from 6 to 7 pm. The location is very convenient, very close to the customer service center, walk for 5 minutes. It is also 4 minutes to the cable car station.

The Net Red Villa, which was booked 9 months in advance, was honest and not as good as expected. The 3 bedroom suite is a three-storey villa, which is very inconvenient to run up and down, far from the big flat floor. There is no toilet in the 3rd floor bedroom and the 2nd floor living room, and the design is unreasonable. The house facilities are a bit old and should be caused by high occupancy rates. The waiter has a detailed introduction to the facilities, but always reminds you that you can't do this, you can't do that, or you have to pay a fine, which makes you feel uncomfortable. As for the scenery, it was really good, but I stayed at the apartment on the Wanaka Lakeside for 3 nights, so I didn't feel amazing. It is recommended to stay in Wanaka for a few nights. There are more cars in Queenstown and there is really no Wanaka comfort.

Decent location, great views and spacious, as we rented the entire space being apartments A and B. Unfortunately, the apartment is dated, we chose to stay in an apartment so we had the option to cook some meals for our young family, but the kitchen was limited at best and the equipment provided was cheap and not sufficient. Further, the ‘entertainment system’ was farcical! Having to cast from your own phone using a 3rd party app is hardly a luxury facility and is a security risk. Adding insult, the oven door fell off, while we we using it! The hotel staff suggested that we move to another apartment, using our time and hours to do this, but they were fully booked so we couldn’t move and tbh, shouldn’t have needed to since the oven was reported broken Saturday morning and they should have had plenty of time to repair/replace it, if they had appropriate services in place. The daily breakfast was a load of muesli, milk, yogurt and fruit provided at the beginning of our 5 night stay - again, not well considered and certainly not what I’d associate with high quality.

Whilst this is an hotel that is rated as a luxury hotel there are a few features which don’t justify that title. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable, and most have beautiful views of the lake. However there are a few things that are irritating. Being offered a coffee on arrival and then realise you have to pay for it, having to ask for enough tea and coffee every day, and always having to ask for more milk. The room service menu is very limited and not available when it says. We had to order an early breakfast which came in a carrier bag, with no milk or yogurt. Eating muesli dry is not fun! Apparently they had run out of yoghurt? I am sure when these minor details are ironed out the Rees would be truly classed as a luxury hotel.

Enjoyed a 4-night mini-break at QT Queenstown. Hotel is great and I’d highly recommend – perfect location (short stroll into town along lakefront); spacious rooms; and most importantly staff welcoming and professional (shout out especially to Louisa & Anthony on front desk and Darren & Erike(?) in restaurant/breakfast room – they’re great ambassadors for QT and made our stay extra special.

Beautiful hotel in Queenstown. The room (lake view balcony) was lovely and comfortable. The breakfast was one the of best breakfast buffets I've had and the restaurant (also a nice bar there) has a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. The only thing I could fault with this hotel is that the only entrance has a set of stairs to reception that you must lift your bags up and down when you arrive and leave - and no one to help with your bags. That aspect was surely not a five star experience. However, a beautiful hotel and great service and amenities. Highly recommend.

I stayed in a King Mountain View room, and while the room felt small it was made up for the fact it was new, modern, well designed and comfortable. The open plan entrance and lobby area felt welcoming. The buffet breakfast included in the room rate was essential and super convenient to fuel up before heading up to the mountain early every morning. And happy hour in the lobby in the evenings 5-7pm. It is 5 minute downhill walk to the start of town and a 9 minute walk to the NZ Ski bus. On the way back to the hotel there is one block of steep hill to walk up but it is only a two minute section. Even though it was only a short walk into town, after a full day on the snow, travelling back and fourth to the mountain, it was hard to get the energy up to walk into town for dinner each night, being cold and tired. I caught the bus from the airport to the hotel which was super easy and a quick 20 minute ride. The airport bus stop is right outside the terminal. I bought a Bee card on the bus for $5 and the trip was only $1 for adults and 0.75c for children. The bus stopped at Blue Peaks directly across the road from the hotel. And the return bus trip to airport was just as simple. Overall a great stay, with new modern facilities, a fairly central location and friendly staff.

The apartment I live in is still a bit small, but it's about the same size for me. The area where I hang my towels is well heated, and the place is very close to the center of Queenstown, which is very good. Because I'm not used to Western-style breakfast, I won't comment on it. Since I didn't request to change the sheets after moving in, I can't comment on the cleanliness.

The location was the best part for us. It was very central in Queenstown and surrounded with many good restaurants, bars and shops. If you are planning on skiing or doing an excursion there are many pick up spots and tour operators near the hostel as well. The room was a good spot to sleep. The bed was comfy, the bathroom was clean and they provided a nice small space heater to keep the room warm if needed. We didn't have any body wash on our first night in the shower, we reported to the front desk and they gave us a couple of bars and we were told that they would replace in the morning but when we came back it was unfortunately not replaced but we did get another small bar of soap. The remote in the room was disgusting and covered in what I imagine was at one point part of some good fried chicken or possibly pizza but everything else seemed to be fine. Check in was a little tricky because there is self check in/check out tablets at the entrance. We couldn't figure out the right combination of booking reference number and name because we had received Jucy's confirmation code in a separate email. The attendant did offer to help us out but we got the right combo at that very moment. You can pick your cards to activate them and we had no issues with this part but later that evening my card deactivated and I went to the front desk a second time to get it working on our first night. The hotel has some very good signage and arrows to tell you where your rooms are and the amenities (rooftop bar/restaurant, laundry room and kitchen area). The hotel seems to be more of a party hotel and when we arrived there was lots of drinking and people having a good time. This went well into the night and the noise seemed to travel well down the hallway from the rooms that were hosting. We could also hear our neighbour coming and going throughout the first night but it was relatively quiet between 12-6. We picked this hostel for the location and to save a little bit of money for excursions. It did get very busy in our area the first night we were there but after that we had no issues with the traffic. It was a 15 minute ride to the airport in the Uber and the bus stops at the nearby Stanley St bus hub and only takes about 25 minutes to go to/from the airport with limited traffic.

Great location, this facility is suitable for those not fussy about where they stay. I did not enjoy it. I think I was expecting more and didn’t do enough research. I imagined there was the backpackers part and also a motel part of this facility. The room is what it is and it just wasn’t for me. Below is my experience of the facility. The room was dirty and very basic with no breakfast capability in room. No bowls, spoons etc if there were these items in the building somewhere to use, I was not advised of this. The Air con can not be controlled from the bedroom and you need to go down three floors to reception to ask them to set it to the temperature you want. You need to do this every time. The pillows are stained yellow and I was only given one pillowcase for two pillows. I’m not sure what was expected with the other. The shower door opens in front of the faucet making it difficult to switch on without getting wet. There was cobwebs and dust on vents and aircon. The balcony is very small but looks out over the beautiful lake and mountains. The balcony was shared with the neighbouring room. The carpet had something spilt on it which had not been cleaned. It wasn’t stained, it was hard and dried. The beds were comfortable enough and the sheets were crisp and white. Overall I wouldn’t stay here again as I prefer my hotels a lot nicer and more resourced but for a young adult looking for somewhere to sleep for a party weekend/backpacker I’d say it’s more than suitable.

We are a family of three and we spent nine nights at the Crowne Plaza in Queenstown. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a great location but these are the only positives. We had complimentary breakfast for nine days but didn't eat it once during our stay. We attempted breakfast but it was well below average. I can recommend the orange juice but we much preferred to go elsewhere for our morning coffee and a bite to eat. We also ate at the restaurant on the first night but that was enough for us. This was also below average and we never returned during the remaining eight nights. The hotel is very much a three star hotel standard. It's an ageing property with small rooms and very limited hotel amenities. The hotel isn't cheap and I would say that it doesn't represent good value for money. This is one of the worst IHG hotels that we have visited. We were actually looking forward to leave, which was a shame as Queenstown itself is stunning. We are now spending a few nights in the Hilton Hotel in Auckland before returning to Australia. In all honesty we all had a huge smile when we checked in to the Hilton and felt so relived to be back in the type of hotel that we are used to.

The four of us booked two standard hotel rooms, which were allocated on both sides of the second floor. We could only see a little bit of the lake through the window, and the view was not good. Later, I paid more for a two-bedroom apartment on the seventh floor, with two bathrooms, a large living room and kitchen supplies, and a balcony facing the lake with a great view. I highly recommend it. It's more than ten minutes' walk from the town center. There are traffic buses, which run about every hour. Reservations are required, and there may not be a seat for temporary visits.

This is undoubtedly the worst motel I have ever stayed at in New Zealand. I should have known. It wasn’t boding well when I walked into the Reception area and noted how dirty the carpet was, the walls badly chipped and marked and the sweet, sickly, permeating smell of many a previously cooked meal. Shown to our room (which we had upgraded from a ‘shared bathroom’ set up to an ensuite room for an extra $60), our senses were assaulted by the smell of a ‘plug-in’ wall air freshener that was so strong it had us wondering what it was trying to mask. Shabby, old, tired and bashed furniture, snagged and dirty bed bases with no valences, light switches that clearly hadn’t seen cleaning products for a while, we decided to leave. We were offered a further upgrade to a bigger room and as we couldn’t find anything nearer to our next days meeting point, we hesitantly took it. Very little change at all. Weary from our travels, we decided to stick it out. It was only the next morning, in the light of day, that I really paid attention to some of the finer details I missed the night before. The photos will give the reader an idea. This place is a dump and I hope our overseas tourists don’t think the rest of our hoteliers operate at this level.

I booked this hotel so we could be close to LUMA. I read some really mixed reviews and was a little nervous. But we had the BEST stay! Right from calling up as I made a mistake booking online, the man who I spoke to was so helpful, accommodating my large family group over three rooms . It was a really really busy weekend at the hotel with Luma on and kings birthday, but the staff were all so lovely and friendly despite being run off their feet, Highlights were the comfiest beds ever, the fab spa pool which was a hit with us adults and kids( you book a slot at reception), and the amazing lake front view from the lake front rooms. There was even a kids corner near reception with Xbox game, books and a few toys. The reviews online had been average for the breakfast. While it wasn’t ground-breaking, it was more than fine and the custard danish pastries were delicious! Overall, we had a fab stay and would definitely book again.
